Oh I get it and this is exactly what will happen. But Iran charging per shipment will be cheaper and preferable to them closing off 20% of the world’s oil. And far preferable to what an occupation would cost us. We’ll definitely come out of this in a worse spot. And invasion would compound tha blunder and there’s no chance we’ll do it.

Iran has an incentive to open the straight too. I imagine they’ll start cutting side deals either way their client countries and coke out of this in a stronger position than before after we back down. It doesn’t help Iran to hold the straight hostage indefinitely. A ground invasion would be the dumbest thing we could do IMO.
