  1. Yea the last thing Moss owners need is an average to decent game by Brooks so he can keep on starting. Walter looks pretty decent in the pocket and looks like Montana compared to Brooks. I think Shell is just trying to get another paycheck personally. He hasn't done much coaching wise and needs to get rid of the 8 step drops. Coming off of a bye week, this is the perfect time to let the young QB play since he'll have an extra week to prepare.

Art Shell is pretty much just a bobble-head in that organization. Al Davis has his hand in every bit of the mess that team has become. The offense is the old typical hardline vertical offense, circa 1969 with a twist of 1994 thrown in for good measure and Tom Walsh calling the plays. I used to watch Shell and Walsh get out-coached weekly the last time they were together in 1994. There's no ingenuity, no schemes, no adjustments, just line it up and try to knock the other team off the ball. How often this year have we already heard Shell referring to not getting physical enough or asserting domination? ALL of this is typical Al Davis and he's just a tired old man.

This team will have it's good games, even offensively. But from a FF standpoint, I would stay away from all players. Walters is going to get killed running the vertical offense.

As a Raider fan, I've got my hopes on a sharp young executive assistant he has brought up through the ranks named Amy Trask. She was one of his ruthless type lawyers at one time, but is carrying more and more clout these days. If and when he ever kicks it, and she gets any power over the team, it could be a good deal for the Raider Nation.

  2. I live in Orange County, California. Like I said, my parents gave our family the greatest gift anyone could give and moved us out of that craphole 20 years ago. Don't kid yourself, I'm someone who's seen "both sides of the fence". The whole midwestern United States is a complete cesspool. They dont call it the armpit of America for nothing.

Bears, Lions, Green Bay, Minny.... they all suck and their whole state sucks. The only thing I miss about DET is the Lions and Tigers and tbh if Los Angeles gets a football team I'll most likely hop on that wagon. I've already started the transition to the Angels and Lakers so I'm sure it won't be that hard.

    next.

Pat yourself on the back transplant, because it's people like you who've killed So Cal as a premier place to live. Just killed it. We used to joke that every sunny New Years Day Parade in Pasadena brought a whole new wave of Jed Clampetts out to flood our beaches.

  3. I drafted him LAST year after Dr Z practically gushed about him in the preseason SI FF issue. This year was supposed to be a breakout season, but I think there are serious chemistry probs in NE right now. Once they figure it out, he'll get rolling. Nobody can guard the guy.

  4. The word from the Dallas area radio talk show homers is that TO has a broken metacarpel, which is basically a bone on the top of his hand. Not as serious as a broken finger. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back after the bye week.

With all the carping going on about TO, there are only two things that matter to me. One, the guy plays his ASS off between the lines. And two, after he threw a beatdown on Hugh Douglas, the so-called "team ambassador" on that gutless Philly squad, he went into the room and demanded to know who else wanted some. None of those pussies spoke up, most notably that nancy boy McNabb.

    Despite all, the guy's tough.

  5. I think he's worth a shot. His schedule doesn't look all that bad

Yeah, I'm looking real hard at the last two games before FF playoffs begin, against Houston and at Green Bay. That TD catch yesterday was raw talent and a lot of heart, two things that'll take a WR reciever far in this league. Reminds me some of A Boldin, but without the speed. Though it's probably a no brainer, I just picked him up as my number four by dropping Burleson.

  6. Dont mind these jerks, they rip on you for posting help questions on this board, then you post on the "right" one and it never gets answered. Winslow has big time upside, but Watson is clearly the better option right now. If you can pick up Ben and keep them both, i you can only keep one, get Watson.

It's just amazing that Watson isn't taken in your league, that's all... Pick up Watson and play him as your primary TE, then use Winslow for trade bait when he explodes this year.

  7. He will get his, just not tonight. Saban will take Pepper out behind the practice facility and beat the living sheet out of him like a dog that poops on the carpet.

Someone needs to beat the crap out of Saban and teach him how to throw a red flag. I dont' want to hear another freaking word about the 'genius' that is Nick Saban... What a gump.

  8. I find some of these posts to be overly optimistic, this nieve, and this one is a prime example. To think that Warner will not go down this season, 26 of the votes thus far, is ridiculous. This guy hasn't lasted a whole season since when 2000? Come on Warner owners I hope you were smart enough to at least get Leinart or another QB for when, not if, Warner goes down.

Going into last season, I believe Warner had some nagging injuries that eventually caught up with him. With the schedule Arizona has, there is some great potential there. But I don't see him lasting past week five. He may not go down for the year, but he'll lose a start or three. Just enough to get Matt Lienart some real time experience throwing to those two beasts at WR...

  9. I had Jordan last year and I took him as a keeper this year. Last year was the same thing, same lineman, same sorry team that loses, but he still got the ball plenty of times last year.

With Shell in there I think that they will be more run based and have an attitude about run blocking before all is said and done. The guy is a HOF lineman, if he can't get those guys fired up than no one will.

Second thing is that they aren't going to be chucking the ball down the field every play, pass protection is harder than run blocking in most cases and Brooks does have a tendency to throw picks and take sacks, not exactly what you want. They will try to control the game on the ground and it worked to some extent last year. They were in a lot of games, they just made stupid mistakes.

That defense is improved after moving back to a 4-3. A lot of the younger players are more experienced and the scheme fits their talent better. They may give up some yards, but they are keeping teams out of the end zone.

And I think that the AFC West has actually gotten worse all the way around. KC is a mess, SD is probably the best team, but still lost Brees and Denver has a rookie RB starting. Mike Andersen will be sorely missed IMHO, while unspectacular, he was tough and solid on almost every down and he didn't fumble. It is still a tough division, but the gap isn't any bigger than last year and Oakland still got Jordan the ball plenty. It isn't like Fargas is breathing down his back here.

They'll probably finish around 5-11, but who cares as long as Lamont is getting the rock.

The biggest detriment to ANY Raider player in FF is that their defense will not let them on the field. Time of possession will kill them more than any O-line probs, or blowouts. Actually, Raider fans will tell you this team loses more close games than any in the league.

As for Art Shell, what a load of crap. As a season ticket holder back in '94, I watched him get outcoached consistently every week. We all know who really runs the show anyhow. I really think Amy Trask would make a fantastic Manager of the General Partner though...

  10. Driver and Evans

    vs.

    Ward and Givens

Just got offered that trade

This may be the year Losman figures things out. If so, Evans is dangerous. McGahee is running hard, and with something to prove. That makes the play action a legit weapon for Losman, and a guy like Evans dangerous more so. I woudn't do it.

  11. You could be right. Just my opinion.

I think Shanny hates Tater Tot first off. Second off, Shanny loves nothing more than taking a RB out of no where an turning him into a star.

This is the best take on the entire thread. But as earlier stated, Denver's passing game will be more of a threat to EITHER Bell early. Though they'll pound the ball late if they get a lead. The Caddy's my number one back, but I've got to choose between Droughns, Chester the Molester, and M Bell. Cleveland is at home against NO, so my choice is easy.

  12. I recently proposed a trade (Lundy/Morrency/Kennison for Maroney/Chambers). Either way, everybody is up in arms about it and its going to get vetoed, im pretty sure.

If we have 10 teams in our leage, how many vetoes will it take to cancel the trade, and will it get cancelled in 48 hours or immediately? Because I think if i re-propose the trade of Lundy/Morrency for Chambers straight up, then people would be fine with it. However, I want to do it before 48 hours before Thursday nights Dolphins at Steelers game, so i can start Chambers.

Anybody know how Yahoo! vetoing works? does it take 3 votes? Does it happen instantly? Is there any way i can get chambers before opening night?

any insight will be helpful! kick off in 50 hours!

That trade is a beating. If dude needs RB help why is he trading Maroney? He has three other WR's better than Chambers? I don't make that trade at all if I'm him. BTW I'm in a Yahoo 12 team league, it takes 2 days and no's from four other owners to squash a trade. Commish can overule though if not involved.

  13. hes still imo a near top 10 lock (as much as one can be a "lock"), and i have him in my top 5. was actually encouraged by what i saw in the preseason personally. im bidding on him in a 7 day auction today, and i bid about 20% of my cap.

Geez, 20%? I got him for $3 in my keeper league ($130 cap/9 teams.) He's running behind a pretty good line and Minnesota's defense is not bad. They'll be in some games. Not taking much from pre-season, but I like his hands coming out of the backfield too. He's my #2 RB behind the Caddy.

  14. Do you really think Branch is gonna have his contract terminated?

Do you think he's gonna be asked to take a pay CUT, or take a hike?

    I don't.

Let me ask you a question.....

Do YOU have a GUARANTEED JOB?

Do You know anyone that does PERSONALLY?

I have to perform everyday, or else they will find somebody else to do my job, is that fair? I think it is, but what do I know, it's only my life.....

I know that if I stay good at what I do, and get better, than I will have a job, and will get raises.

Sounds ptretty fair to me, and I'm CERTAINLY not making the kind of $ these guys are.

Are you serious? PLEASE tell me you're not comparing your lot in life to that of an NFL player. I'd like to see the guy in camp, but I'm through berating NFL players for not 'living up to the contracts they signed,' because front offices will terminate those contracts in a second if it benefits the team.

  15. All of you idealists who cry about the player having a contract are just killing me. Sure, I wish Branch would just shut up and get back in camp. I've got Brady in one of my leagues. But football players see their NON-GUARANTEED contracts get terminated constantly. How many times are these guys told to either take a pay cut or hit the road?

Save that crusader crap for sports like baseball and basketball...

  16. I'd say Engram was the greater big play threat. That's where the points really are... I just picked him up, then traded JJ for J-Ville's defense to use down the stretch.

  17. The thing that's killing Palmer is his ultra-conservative coach. That and the Cincy running defense. I like the guy against the better teams, as it forces Sherm Parcells to open it up more.

Unless of course they're up against Pittsburgh's running game, and all your going to get is Bengal defensive rookies chasing a bunch of fire trucks.

I'm sticking with Cahhhhson all the way...
