I will agree. For the Vikes to move up far enuf, I don't know what team they could make a deal with. More of wishfull thinking on my part. I will disagree with you about the "many holes to fill". You are confusing me: 1.) I used the word "decent" to describe the Vikes RBs last year and you disagreed with me saying they "had a couple of solid contributers". Sounds pretty much the same to me. 2.) Ditching our "franchise" QB IS what we needed to do. Culpepper is over rated. Without Moss he was nothing. He stunk it up before he was injured. He doesn't run anymore which was his bread an butter when he came to the Vikes. He no longer is a threat to run and the opposing defenses blitz the crap out of him, causing him to panic everytime he throws. I won't miss his poor throws and fumbled snaps one bit. By starting Brad Johnson, this tells me they are not going to throw much, and when they do it will be short to medium passes. Brad Johnson IS the "NOW" because he's too old to be our future. Drafting a top QB would get us no where in 2006. I see the Vikes playing the free agent QB game next year. 3.) Your last statement asked "where were the linebackers?" EXACTLY THE POINT. We need someone who can step in right now and contribute. IMO, that is A.J. Hawk.

The Vikings have made offseason moves that indicate they are playing for next season and not rebuilding. Therefore, you can eliminate the idea of moving up in the draft and getting one of the QBs. Offensive line is improved with Hutch. Got Chester Taylor and Richardson to run the ball with decent backfield that was already in place. We have a QB in place that can't run or throw deep, but very accurate and smart in short yadage. Not much for recievers with Burleson jumping ship. Offense is set. What the Vikings NEED is defense. Some eman, tough SOB on the front line wreaking havoc. A fast and tough MLB is also a need. If the Vikes can accomplish these two glaring needs, the mediocre DB's will elevate there play due to poor decisions by the opposing QBs. Summary: LB or Defensive lineman. Vikes trade up and land A.J. Hawk from Ohio State.
