  1. child care, high home mortgages, energy costs, etc make 100k not what it used to be.
  2. They counted down the list of the top 20 sports stories in the last 20 years in New York. I remembered that I bet the Yankees vs. Montrael on July 18th, 1999. That is the day that David Cone pitched a perfect game (I had the Yankees -170), risked $850 to win $500! I think the final was 5-0. I normally don't bet that much but I had opened up an overseas account and won some money on the All-star game (took the under and it was 4-1) and some other baseball games. Anyone ever bet on a record setting/memorable game (i.e baseball milestone, recordsetting nfl/college football game, etc)?

Storing gas in your unused below ground oil tank

I should have done this. While there is some residual heating oil left in the tank, you can easily fill it with gas which will be less dense abd float on the top. I am doing it next January!
  4. What do you think? It is also a forgone conclusion that gas will also start going up again in April. It is like a self-fulfilling prophecy. The US is almost conditioned for this to take place. In April markets are jittery about the "summer driving season" and political unrest/approach of hurricane season possibly hindering supplies. Of course, the market always seems well supplied to meet this demand. Anyway, for those who commute (like me) a great distance (600 miles per week) it may actually save a boatload of money if you do this. I have a fuel efficient compact car that gets 34 mpg, but still that is some real savings as gas will likely test the $3 mark again come May/June and if a major hurricane and/or political unrest occur, all bets are off ($4/gallon). Currently prices are about $2.10 a gallon and are going to go south of $2 in the next few weeks here in NJ. I have an unused underground storage tank that used to contain heating oil which is now almost empty. There is probably like 50 gallons of heating oil left on the bottom. Switched to gas about 2 years ago. You can also store some in 55 gallon drums in your garage. It really isn't that dangerous. What do you think?

Third Eye Blind, they are awesome live!
  6. I am just doing a sampling and I would like this information. Please do it. I wish that it was mandatory for people to do this for their work emails. Let's go!

    American Idol

It is impossible to tell who was in the bottom 3 or who had the least amount of votes. Ryan said the contestants were in "no particular order" right before he told Chris to sit down.
  8. Imus was messed up back then early-mid 80s with drugs and alcohol. What do you think?
  9. Why does stern give a sh!t? 1) He is on satellite. He doesn't care anymore about the fight on radio for freedom of expression and banding together that is why he moved to satellite in the first place. 2) He hates Imus and likes to see him squirm. 3) He is retiring when his 5 year contract is up. Count on it. He alreadys said he doesn't want to do this into his 60s. He will still make a ton of money as he has the rights to his older shows and he will most likely strike a deal to have them played.
  10. Because he was a d!ck to him when Stern first joined NBC. Then Imus tried to get on Stern's good side when Stern's show was succesful and he became #1 while they were working together. Then when Stern was fired from NBC, Imus supposedly stole his talk radio format.
  11. Gay Focker

    Imus fired.

no, it started on WFAN radio (hhis flagship station) at 12 pm and would have ended with his show tomoorow at 11. He may have done some promoting for it, but it didn't actually start when he was on.

    Imus fired.

Did you know that they fired him the day before he was supposed to do his radiothon for the CJ foundation for SIDS and the Imus ranch? Very distasteful, couldn't they wait a day?

Storing gas in your unused below ground oil tank

The US is now conditioned to pay extremely high gas prices in the spring and summer. Now with any hint of Irananina trouble, gas likely to skyrocket. If the hurricane season is also especially bad, it can go up even further. I wish that I could have done this logistically.

    Bad News for Giant fans

Aren't you supposed to look at numbers when judging a QB? The biggest number is wins, and he is 19-15 (including 2 playoff losses) in his first full two years as a starter which includes a division title and a wild card berth. He played the toughest schedule in the league last year with some major team injuries. Yes he does throw inaccurate at times, but who doesn't? Even the great ones throw inaccurately a couple times a game. He obviously does it more often, but he is a young QB. Lets talk about accuracy. Did you ever think that most of those jump balls to Plax are designed? You think Eli cares about how people view this? When he has 1-1 coverage on Plax, it is designed for Eli to "throw it up for grabs" to the 6'6" Plax. Eli just cares about winning, he doesn't care about stats. Eli at times is inaccurate, I'll agree with you, but he is not as bad as you think. He will improve his accuracy issues and he did make improvement in this from 2005, just look at his completion percentage increase (52.8 in 2005 to 57.7 in 2006). I expect his completion percentage in 2007 to be >60 %. He has been shaky at times, but he is a young QB, it takes 3-5 full years as a starter to really start to play at your potential consistently (ie, Drew Brees). He will only get better. Look at some of his great games. The great comeback vs. Denver in 2005 when he only had like 10 games under his belt. The Seattle game where he led a comeback, drove them in position for the game winning field goal three times only to have Feely miss each one. If they beat Seattle in 2005, they would have had homefield throught the playoffs that year. The Philly comebacks in 2006. The great one in the beginning of the year and the playoff loss where he drove them for 10 points in the 4th quarter. I know you can site alot of bad games in there too but this is the trademark of a young QB. Eventually he will become more consistent as he gets more experience.

    Bad News for Giant fans

I don't know what you want the kid to do. He went 11-5 in his first full year as a starter and led them to a division title. In the process he threw 24 TD passes and set Giant scoring records for an offense with the second most points scored in their history. Then in 2006, even after his most reliable WR (aruably - Toomer) went down, he still led them to a wild card berth and threw 24 TD passes again, all against the toughest schedule in the league and some major team injuries. I'll admit, he's had some shaky spots but he is a young QB. You guys are sounding like he is Joey Harrington and went 3-13. Give him a break!
  16. I was thinking celbrities would be funny. Have other NBC employees show up: Stone Phillips, Kaity Chong or Brian Williams. Other celebrities would also be funny: George Bush, Mike Tyson, Hugh Heffner, Bryant Gumpbell, Cher, Madonna, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, etc. You could do so much with this. Have you seen any spoofs of this show yet?

Anybody do a spoof on to catch a predator yet?

Other NBC employees like Tom Brokaw or Stone Phillips would be funnier

    Federer > Woods

It is not fair to compare tennis to golf in that way. I think you can totally dominate tennis more than golf. Tiger is still dominating though, but in golf you will still lose tournaments. There are just too many factors in golf to win every tournament. Winning about ~50% of tournaments played in Golf is totally dominating along with coming in the top 10 of 80-90% of tournaments which is what Tiger is doing. Federer is winning 80-90% of tournaments that he plays which is also totally dominating.

If you could choose a period in time to visit

I would go back to the battle of Chancellorsville and tell Stonewall Jackson to not probe for a night attack and therefore he won't get shot by friendly fire in the darkness. This will hopefully win the battle of Gettysburg in July since the tentative Ewell will not be a Corps commander in Lee's army. It will be Stonewall and he will be able to capture Culp's hill and allow Pickett's charge to be successful. I would also tell General Albert Sydney Johnston of the CSA to attack Grant a few days earlier at Shiloh. I would also tell him to drive the Union Army into Owl Creek, away from the Tennessee river and their protection from Union gunboats at Shiloh. I would alwso tell him to make sure his subordinates are on board with his original attack plan: to attack in waves and not a full frontal assualt. Also, to not expend energy capturing the "hornet's nest", but rather continue their flanking assualts and drive the Union army away from the Tennessee river. Thus ending Grant's invasion. These actions should considerable help the Confederate cause.

Take Bush over 37.5 rushing yards, that is the lock of the century. He will have that in the 1st quarter against the tired eagle D.

Tom Coughlin gets 1 year extension

Yeah, these are the uninformed fans who look at this from afar and only listen to the biased media who don't like Coughlin. Coughlin has done a good job here. He deserves to be back.

    Packers

It is not as easy as Dallas beating Detroit. If that happens it does make it easier, but the giants could still get knocked out, although it would take a minor miracle. here is the scenario. The only one to worry about is Green Bay since we beat the Panthers and Falcons so we own the tie breaker, plus we own the tiebreaker over the rams based on common games. Giants and Green Bay end up with 8-8 records and any other teams that are 8-8. Step 3 Giants and Green Bay are tied with the best conference record at 7-5 . Step 4 Giants and Green Bay are tied in common game played at 1-4. Three or More Clubs (Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.) 1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants. 2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.) 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. 5. Strength of victory. 6. Strength of schedule. 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in conference games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games. 12. Coin toss Step 5 Green Bays 8 wins Lions 2 wins Dolphins 6 wins Cardinals 5 wins Vikings 6 wins 49ers 6 wins Lions 2 wins Vikings 6 wins Bears 13 wins Green Bay opponents have totaled of 46 wins, if Week 17 goes Green Bay way, their opponents would gain 7 more games giving Green Bay 53 wins at best case. Giants 8 wins Eagles 9 wins REDSKINS 5 wins Falcons 7 wins Cowboys 9 wins BUCCANEERS 4 wins TEXANS 5 wins Panthers 7 wins Redskins 5 wins Giants opponents have totaled of 51 wins. Eagles play Falcons will give Giants opponents a least 1 more win, Giants 52 wins at worst case. Green Bay would need every thing below to happen to have a better Strength of victory: Seattle wins over Tampa Bay 47 wins New Orleans wins over Carolina 48 wins Cleveland wins over Houston 49 wins Detroit wins over Dallas (counts as 2 wins since GB beat Detroit twice) 51 wins Miami wins over Indianapolis 52 wins (tie goes to Giants based on harder schedule no matter what happens in week 17) Minnesota wins over St. Louis 53 wins ( Packers get in) You can substitute the following games for any other two or both games for just the Dallas/Detroit game Arizona wins over San Diego San Francisco wins over Denver A tie in step 5 Step 6 Strength of schedule. Giants win.
  24. If so, why is it a good term. When someone says if Rex Grossman can get untracked, it means that he starts playing well. But literally doesn't it mean off of his track? Please explain.
