Last year we started picks on 2/24 and we had 29 days in Feb. We began the supplemental on 3/7 and finished on 3/12 18 day process. We should probably have a hard start of Wednesday 2/26 to ensure some breathing room with the March 18th game

Once Burt rolls, I will get started producing the draft threads so people can back log their exclusives and we can set a start date for the draft. I suppose once the round 1/2 thread is created people can make picks if they wish but we usually have a starting date so no one feels obligated to pick before hand and to lessen injury risk just a tad.

I pretty much disagree with all of this. Mock drafts are just for fun and often mostly wrong but biased toward “cool” teams? When did the Bears become cool? it’s not unrealistic that many mocks had Brock Bowers to the Raiders last year. It’s was a very “Raiders” pick. Not because they are seen as “cool”. i think the most bias you will see is if a mock is done by a teams fan site or beat writer. I have seen some of those where it’s clear they are making a player fall

Dynasty Alert: Tet McMillan isn't going to be that good
WhiteWonder replied to nobody's topic in FFToday Board
Does he need to be fast? Lots of receivers were faster than Mike Evans when he came into the league. I bet Tets 40 time winds up being similar. Can Tet put on 10 pounds? I would comp him more to Drake London though -
Jets QB Rumor Connects Garrett Wilson to Justin Fields Signing

A big part of the issue was firing Saleh. Like I said earlier, he deserved to be fired but not after week 5 when the team was 2-3. You can get away with that if you’re making someone like Greg Williams, for example, the interim HC because he has HC experience. Ulbrich was not. He was in over his head when he should have been completely focused on the D. I do believe if they didn’t do all that, they would have been an 8 win team rather than 5. DJ Reed needs to be franchise tagged and Jermaine Johnson needs to come back healthy and this defense can get back to where it was. A stable coaching staff for a whole season with a smart veteran QB as the bridge will have them competing for the playoffs. Maybe the Saints will move on from Carr? But no matter who it is, they need to draft someone especially if Jordan Travis’ injury is worse than initially thought. Fields wants a chance to be the man somewhere. He’s too young to play a mentor role. He won’t want that and doesn’t have much experience and wisdom to give anyway. Bringing in a guy like that is something you do if you think he might be able to be your franchise guy. I know he played with Wilson and his running threat might open up more space for Hall but in the end I don’t see him as a franchise QB. If he is, Pitt would have already locked him up -
Jets QB Rumor Connects Garrett Wilson to Justin Fields Signing

I’m fine with Winston as well. Mostly I just think it needs to be a veteran who knows his role is 2 years max because I think the Jets need to draft someone. I would like it to be a veteran who is also capable of winning because the team does have plenty of talent on the roster, so theoretically you can have both a bridge QB and a win now situation. Fields doesn’t strike me as someone who checks either of those boxes. -

I just don't see Fields skills being on par with either of the players you mentioned. Easy comparisons but I do think both have better arms. However, my point is not to build with Rodgers or Cousins. My point is to build with someone they draft this year or Jordan Travis who they drafted last year. Either way, you need someone to bridge for at least this season. Throwing a rookie or 2nd year guy with no experience into the fire right away is not going to work -

Rodgers is gone. The issue in NY? Woody Johnson. Even if he fired Saleh because that's what Rodgers wanted, he's a terrible owner for doing so. If he did it of his own accord, hes also a terrible owner for doing so. Saleh was not a good coach but the team was 2-3. Firing Saleh and replacing him with Ulbrich as interim HC who was way in over his head was going to make the defense suffer as a result and the offense was never going to get any better until Rodgers shook off the rust. The wins never came but Rodgers looked a lot better in the second half based on the eye test, not just the numbers on paper. The Jets need to draft a QB in round 2, or see if Jordan Travis is anything. They need to let a young guys sit and learn behind a smart veteran. The problem with Fields is he wants to be a starter and get a shot at being a teams franchise guy. I don't think he is getting a team over the hump. Best case scenario, he starts for a season and keeps it entertaining with his legs and a few big throws and then loses the job to someone they draft this April. -

FF does not equal real life. Justin Fields is not a franchise QB. At this point in their careers, neither are guys like Rodgers or Cousins. However, Rodgers and Cousins are long time, smart veterans who a new, rookie QB can learn behind. And Rodgers is better than Fields for 1-2 years. If Cousins improves with more time removed from his own injury, he may be better as well for the next 1-2 years. -

I want nothing to do with Fields and sincerely hope Wilson does not want out of NY contingent on Fields. In theory, the Jets should have kept Rodgers because they need a bridge QB. A bridge QB can be a crappy, life long backup but it could also be a solid veteran at the end of their careers... so why not have it be a guy who can get you to the playoffs? Rodgers showed signs of old Rodgers over the second half of the season. So instead they take some dead cap hit and move on... still need someone viable while you groom a rookie or Jordan Travis. I really hope they go for Cousins after Atlanta cuts him. Jets suck, Woody Johnson sucks, but one thing they have consistently done wrong regardless of regime is draft rookie QBs and throw them into the fire right away. It doesn't work in New York. So I am hopeful that they draft someone like Jaxson Dart, or if they believe in last years 5th round pick Travis have them sit and learn for a year+ behind someone like Cousins. Fields is going to want to start and keep starting. I don't see a franchise QB and I don't see someone who has a lot to offer a rookie in terms of mentorship. -

Trump's team is reportedly interested in banning junk food purchases for 41 million SNAP users
WhiteWonder replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
And all of that is interesting I guess but mostly irrelevant in my personal opinion. Non SNAP households can buy whatever they want with their own money. It seems pretty reasonable and logical that if you need government assistance to buy your groceries, you should be limited to essential items for survival and sustenance and then, as mentioned before, you can choose to use your own funds on chips, soda, cookies, candy etc. i don’t even know why the OP article is comparing the two. If you tell me 10% of SNAP households are buying candy that’s 10% too much (obviously I don’t really care if they buy a small bag of candy each week) -

WhiteWonder replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Well I was suggesting that anyone on this type of assistance probably has housing assistance and has a fridge. So they are buying a loaf, half pound of lunch meat ham and store brand kraft style cheese slices. Are there a lot of people with government assisted food budgets who don’t have a way to store food and have to utilize Wawa or places like 7-11 with a microwave? (I know it was a quick example you gave) -

I don't really care about the nutritional value. For me it comes down to essential vs non essential and I admit, that also might be a tough argument... . but as long as you're using your benefits to buy things that fall into the category of essential meals, have at it. You will never eliminate all junk food. frozen TV dinners are junk... but they are produced and consumed as meals and its generally accepted. -

I would strongly disagree that buying chips or oreos is "simply living". Yes, comfort foods are a part of life but they are not essential. I guess I feel like food assistance funds should only be used on essential meals. So while I don't think we need to worry about fresh vs frozen, perceived quality, name brand, etc... I do think we need to consider what makes up these essentials. Like what is the difference between buying Oreos at the supermarket or at the gas station? Besides value. It's still Oreo cookies and it's still a luxury. I am all for allowing families using benefits to go for cheap TV dinners and similar things regardless of the reason, but I agree, time saving and convenience is important. As long as it's fulfilling the need of essential meals Families getting benefits can absolutely buy snacks and buy a kids birthday cake. They can do this with their own money. These benefits are meant to be a supplement. they should be used on the essential items, which in turn should allow families to use their regular funds on any non essential snacks they feel they need. If they feel they can't afford this stuff without government assistance then you don't buy them. any time in my life where I felt I needed to cut back on some spending, fast food and snacks were the first to go. I know you were just giving an example on the fly but if a person doesn't have a car, do they really need to walk to Wawa to get a sandwich over making their own ham and cheese at home? I feel like someone in this situation is probably getting other living assistance that would allow them to be living somewhere with a fridge. -

I guess there is likely a slope here. I think it's fair to ban using government assistance on candy, soda, chips etc... but someone else mentioned shitty hotdogs, frozen dinners, etc. At some point it's probably considered essential nourishment, even if it's also sort of considered junk, and it would be hard to blame people for going that route if those items happen to be cheaper. You could try limiting it to bread, eggs, milk, meats, fish, canned goods and so on but if some "junkier" options are more affordable and means you can stretch more meals out of your assistance money... why should we care? but yes, definitely should care if people are spending it on snack food
