Larry Johnson...don't care how far he falls, unless it's the second round (and then only to use him as trade bait). He just smells like a colossal, colossal bust this year.

Smith, Grossman, Losman - they just have that "stay away" aura to them, I don't know why. It makes me feel they'll certainly outperform their draft position...targeting these guys late for #2 QB.

How can you say that??! w.r.t. Bjax, I'm a fan of him but so far he's been taking his lumps in training camp. Reports say he's consistently been getting schooled trying to pick up blitzes...I can only say, I hope he improves, and better to take his lumps now so he can pull out of that rut. This means, I doubt he's value as a fantasy pick before the 7th/8th round. I would target him mid-8th; his stock, IMO, has only dropped recently. We'll see if he can pick it back up but as of now, it seems ridiculous that some people are saying he could/should go in the 5th roundish.

I read on SI.com today in the Lions training camp postcard that QB Drew Stanton had been placed on IR, meaning he's out for the season. I had no idea he was even injured. As bad as Quinn's start in Cleveland is, this seems like a horrible way to start your career for what could turn out to be the Lion's QB of the future...that's what he was drafted for, right? Not purely a fantasy question, but how long is Kitna supposed to hold down the job? What does the Lion's QB position look like in the next few years?

With regard to Jackson, I believe Coach Linehan did specifically talk about reducing Jackson's load this season. I don't remember where the article was, but I remember reading it a while ago and going, "Hm...."

Forgive me, I'm a little new :-P Last year was my first year doing a live draft, and I remember I did a couple of mocks before hand to get a feel for what to expect. However, I don't know where I did them. So I figured I'd ask this board...what are some popular stopping grounds for mocks?

I've seen people talk about this 'bored' so many times I've lost count, but that's the first time I've seen 'forearm.' Not trying to pick anything, but just wondering things like 'bored' are intentional? If so, what's the history behind it? I'm curious.

So basically, it's a fair risk to take guys like CJ and AP early. I've noticed Calvin taken in the 5th quite a few times, and some people seem really high on him, pointing to Randy Moss's rookie season. FFtoday has incredibly low projections for Calvin though. I agree, and expectations are mostly defined by draft position...so I think it's not a bad idea to take some rookies after the 12th round or so, even though they are more low profile. In an August mock last year, MJD fell to me in the 13th round. It seems like the rookies we're centered on this year are the high-profile ones - Calvin, AP, Lynch especially. But what about guys like, say, Chris Henry? Greg Olsen? Ahmad Bradshaw? Probably not at the QB position, but I think Henry might be worth the risk in late rounds, with better upside than LenDale White or Chris Brown.

Yeah, in all the mocks I've done, I haven't noticed TEs going this early...Winslow in the 7th perhaps, and he's one of the first TEs off the board after Gates. Hard to imagine a round 6 run on TEs...hey, it could happen. Still think I'd hold off - and do as you suggested, settle for someone in the 9th or 10th.

The Olympic sprinter is Justin Gatlin, I believe. One of the fastest men in the world.

I like the strategy of drafting QBs late; this year I've been shooting for Rivers/Manning typically (I would maybe, but reluctantly go for a 2nd year, and probably not as my #1). I'd also avoid Trent Green because of durability concerns and...we'll see if he can give me more confidence come September. But anyways, I first started following this strategy last year, and it didn't work out for me at all. Which is why I'm a little worried. I ended last year with Eli/Rivers somehow, but coming out of the draft, I thought I had two stud QBs in the 6th and 7th.... .... ....their names were.... ....Jake Plummer and Drew Bledsoe. (To be fair, this is mainly an issue with job security, age, and the presence of a young up-and-comer. For these reasons I'm going to avoid Green, Kitna, and McNabb if concerns about his health start swirling, and Losman if they start talking about Trent Edwards having a fantastic camp/preseason...I seem to remember Bill Parcells saying no way he was going to pull Drew Bledsoe. And then he did.)

What about Manning-WR-RB-RB-RB? I would say RB-Manning-RB-WR would be fairly decent, if you can land him in the 2nd.

IMO, give up Maroney and Westbrook if he won't take McGahee (otherwise, do that)...then be happy with SJax, Parker, and McGahee (or Maroney otherwise)...least risk for you, biggest chance he gets screwed if Westbrook/Maroney go down or bust. Rather do Westbrook/McGahee though.

IIRC, Portis WAS a #1 RB in Denver and was used as such. Why he was traded after the season, I don't know, but he was damn productive that season.

Yep. The advantage of both of those is live drafts. 45/60 seconds between picks. It looks like FFcalculator is incredibly buggy though...I was drafting...made my first two picks...then midway through the 3rd round it got stuck at someone else's pick, nothing happened. I was like, "WTF?" and apparently three rounds had gone by, we were actually in round 6, and the comp drafted a bunch of players for me whom I wasn't targeting. My experience with mockdraft central has been overwhelmingly positive, though.

I have on occasion taken Bell as my 3rd RB But I think I'll try to stay away from this as...it seems really unclear what the RB situation for Detroit will be. I heard that Bell was looked at as the starter...but does anyone really know??
