Through taxes, yes.

We put tariffs on foreign businesses that sell us cheap goods. They add those costs to the cost of their products. That makes goods that are manufactured in the US more appealing. US consumers buy more US products. In theory this creates more US businesses and US jobs. Those businesses and jobs only create revenue through … taxes. How did you think this works?

I don’t think voters ONLY voted for Trump because of inflation, but I do think they care more about kitchen table politics than creating a lot of chaos.

I wasn’t pretending Trump would lower prices Day 1. He was. I don’t think many people believed that. But I do think if prices are still high a year or 2 from now, voters will get sick of his chit like last time.

There’s no “maneuver” on my part, it was a prediction: If inflation is still high a year from now voters aren’t going to GAF about DOGE. HTH

I don’t think I’m achieving anything. I’m predicting that Trump will make a lot of noise but deliver very little, and voters will be tired of it by the midterms. Maybe I’m wrong and layoffs, tariffs and deportations lower costs matter more to Americans than the cost of food, housing, healthcare etc. But I doubt it.

That’s a trick question. Trump himself said he’d bring down costs day one. But everyone knows he won’t bring downs costs at all.

I think most Americans were pissed about inflation and wanted a change. I doubt what’s happening now is what people wanted. We’ll see though.

This solution seems more like stunt grandstanding. I suspect it will backfire spectacularly, and look forward to seeing how it plays out either way.

No doubt. It’s just the way we’re going about it is like fishing with dynamite. In addition to being arguably illegal and led by a guy with conflicts all over the place. But I look forward to seeing how it plays out..

Musk’s mass firings begin! Will be interesting to see how we reduce the federal workforce and deport 15 million illegals while also enjoying low unemployment and reduced prices.

I’m not a big college football guy. Is Hunter considered the best WR and the best corner in this class? Or are people reacting to his two-way ability? Seems unlikely he plays both ways for more than a few snaps at the pro level.

I’d expect anyone who gets brought in to be someone they have ties to. Having that person also be 1) your top donor to the tune of $300m AND 2) a government contractor whose businesses receive billions in contracts and subsidies is where the conflict of interest comes in. This would be like President Harris bringing in George Soros. Republicans would hit the roof, and unlike Musk he isn’t on the government dole. HTH but I know it won’t.

HT is just trying to get my attention. He thinks I shouldn’t root for the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, even though I’ve lived here for over 30 years.

It doesn’t matter what I think. President Musk and his sidekick are doing it anyway. I suspect the way they’re going about it will backfire. I guess we’ll see.
