    Broncos Backup

I watch every Broncos game. Ball is only on the team because he plays special teams, and he can pick up blitzes, so he can help protect the franchise player Peyton Manning. (it still feels weird typing that) Ball has little to no fantasy value. No show or Hillman are the guys to own if McGahee goes down.

    Broncos 54 Steelers 3

I'll be stoked if the Broncos finish 10-6 and lose in the first round of the playoffs considering what the expectations around the country were before the season started.

    Broncos 54 Steelers 3

Welcome to the bandwagon newb! Do you know who Steve Tensi, Steve Ramsey, and Charlie Johnson are? Well I guess there's room on the bandwagon for people who became fans during the Elway era.

Going against Rivers and Jackson tonight...

    is this bad fantasy moral?

Bad fantasy morals. Your first sentence said it was a friends league. If you are any kind of friend you will point it out to him and ask him if he still wants the trade before you just hit the accept button. You are trying to take advantage of him because of the Boldin injury. Would a friend do that? Friends are more important than fantasy football.

    **Week 5 Power Rankings**

I am a huge Broncos fan, and as much as I love seeing them in a top 10 power ranking, they don't belong.

    Jay Cutler's problem is this.......

There were reports when he was in Denver, and also early reports when he first got to Chicago about him boozing it up. I haven't heard anything lately, so maybe he's cleaning himself up. With his type 1 diabetes, if he keeps boozing it up per reports, I doubt his body stays in football shape much past the age of 30.

    I traded Tomlinson...was it a good move?

So, you've had LT as a keeper since 2002 (7 seasons), and now you trade him for MJD. Looks like a pretty savvy move to me, you should be able to keep MJD for 7 years or so if luck goes your way. Sure it's possible that LT might be better than MJD this year, but you'll be fine with MJD, and you can use him for much longer that LT. I'll use the used car analogy, you got a lot of miles out of LT, and you sold when there was still something left in his tank. That enabled you to trade for value, and now you have your shiny new car in MJD. I love the move. Good Job!

The OFFICIAL I played against S. Holmes thread

I didn't see a I benched Santonio Holmes thread, so I thought I'd just whine in this one. Here's hoping Jennings and Housh have good games so I don't feel as bad for having Holmes on my bench.

    Tom Brady Cheating on Video!

Reckless too. That kid should have the helmet strapped on, not just dangling there.

    Cincinnati Kicking

Nice looking kick, considering a PAT is 20 yards, I be that would have been good from 35 or maybe even 40.
  12. on topic: Portis is my 13th ranked RB, but I will probably not get him on my team because I really want to get 1 RB and 1 WR in the first 2 rounds. That means Portis will have to fall to round 3 for me to get him. If he does I will consider him in the 3rd. off topic: Isn't it ironic that several years after the huge Portis/Champ Bailey trade that the Redskins are the team with the bad offense/good defense and the Broncos are the team with the good offense/bad defense? You'd think that would have gone the other way around.

    Ahmad Bradshaw vs. Julius Jones

Not necessarily worse, just lower ceiling. At the point of the draft these guys are being drafted, I'm filling in my RB4 or RB5. My late RB's, I'd rather swing for the fences.

    UFL Uni's

Why on God's green earth would you want more than 1? Multiple GF's, sure, but multiple wives, no way Jose.

RB's to enter the top 10 in 2009

No offense, but it kind of defeats the purpose to list 17 guys as possibly breaking int the top 12. I understand that you ranked them in your order of probability, but come on, 17 guys?

    Is drafting over-rated?

I understand what you are saying, and you have a point and you have some good answers so far, but LT finished as the 7th highest scoring RB in my league last year, 2 points higher that AP. LT does not belong as one of your examples to make your point. Now if you would have added that the LT owner had to be savvy on the WW since LT was pretty much done by the time the fantasy playoffs rolled around, that might be a better argument. Lt helped get teams to the playoffs, he just didn't help his teams win anything once there.

T.O. is too undervalued this year.

Shhhh! I know my pick in only one of my leagues, it is pick 7. i think early 2nd is too early for TO as I could probably have Wayne, Jennings etc. I am hoping TO falls to 3.7 for me, so don't let people get high on TO until after my draft.

    Playing in multiple leagues....

Yes and No. I am in 3 different leagues, and they are all unique as far as scoring rules and other owner tendencies. I obviously have certain players that I like and think they will out perform their draft spots, so some of those guys may end up on multiple teams, but I won't go out of my way to make that happen. I mostly go best player available, and I have 3 different ranking sheets made up for the 3 different scoring systems. For example, my oldest league is still extremely old school, 12 teams, basically it is a TD only league. We do get bonus points for milestones, (100 yds passing/300 yds passing) This league is still one where you want to get RB's early and often. I'd guess at least 1 or 2 owners will draft RB/RB/RB to start. With only 4 point passing TD's, it's not as crucial to get a Brees or Brady, you can definitely do just as well with a Shaub or Palmer later. WR's are way wishy washy in this league, although depending on my draft position, I may go for one of the big 4 in the late first/early 2nd. Goal Line backs are huge in this league. Guys like Brandon Jacobs before he got the starting gig were money. I will be looking to grab guys like LeRon McLain and Peyton Hillis late in this draft. My second league is more standard scoring, so I will try to get a more balanced team, although it still favors RBs over WRs a little, and with only 2 starting WR's and no PPR, starting a draft WR/WR is not wise. QB's still score 4 in this league, so you don't need a top one, but you don't want QB12 as your starter either because you do get 1 point for every 50 passing. The defensive scoring seems to be out of proportion with the rest of the players, so getting a top one early can pay huge dividends. The problem is the top defenses change a lot year to year, so you have to pick the right ones. Third league is 6 points for all TD's, and only 1 RB and 1 WR with 2 flex. Getting a top QB is much more important, so I will get one early. with so much flexibility (1-3, 2-2, 3-1) with RB/WR starting requirements, you can truly go best player available and not worry if you miss on a WR2, I usually only have 2 WR's on my roster in this league, and tend to be a runningback ######. The year I went WR heavy didn't work out so well even though my top 3 were really good. I know that is way more than you asked, but that's what I think. I'm not against having the same guys on multiple teams, but I don't go out of my way to make it that way either. Also, as someone said above, draft position would also have a lot to do with getting the same players, especially in the early rounds.

Who is the best handcuff player?

Good points, I wrote my explanations kind of quickly, because I didn't want to just give a list without an explanation. Maybe I should put Sproles and Brown 1A and 1B. Actually they are 3A and 3B because as others have already pointed out, Jonathan Stewart and LenDale White are the 2 best backups to have, but they weren't on the OP's list, maybe that is because the OP considers them RBBC guys rather than backups. So now that you mention it, put Sproles and Brown at 1A and 1B in either order you wish, Sproles has done it before, and Brown is a rookie and hasn't proven himself. I put Brown first originally because I feel Addai has a better chance of losing the starting gig moreso than Tomlinson. I think that is more the reason over what I wrote last night.

Who is the best handcuff player?

    1. Donald Brown - Will have the best opportunity should Addai go down 2. Darren Sproles - Almost put him at 1, but SD offense < Colts O and AFC South has an easier schedule than AFC West 3. LeSean McCoy - Another high powered offense and Westy tends to get nicked up 4. Felix Jones - looked electric last season, but MBIII gets the goal line love 5. Reshard Mendenhall - As with all of my top 5, good offense. Doesn't hurt that he's on a run first team 6. Fred Jackson - A starter for the first 3 weeks, but when Lynch comes back? 7. Earnest Graham - He's done it before, will Ward succeed of falter? 8. Chester Taylor - Solid vet 9. Shonn Green - Unproven rookie, will he be part of a 3 headed monster in NY? 10. Kevin Jones - Who? Just kidding. He'll be on the waiver wire, be ready to be the first to jump on him if Forte goes down

    Guy offers me this.....

Agreed! Then definitely try to pull the deal for McCoy, insurance for Westbrook. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I like McCoy better than Wells anyway.

    Good Trade?

http://footballguys.com/pickvalue.htm I ran your trade through footballguys trade value calculator, and it says you should not do the trade. I didn't understand what Williams, Johnson, or Ryan had to do with your trade. Were thay part of the trade? If you go by straight picks, gaining 6 spots in the 6th and 16th rounds doesn't make up for losing 6 spots in the first and 11th.

Some things to be said about fantasy football

A lot of hate in this thread for Dallas Empire considering all 5 of his (cough) "rules" (cough) are spot on. You guys may have other reasons to bash him, but the OP is not one of those reasons.
