Round One-Three Commentary - July Mock 2024
robb replied to Mike FF Today's topic in The Mocking Station
Just like Ray stated, not a good draft position IMO. I wasn’t wanting a RB here, but nothing excited me about players left so I went “young” again with a RB who I don’t have a lot of high expectations for this year. -

Round One-Three Commentary - July Mock 2024

Well…..this draft has gone to “ hell in a handbasket” already for me! IMHO, there wasn’t a first round player available who I would take, so I settled on the Rookie from Arizona. I wanted a WR here, I am sure there is at least 1 WR you all think is worth it here, but I think he will have a drop off year and I can’t afford that in a first round pick. -

This article supports my position this year: The Golden Age Of Wideouts If you look at the first round of current Underdog best-ball drafts, you'll find just four running backs going before the turn. The other eight players going in Round 1 are wide receivers. But the wideout dominance goes beyond that. You'll see 17 receivers off the board by the end of Round 2. How about through three rounds? The number of receivers selected in the first 36 picks is 26. Nine running backs and one tight end are going in that range. There are reasons for that. The running back position is considered more volatile due to the injuries that are part and parcel of slamming into opposing defenders 20-plus times a game. It should be noted that last year, nine receivers finished in the top 12, 14 were in the top 24, and 21 were in the top 36. So we can debate how much the actual outcomes reflect our approach, but there's another factor here: We're in the golden age of wideouts

I don't usually make comments about the team I draft as I just am not good at analyzing my own team. I will leave that up to others who are much more versed than I. My strategy was to go "wide receiver heavy" which I believe I accomplished. I am not a fan of drafting TEs early, so this team shows that rather well. My QBs are exactly what I had planned, get one early and then wait for my QB2. Thanks everyone....what a quick draft this year......hope an owner who hasn't won this yet gets a 2024 win!

Not so…..you don’t see my name on here.

Jennings gives me a starter in SF if Aiyuk gets traded AND gives me backup if he goes to Washington and decreases McLaurin’s value.

16.04 WR Jauan Jennings, SF

I am just so pleased I didn't have to consider Butker here. I wouldn't want him on my sandlot team, let alone a Mock team,

Let’s just make Ray’s pick his 12.10 selection so now RC is “on the clock”!
-
Did RLLD pick out of turn? He has the 12.10 selection, not 12.09.

Matt: was it Levis or Young?

12.04 RB Tyler Allgeier, Atl

11.09 QB Deshaun Watson, Clev

WW: Dowdle was the other RB I was considering. I think he is a steal this late in the draft and I would love it if he had fallen to me in the 11th
