IMDB lists profanity as "Mild". Where did you see claims of needless profanity?

There isn't any graphic sex or anything like that. Depp gal shows her diamond cutters a few times but I wouldn't call it excessive and the nudity made sense given the scene. Now Florence Pugh hanging out topless for an extended scene in Oppenheimer WAS the definition of unnecessary nudity. NTTAWWT. How old is the kid?

Nudity? 100% Profanity? This is set in 1830s Germany and I don't remember a SINGLE bit of profanity. If the word "fock" was used it would have been so out of place that I would remember it.

I hadn't heard about Oddity. I'll see if it's streaming. I like going in completely blind so maybe it's good that I haven't heard of it. Ironic thing about Cuckoo is that the ENTIRE premise of the movie became obsolete once I learned later that the main character isn't actually a woman. (yes, it's another tranny thread )

This is an accurate assessment. Definitely heavy on the Gothic vibe moreso than straight up "horror". As I mentioned above, though, I really liked how Eggers handled the feeding parts.

Yeah, I realized that after the movie. Once I learned who she was I could definitely see the resemblance.

Wife and I saw this movie yesterday. Very good, but as is typical w an Eggers movie it has a very slow build up. I especially liked the sound design when Count Orlok is feeding. Very squelchy and gross. As an added bonus this is the first time I've seen the main actress. She's not shy about showing off her perky little tittays.

Wife and I watched it and agree that it was enjoyable enough. Spot on about Jason Bateman being the main reason. He's one of my current favorite actors. Loved this line in Ozark...

While there are certainly a bunch of old fockers on board, we were pleasantly surprised that there were quite a few mid-50s folks like us as well.
