    Tennessee Homers....Chris Brown?

    http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...1/60803014/1027 He also missed time with a toe injury. I distinctly remember him missing various other practices with ankle and other leg problems. I didn't see anything about that though, perhaps I'm just imagining it. But anyways all the time he's missed (toe, illness, contract) plus the spitting thing, really makes him a step below Brown/Henry as of right now

    Tennessee Homers....Chris Brown?

    the funny thing is at 6'3 225-230, you'd think Brown would be a great short yardage back. He does still run upright, but since he's so freakishly tall for a RB, it always looks like he's running straight up It is really hard to predict what he's going to do this season. If he's been able to improve the durability with bulk he will turn out to make owners very happy I think. Plus it's not out of the question for him or Travis Henry to be traded. Chris Brown and Lendale White compliment each other so much better than Henry and White IMO. I hope they give him an extension during the season.

    Tennessee Homers....Chris Brown?

    I believe Brown will be healthy this year and lead the team in rushing. He's put on about 10 pounds of muscle to help his durability in the offseason. He doesn't usually get pulled in 3rd downs, since he's the best receiving and blocking RB on the team. Travis Henry has impressed some in the coaching staff, but it just seems like he doesn't do anything when he gets on the field. He may get pulled at the goal line for Lendale who knows. One thing is for sure, he's not the short yardage back, unless he's proved anything to the coaching staff in camp. He's in a contract year, and is desperate for a long term extension, so he'll be playing really hard. I think he's very capable of having 1100 total yards and 8-9 TDs this season, if he stays healthy. Just watching the game yesterday he seemed like he was clearly superior to the other RBs, and would've broke about a 40-50 yard TD but he tripped. Lendale has been out of practice w/ a myriad of injuries for most of training camp, plus he's in Fisher's doghouse for the spitting incident, and while that won't keep him out of the lineup forever, he's clearly behind Henry and Brown as of right now. I think he's a bargain in the 7th round, his ADP. I wouldn't hesitate to draft him there. Also Fisher has said in various interviews that he wants to get back to Fisherball, a dynamic running game and playing hard defense. That won't always be possible, but its good to hear him talk about refocusing on the run. Fisher has had nothing but positive things to say about Brown during training camp, he loves his work ethic, and he's really excited to see how he does. Brown's the quiet go about his business type, which is what Fisher loves. Now his agent is a little obnoxious... This homer sees Brown getting the lion's share work with Henry spelling him, and White being the goal line vulture, but I still think Brown will be able to score 8-9 TDs due to his home run threat and versatility in the passsing game. But all bets are off if he gets injured again.

    Titam WR's

    Volek + Bennett = I expect them to be nearly the same yardage with Bennett getting more TDs and looks in the red zone. If Volek goes down (which he has a knack for doing) though, it could be big trouble for the entire Titans offense if VY is thrust in the lineup before he's ready. In most mocks I've done you would neeed about a 7th or 8th to get Bennett, while Givens is usually available late. Hopefully Bennett will rekindle his love affair with Volek, which only had a brief moment of passion last season with Volek throwing a 55 yard bomb TD to Bennett in Miami. Since I'm mostly in leagues with fellow Tennnesseans I doubt I'll have a shot at taking Bennett or Givens, they'll probably go a round or two higher than their ADP Also don't forget that Bennett is in a contract year. Just checked on the Cheatsheet and Bennett's ADP is 7.09 and Givens's is 11.08 for a 12 teamer.
  5. I'm in a league that starts 2 QBs for the first time, and I'm just wondering how your draft strategies differ from a regular league. Pasing TDs are only worth 4, but I would think people would start going after QBs earlier...I've considered going RB WR WR QB QB RB RB BTW I have the first pick. I could pick up Fred Taylor in the 6th and get Greg Jones late, and Chris Brown followed by Lendale or Henry later. That way I could end up with a top 5 RB, 2 top 5 WR, and 2 top 5 QB (if the QB run doesn't go earlier than that). Just an idea I'm toying with...
  6. With the holdout of Branch and the offseason losses at WR, does anyone move Tom Brady down a notch or two in their rankings? Or has he reached the level that no matter what he's a top 3 QB? I'm in a position to draft him in the 4th/5th round, and I'm in a toss up between him and McNabb...neither one has elite receiver talent around them, I've been hung up about this all day.

    Byron Leftwitch

    I think he is a tremendous value this year. He was a very serviceable QB2 last year and should continue that trend, and since you can get him in the 12th round in most 12 teamers I don't see that as much of a risk. Before the injury he was playing very well last year. Also if your league penalizes INTs a lot he doesn't throw a lot of picks. Durability has always been a concern, mainly because he doesn't shy away from the big hit, and he does play a much tougher schedule this year than last. But I think in the 11th-14th range you really can't go wrong with Lefty.
  8. All this is based on ADP, I haven't had any of my drafts yet, so I'm just toying with a few different strategies. So this year I'm in 3 leagues, a 12 teamer, and two 10 teamers. I'll only be discussing the 10 teamers right here. As it turned out I drew 1st in one league and 10th in another. For the first league, I've given lots of thought to what kind've strategy I'll be using and I'd like to get some feedback on the different ones. In the league I'm drafting first in I've considered going RB-WR-WR-RB-QB. According to ADP, my draft could theoretically look something like this. In both leagues you start 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex. 1. LJ/SA/LT (haven't decided yet) 2. Torry Holt 3. Larry Fitzgerald 4. Reggie Bush/Reuben Droughns 5. Tom Brady 6. RB3 On paper, those teams look very good. The reason I've considered this is because I believe that having one of "the big 3" is almost like having 2 RBs. If you have one of those, I believe you can wait awhile to pick up your back up RBs and load up on depth at the position in the 6th-14th round range. Coming back around at the end of the 2nd if I chose RB, I'd likely be choosing between Julius Jones, Kevin Jones, Jamal Lewis, none of whom I believe is worthy of that pick. If I had the top RB, 2 top 5 receivers, a top 5 QB, I believe that will put me in the best position to win every week. I could probably still get several decent RBs in the other rounds such as Fred Taylor, Chris Brown, McAllister, or possibly Foster. Grab a TE like Crumpler in the 7-9 range, and I've got a very solid team. Now in the other league I'm drafting 10th, I believe it is imperative to go RB-RB in the first two rounds. Then you go after two solid receivers, and grab another RB and then go QB in the 6th. Here's what my draft could look like in the other league. 1. Ronnie Brown/Steven Jackson 2. Rudi Johnson/Caddy 3. Chris Chambers 4. Hines Ward/Darrel Jackson 5. Corey Dillon 6. Matt Hasselbeck IMO going RB-RB is the only way to make up for the disparity between one of "the big 3" and your RBs. Gathering sleeper WRs in the middle rounds such as Matt Jones/Reggie Brown/Joe Horn/Muhammad is a must with this strategy. But having that 1-2 punch at RB is awesome. Receivers are definitely 2nd tier, but the solid RBs can really help out. I'm not completely sold on doing either of these strategies just yet, but they are definitely the front runners as of now.

    Chris Brown wanting a trade?

    It's just his agent trying to get Chris a contrat extension. I don't think the Titans have any interest in trading him. Chris Brown says he wants to be a Titan, I don't believe Brown has ever said publicly that he wants a trade, it's all per his agents. I highly doubt Brown would agree to go to a team where he will serve as a backup as opposed to staying in TN as a starter.
  10. Titansonline.com has updated with an interview with 2nd round pick Lendale White. The interview can be found here Interview and here's a recent picture of him. Picture of White taken yesterday He looks to be in good shape, and the fact that he's under his goal weight is good. I'm sure he'll get back up to his normal playing weight 230-235 as the season starts. This should be an interesting training camp battle. He seems to have a great attitude, but we'll see how he holds up.

    best fantasy football host site?

    I've only been in fantasy football for a few years, and Fanball is all I've ever known. I love it though, and highly recommend it.

    RB L. White comes into camp in shape

    according to the FFToday Draft buddy, White's ADP is 8.06 in a 12 teamer. I think I'd consider taking him in the 7th if I got a good WR corps and a decent QB. I'll wait till training camp is over, so we can get a good indicator as to just how White will be used (ie goal line back) though.

    Titans agree to terms with Young;

    He doesn't look that fat here. Lendale and Vince

    Titans agree to terms with Young;

    Great news for the Titans, but I think the more pressing issue is Lendale White, since he should contribute earlier than Vince. After last years first round fiasco (P. Jones holdout) it's good to see Vince get into camp on time.
  17. Shocking. I think it's fairly obvious that the Jets made a huge mistake in letting Lamont Jordan get away. They could really use him now.

    Fall from Grace

    I agree on the Joe Horn one. People are letting him slide based on a terrible year in which New Orleans's season was essentially over before it started. With Drew Brees, and a BRUTAL schedule, I see them passing a lot in order to catch up, and I think Horn could be the main benefactor here. I have him rated higher than most and I can't see why people have completely given up on him, I believe in some leagues I could get him as a WR3, which is amazing, considering he was consistently rated top 10 before the 2005 season.

    Titans RB Brown will report to camp

    This was in the Nashville City Paper this morning STAYING PUT: Chris Brown’s trade request last week apparently fell on deaf ears where the Titans are concerned. “Chris is one of ours,” Reese said of the running back, who is in the final year of his contract. “I haven’t talked to anyone about trading him.” Brown’s agents Ryan Morgan and Wynn Silberman had been trying to pry Brown free in a trade, rather than have him be part of Tennessee’s three-pronged attack with White and Travis Henry.

    Chris Brown requests a trade

    Gaither is a 7th round pick, that I doubt will contribute on anything more than special teams. Unless something has changed, the Titans staff was very disappointed in Damien Nash last year, and I doubt they'd feel comfortable with Fleming playing tailback. If they decide to trade Brown, which if they get a first day pick they probably will, I guess it shows how much confidence they have that Lendale White is special. If Brown goes to Denver his and Lendale's value should go up considerably. As a Titans fan, I hope Brown can get it worked out with Tennessee though, because I think Brown and White complement each other much nicer than Brown/Henry or Henry/White or any other combination of backs on the roster.

    Chris Brown requests a trade

    Brown article on Yahoo Tennessee Titans running back Chris Brown, who is entering the last year of his rookie contract, officially has requested the right to seek a trade, according to Brown's representatives from Morgan Advisory Group. The Titans received official notification of the request in a letter written by agents Ryan Morgan and Wynn Silberman and delivered to the team on Monday. Brown decided his long-term future in Tennessee was in doubt after his agents met with general manager Floyd Reese. In early June, Brown became a bit anxious over the fact that he still had not received a contract extension. The Titans' drafting of USC's LenDale White and the re-signing of veteran Travis Henry further added to Brown's uneasiness. League sources said that Brown's name was mentioned in a variety of possible trades, but Reese had yet to provide Brown or his new representation permission to seek a trade. Reese, who has been on vacation in recent weeks, also had not given them any indication that the team felt obligated to negotiate a new contract. Brown entered Tennessee's most recent minicamp as the only healthy running back among the team's top three. He was prepared to have his best season, though his numbers dropped off from career bests of 1,067 rushing yards and a 4.9-yard carry average in 2004 to 851 yards and a 3.8 mark last season. At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Brown – who led the Big 12 Conference in rushing during his senior year at Colorado – has ideal size. His attributes would be best served in a run-oriented scheme that favors backs who like to make one cut, move and go, as he has shown an extra burst in the open field. Brown also has better hands than advertised (53 career receptions in 37 games). Teams that could potentially show interest in obtaining the rights to Brown include the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. The dark horse team would be the Minnesota Vikings; Brown's former position coach in college, Eric Bieniemy, is now part of the Vikings' coaching staff. I really don't think Tennessee will give permission to seek a trade. The staff doesn't trust Travis Henry, since he's just a puff away from being suspended for the entire season, and they have an unproven commodity in Lendale White, and they're not sure how he will turn out. Bottom line is Chris Brown is far and away the best RB on the roster, and I doubt they will give that away.

    RB Chris Brown wants out

    this is from kffl.com Titans | Brown wants out Thu, 20 Jul 2006 16:55:56 -0700 ESPNews reports Tennessee Titans RB Chris Brown has requested to be traded from the team. Interesting development, insiders in Nashville have said that Chris Brown's agent and General Manager Floyd Reese sat down Wednesday night to discuss an extension on Chris Brown's contract, apparently the two sides couldn't come to a conclusion since Brown requested a trade.

    Steven Jackson or Rudi Johnson

    I'd go with Rudi. Some doubters may say that his schedule is brutal this year, but if you noticed last year, as the schedule got tougher, Rudi stepped up and turned in some of his best games against Pittsburgh and Baltimore and Indy. Also Rudi's consistency (1450+ Yards 12 TDs) over the last two years has to be noticed, which is why he's the safer pick. Also when Palmer struggled a little last season (like he may do at the beginning of this season), Rudi carried the Bengals offense. Now if its a PPR league, then I'd probably go with Jackson. But all in all, I don't think their will be very far apart on the stats, so if you were to choose Jackson, I don't think you'd regret it. Either one should be solid RBs this year, with Rudi being a tad better fantasy (IMO) RB Also consider that Rudi was hurt almost all of last year, and still broke the Bengals rushing record! It seems that Rudi is completely recovered, so I look for him to turn in another marvelous season.

    What's the worst move you made?

    My worst move of last season was trading Keyshawn for Drew Bennett early on. Keyshawn had several games w/ TDs while Drew had an injured thumb. My worst near move last season could've been devastating. I came in 2nd last year in my league, and had I made this move, I wouldn't have come close. It was in the middle of the Rudi Johnson TD drought of 5 or so games, and I started eyeing the playoff schedules, and I made an offer straight up, Rudi Johnson for Fred Taylor, Rudi's upcoming schedule was grueling, with I assumed Taylor would explode the rest of the year, because his schedule was laughable, and I believe his playoff schedule was Houston and San Fran. The guy turned me down, because he said that Rudi's schedule was too tough, and Taylor's was a cakewalk. I remember reading from a lot of fantasy sites that abandoning Rudi was a good idea because he couldn't get TDs now and his upcoming schedule included 2 games with Pittsburgh, 2 with Baltimore, 1 with Indy, while Jacksonville played 1 team with a winning record for the rest of the season. Thank god he turned me down, and Rudi (my 2nd round pick) carried me to the playoffs while my 1st round pick (D. Davis) let me down. But even Rudi let me down in the championship game with his 80 yards, no TDs against Buffalo. Oh well.
