    Making trade offers

Vick and Favre guy may want a McNabb. Try Brown, or McGahee...don't give him away for Deuce or Foster Maybe the other guy will give you Rudi...
  2. 12-team League starting 2RB, 2WR, 2QB, TE, K, D. Extra emphasis on quarterbacks (which I don't like at all), less on receivers. I'm thinking RB-RB-WR-QB-WR-QB for the first six rounds, hoping that the reduced focus on receivers will get me a Donald Driver or Plax or Roy Williams in round 5; don't like the idea of reaching to round 4 for a QB at all though. Here's the question: with pick no.7, I plan on going RB. There's a grand total of three bench spots available, meaning I've got to do 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 QB for those spots unless I want to sacrifice a week (been going through scenarios, none of them too appealing). I'm thinking Gore, Bush, Jamal, Dillon, will all be gone by now, not that I'm overly high on any of them. RB pickings are bound to be slim by this point, but I'm banking on Ahman Green still being around... Supposing Green and DeAngelo are both available. Who do I go with? Green - A starter, good player with easy schedule and promising return from injury. However, two recent bad seasons. Pack O-line questionable...new zone-blocking scheme said to be better fit, but o-line quality has looked not too good this preseason. Also catches passes, but has Gado/Davenport stealing touches and may still be injury risk? D Williams - Not a starter, but may just take over for DeShaun Foster at some point this season, if Foster gets hurt. Also returning kicks - 20yds/point, 6 for TD on returns, so he could be a good fill-in in my top two RB's bye weeks with the upside of being a possible starter. But how many kick return yards do you think he's going to get per game? 60 would be pretty good on any given day, which is just 3 points here. Or am I off-base? Or is there a better option I haven't thought of that may last to round 7? I'm pretty sure I have to go with the QB for round 6, because the league is QB7 and pickings may be very slim by round 7, but I may consider switching these two picks around and hoping Bledsoe or Plummer are still around in round 7.

    Making trade offers

If you play 1 QB, trade away McNabb. Bledsoe can tear it up this year, but if he doesn't - who cares? You have Delhomme. Brooks also may do well this year, but if he doesn't - you still have Bledsoe and Delhomme. You drafted heavy on QBs, and you're weak at RB now, so go ahead and trade McNabb for say, Warrick Dunn or work out a package deal to your advantage. I'd also say you might need a better WR than Samie Parker, but Harrison/Walker should be good, Glenn/Keyshawn fairly solid. You might also check your waiver wire. I'm high on Troy Williamson as WR, and I bet he and KCurtis are availaable in an 8-team league. Drop your backup kicker and one of your TEs (or trade, Winslow/Hilton might make good trade fodder) because they're Kickers/TEs. An RB upgrade and WR upgrade later and your team is solid.

ok, I pulled the trigger on this trade.

Good trade! Dillon way more value over Barlow IMO, and Betts v Horn is not even a question. He got screwed.

    How did I do?

Good Delhomme and Big Ben should be a good QB duo, and you have Tiki/Dunn, good starting WRs, as well as the Dallas RB - assuming one of them is a feature back, you'll be fine. Benson could start later this year; he and Williams both have upside. How many WRs do you start? If you start 3 I'd say you need to pick up or trade for another WR...you can probably sell Benson or Williams. A concern would be the RB/TE duo of Crumpler/Dunn being on the same team. I like Dunn here, see if you can't trade Crumpler for Heap straight up, or another TE of similar stature. Check mine? http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=226736 By the way, your WRs are fantastic.

    Mike Bell trade value

See if you can't get Driver/Mason/Williams straight up...hey, it's worth a shot...if you can sell it to them right. I got Mush for Bell straight up...kinda kicking myself, shoulda reached higher first...

I don't think picking up Carson Palmer is a mistake, but doing it in round 2 was premature...he might have fallen to round 3, or you might have easily waited another round or two without taking a great hit by picking a Hasselbeck or Eli. I just think Palmer in 2nd (if that's where you got him) made you miss out on a better value in a solid second RB. I can't say for sure Deshaun or Westbrook won't get hurt, but you can't say for sure that they will, either. If Foster or Westbrook somehow manage to stay healthy all season, and Moats/Williams see only spot duty or RBBC, it won't help you too much unless you can trade them high. With Moats, he's competing for No.2 carries with Buckhalter. Williams is by far your best option as a backup RB who may step in and produce this year, but it's just not a sure thing. Morency is aiming for the top spot in Houston, but so is Wali Lundy. Lundy is being tagged as the likely starter if DD can't go - I don't think he'll be a feature back, but if he is, you might have something there. Still, if it's RBBC with Wali Lundy, neither back will be very valuable. *Probably* won't need a backup TE, better spent roster spots on WR/RB depth. I'd go see if Troy Williamson or Kevin Curtis is available off waivers...they might not be, but you never know. What are your waiver options for WR? (edit) I just saw your starting lineup, was under the impression that you had to start 4 WRs. If you don't, a second TE is worth a look.

    Chambers/Pittman or Dillon/Coles?

I think Dillon is considerably, head-and-shoulders above Pittman. Coles could surprise this year, and your RB position is weak after SA. Tatum's a Denver back, so he could be anywhere from 1st to 16th on the depth chart by week 1; you'll be lucky to get more than a couple points out of Pittman any given week; Addai isn't starting yet and may bust or be mired in RBBC. Dillon will split time with Maroney, but he's still NE's feature back, and an upgrade over your current three backups. Chambers is good, but so are Plax and Mason. I wouldn't mind having this as a lineup: SA Dillon Burress Mason Coles Over this: SA Addai Chambers Burress Mason A lot of this depends on Coles, however. If you think he'll bust completely, probably not worth it. If you think he'll go 1000yds/7TDs as some have been predicting, then definitely go for it. If you're somewhere in between, I think it's your call there. Tough decision. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=226736

I'd be worried about your RBs. Who knows what Mike Bell will do this year? After that, you have a group of backups who will likely produce minimally this season, with the possible exception of Deangelo Williams. If Bell busts, which is a fair possibility, you're going to have a gaping hole in your lineup. You start four wideouts? If so, I'd look to drop a couple of your backups - Morris or Moats maybe - and pick up some extra WRs to rotate in and out for bye weeks. Terry Glenn could put up decent numbers, while Mason and Walker are good #2s, I think - Walker having upside to be a #1. Is Troy Williamson around on waivers? I agree, Palmer in round 2 was a bad move, if you did take him round 2...looks like you did. Check out my thread? http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showforum=13

    Drew Bledsoe

Okay, I'm wondering guys, why is Drew Bledsoe ranked at the #4 QB spot on FFT? It just doesn't make sense to me. My impression of Bledsoe is over-the-hill, immobile and oft-sacked. What puts him up ahead of McNabb, Bulger, Eli, Green, Plummer, Palmer, Delhomme, CPep, and others? I don't think TO would be a heavy upgrade given the risk associated, and I just don't see Bledsoe being drafted ahead of these guys. So what do you think? 7th round steal? Or is he being way overrated?

    Which players step up

Don't be crazy. Keep Driver and Taylor!
  12. z00g

    Reggie Williams vs. Ernest Wilford?

Watson, or Williamson, I think. Williamson, if WR1, is head and shoulders above the other WRs you mention...and Watson is the man.
  13. Hi, I'm set to draft soon in a league with requirements that are a bit foreign for me...12 team ppr. The thing that really throws me is the 2 quarterbacks. And only 3 bench spots - which makes bench spots a premium; no room for handcuffs or anything really. Does this force me to use those bench spots on one QB, one WR, one RB? If so, then some team is going to end up with a non-starting quarterback on the bench. If it gets to that, wouldn't it be better to take some lower-end WR or RB and, come bye week, pick up anyone who's starting from the waivers? Also on the 2QBs part...I was thinking picking my QBs round 5 to 8, but I suspect there may be a QB run earlier. I had been planning on not taking QBs til later, but having to start two affects my draft strategy in ways I'm not quite sure...does this mean you have to reach earlier for a top-tier QB? If there's an early run on QBs, do you bite? Thanks.

    Weird position requirements

I'm not sure Reggie Bush will return kicks. He'd be great at it, and he wants to, but I'm not sure they'll expose him to that injury risk. It's a good idea - but I'm not sure Bush will fall farther than round 4, so I don't think I'll get him. I'd be way uneasy having him as RB2. DeAngelo would be an intruiging prospect. Any word on if he is returning kicks? Also, Dominic Rhodes was a kick returner last year, I believe. If he continues that role, he might be worht a mid-round pick...maybe?
  15. z00g

    Weird position requirements

Yeah, we don't have points-per-completion, but there are nice bonuses for 300-yds passing, 100yds rushing, receiving, or returning. I think I'm leaning towards RB-RB, although I think I'll go WR after that just to solidify my WR position before going on a QB. Hopefully a Hasselbeck or Eli or Delhomme will be available in the 4th - maybe I shouldn't wait another round til the 5th. Interesting thing is points are awarded for returns, the exact same way points are awarded for rushing/receiving: 1 point per 20 yards, touchdowns/100-yd bonuses being the same. I'm wondering if I can get away with taking Eddie Drummond in the 10th (there's only 12 yards), or someone else who'd have a huge year returning but probably would be completely under the radar because there isn't actually a "returner" position. Good tip on watching bye weeks. I'm making a draft sheet now, and writing each player's bye week next to their name...it's going to be really important here. I don't think I'm going to try going for a 3rd QB so I can stock up on depth at WR (see the thing on returners) and be able to draft my other two QBs in the middle rounds. Any returner projections anywhere, by the way? Can't seem to find any credible ones. Not sure I can trust Yahoo.

L Jordan or Portis? Will answer yours

you've had 211 posts and you still can't spell 'board'? only jesting I think...actually, I've noticed it being spelled "bored" everywhere here, is it just tradition around here? :wonders: I'd go with Portis. Wouldn't put too much stock in the injury.

The more I think about it Mario Williams...

The NFL does not live in the fantasy world, or the hall of fame world, for that matter. Much of the battle is fought on the line. Teams are built around their lines. Have a poor D-line that can't pressure the QB or stop the run, and your opponents are going to run up the score like no tomorrow. Have a porous O-line, and no matter how flashy your back's dance moves are, you're going to suffer. The goal of the NFL draft, as opposed to the fantasy draft, is to lay the groundwork for the future of your team. The Texans had DD, they have Morency and Wally-of-the-dancing-banana-icon. But they're a new team with lots of needs, some more pressing than others. I think if they want to build a solid foundation for future success, they have to start at the lines. Reggie Bush scores touchdowns and gets first downs, but he does not get 42 points a game on his lonesome, which is what other teams will be running up on the Texans if they neglect their defensive needs for the sake of scoring a PR coup. If you want to talk about a ridiculous pick, how about Vince Young at #3 instead of Matt Leinart or Jay Cutler for the Titans?

    YAHOO: Auto-pick draft

Confirm on the fill-your-roster before drafting backups part.
  19. z00g

    Edge looked good tonight...

    M. Leinart 15/20 144 1 0 (2 rush - 20 yds) K. Warner 8/11 73 1 (1 rush - 5 yds)
  20. In a yahoo league (don't laugh ) and trying to play off of what seem like erroneous ratings to make a good trade...I'm considering offering Jamal Lewis and Drew Bennett for Warrick Dunn and Matt Jones. Lewis and Dunn are projected within 2 fantasy points of each other, but I'd much rather take Dunn. (although, to consider, Alge Crumpler is my TE) Matt Jones is getting a Yahoo! projection of 700yds/6TDs which I think (hope) is way off base. I haven't followed Jax's WR situation lately, but he's been getting a lot of love on these boards, I'd like to hear some reasons why...a little concerned because I think Drew Bennett will tear it up for at least the first couple of weeks with Volek at the helms. Bennett, by the way, is projected for 900yds/6TDs. Think he'll go for this trade? If he does, would this be a major coup?

    Palmer

Disregarding Peyton Manning for the moment, where does Palmer rank with the risk he's associated with? He's been cleared to play Monday, which suggests he'll play in the season opener - but it's being reported that he developed "bad habits" in the offseason: This hits his ADP obviously, but where do you rank him with the top other QBs in terms of fantasy points this year? Does he go below guys Hasselbeck and Eli Manning or Trent Green? Or is he still going to be a mini-Peyton, despite the risks? I'm just alarmed by the mention of "bad habits".
  22. B, def. LJ + Taylor for RBs, Holt + R Williams as WRs. Foster/Williams isn't bad, although you could probably go with another WR for pick 6 instead of Thomas Jones...someone like Drew Bennett maybe?

    Pats v. Cards

Oh really? Define "improvement upon Adam Vinatieri" and I'll believe you. I can't speak for the rest of special teams, but the kicker position has got to have HUGE ??'s coming into the season.

    Colin Cowherd's Underdog Picks

"Colin is not saying these teams will win..." Only that they might cover the spread. Oklahoma State will not win over NU, for example. Bet the farm, if you have one. Same with NIU and OSU. But the scores in those games probably won't be 45-0, either.
