drain the moat! -
i think this just illustrates how lackluster "deal days" like these usually are, black friday, etc etc. lackluster in the sense that rarely are the deals specific to the retailer (plus so often the old raise the price and then mark it down to look like a sale routine)

its been a long time since I even cared about the Yankees failing. It used to bring me a bit of pleasure poking fun at friends. I think when so many years of trying to buy a title come and go, it's kind of like "meh, whatever". The Red Sox spanking them for a few years also took away a lot of the aura. the most annoying thing about the Yanks lately is having to hear people cry Boone or Cashman. I think they beat the Royals and I am interested to see what happens next round. When the playoffs began, I felt their biggest challenge would be Cleveland. If Detroit advances, are they hot enough to beat the Yanks? Obviously i'm pulling for the Mets and I really don't want a subway series
-
None. I have a log in at Fantasysharks but it's strictly for FFToday IBL stuff.

Also pulling for the Mets and I happen to like Lindor. Not sure if he is a class act or not... I think he's a passionate dude and things are going well and he is happy. But it wasn't that long ago that one of the bigger Mets stories was the friction between him and Jeff McNeil. Few seasons ago under Buck, I believe. not saying he isn't an overall good guy though.

Again, Saleh got a long leash because he had bad QB play. I would argue that a good HC, defensive minded or not, should be able to get more out of mediocre players and I would also argue that a good coach handles those situations much better.... but Saleh pivoted away from Zach Wilson (to freaking Tim Boyle) last year in a pathetic attempt to save his job... which was most likely safe anyway. Then tried to put Wilson back in when it failed.... and the prior year he allowed his team to wear Mike F'ing White shirts in support of the backup QB. A real head coach doesn't allow that stuff to go on. I don't think he had any control I have liked Ulbrich as a defensive coordinator. But the entire situation sets up as a mess. Saleh should have been replaced this offseason with an offensive minded HC with some track record (maybe a Frank Reich for example) Let the new HC get 1-2 years of Rodgers and then transition to their own guy. I think Jordan Travis has promise. Whats going on is just classic Jets and classic Woody Johnson.

Whoever has a better chance to beat the Yankees is who I want to win that series

Just typed this out in a group text but i'll post here also. Saleh needed to go. He is not a good coach. I don't even feel like he built an amazing defense as much as Douglas drafted and signed good pieces and Ulbrich is a solid coordinator. Of course, the narrative will be about Rodgers running the show, and of course he is. But if this were any other solid veteran QB, and this talented team started 2-3 with losses to Denver and Sam Darnold, Saleh should be gone. He has received a big pass because of his previous QB play, but at some point a good HC manages to win games with what they have. Perhaps a bigger issue for the Jets organization, even bigger than their inability to develop a QB, is their inability to hire a head coach. Woody continues to bring in defensive minded head coaches in a league where that doesn't work quite as well anymore. It worked with Rex because his players respected him but he was always an offensive liability. The one time they went for an offensive minded guy they picked the worst possible candidate because he has the backing of Peyton Manning. Woody Johnson is a problem but hes a problem we can't do much about.

For the first time in a while it must be a really fun time to be a Mets fan, watching your organization be run competently. Ever since last seasons sell off. This season's ride has been fun and hopefully it continues but they really are set up pretty well going forward.

Well, let me clarify a bit. It's not just because you didn't say "Epstein ONLY". It's more because you are acting like there must be huge players, who were never named, who were trafficking minors for him. I don't believe that to be the case. It's already well documented that Epstein and Maxwell used victims to lure/recruit other victims. Epstein was a master manipulator. Did he have logistical help? Of course. Was this logistical help coming from high profile people? I think more likely those high profile people were simply partaking, as has always been implied. with 'Diddy' it sounds more like high profile people were involved as more than just guests at his parties.
-
never said no one else was involved. I said he WAS in fact trafficking kids to himself. It's documented. He had a web of his own victims recruiting other victims. It's honestly focking sad when people are trying to argue which side's atrocities against children and human trafficking is worse.
-
ummm, technically yes, yes he did. He had children he was already molesting, bring him more children to molest. Do you live under a rock? I am all for the liberal sickness being exposed, but stop being retarded.

What would happen if they simply "let them play". (Get rid of NFL penalites completely)

Is it wrong? Maybe there should be inherent risk when you enter a country (or stay in one) illegally. Look... if you can keep the families together as you remove them from the country, great. But why should we be going out of our way to make sure of that? I am a generally compassionate person but I totally understand a lot of American's being tired of our country putting other countries first. ----------------- slightly different note, I have a friend who dates an illegal Brazilian. I know exactly how she got to the US and exactly how she stayed, and of course... why she can't travel now. Since she came here, she has been able to get her half brother here, and she is working on getting her daughter (23) here as well. It's an absolute shame this stuff is allowed to happen. When people who defend this claim that these people are not taking jobs from American citizens, it's pure BS. This woman works as a hair stylist, paid under the table of course. If she was not in the country, and could not be paid less money under the table, there are plenty of legal woman who would love to have that job. Where this woman happens to live, there is a huge Brazilian population, many here illegally and looking for American men to marry. -
i do understand why they have laid it out like they have. they are obviously giving an advantage to the 3rd division winner and top wildcard. I just think in general it is bogus to have such a long regular season grind conclude with such a short playoff series, where those home teams can catch a hot lower seed and have less of a chance to adjust. I suppose for the final 2 wildcard teams, it's all gravy. But for the 3 and 4 seeds, especially the 3 seed, a few years ago they would have had a legit playoff series with home and away games. Im cheering for the Mets (since Tampa didn't make it, of course), so I am not bitching about the format because my team lost or anything...
-
which means nothing for 2 of the 6 division winners.
-
yeah, i'm not saying there won't be issues and im not pretending to have a perfect solution. I understand there is a players union and that the owners also want certain things. bottom line is a 162 game season should not have a best of 3 first round. It's bush league. Owners should be in favor of the expanded playoffs and more playoff games because it means more potential revenue for their teams if they make it. It also means more teams are alive later in the season which results in more ticket and merchandise sales, even for teams that don't get in.... So if the answer is shortening the season slightly, they should not be looking for players to take pro rated pay cuts, as posty speculated, because those players are able to draw more asses to seats later into the season as it is. We are talking 3 of 5 first round instead of 2/3. MLB made the decision to expand playoffs, it should be done right, imho. You're talking a max of 2 more games, 4 more days with travel before the LDS would begin. I don't personally think that's asking too much without shortening the season, but you could literally cut the season to 160 games.
