  1. Edge will be a top 5 back once again this year and everybody who passes on him will regret it by season's end. Edge is out to prove that he is a great running back and not just a product of Indy's offense.............................

Because he's out to prove that he is a great running back and not just a product of Indy's offense. We don't know substantively yet. We won't until we see him play.

    Gosh.

  3. I forgot all about this name! didn't he have a good year once with 8ish td's in 1988 before his back to back to back to back years missed? He was the pounder/short yardage guy. Possibly a late pick up if he's back on the radar! Keep us informed.

He had an alright season first or second year I believe...but he came out in 2000 for the '01 season, unless I'm mistaken.

  4. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on these four receivers (I think they all belong in tier-2 or lower)...

Galloway - gets a lot of good projections after last year, but is getting pretty ancient. I think the consensus is we doubt he'll repeat. Right?

Evans - Discussed just recently; has upside, but also has ... J.P. Losman also.

Walker - With Rod Smith also being ancient, there's a lot of talk about him being the #1 receiver de facto this year in Denver, given his talent. But can't we see him just injuring himself again at some point during the season?

Williams - Also a lot of talent, and with somewhat of a better QB to throw to him this year. I don't think there's too much to get down on here.

So who benefits in a straight up trade: Galloway/Evans for Walker/RWilliams?

  5. I thought Caldwell was going to be the No.2 guy - I believe he's been doing great in camp, and with Jackson still sitting on that hamstring...

Well, suppose Branch misses a few games, or maybe a season. It's unlikely, but supposing he does: how does Chad Jackson factor in then?

And supposing he doesn't? Caldwell/Jackson would then be non-factors, I presume?

  6. Heh, he isn't even listed as a player in my Yahoo league. There hasn't been a hush about him in any of the player notes. :-P Guess I don't have to worry about anyone else taking him before we get to see him in a few preseason games.

  7. 1) C-mart will never retire, obviously. He is God and will live forever. There will be no decline in his fantasy production, as he is God. As for #2 and #3 behind him, I'm not sure - think they got someone in the draft, and Derrick Blaylock, a former Chief. They might be looking into trading for someone else in there.

    2) I believe it's Buckhalter, if he's fine after his injury. At least, the SI.com preview had it listed as Buckhalter.

    3) Consensus from previous threads here seem to say RBBC or 60-40 Barlow's way, despite the media love for Gore recently.

    4) It may be a result of severe radiation. Have your x-rayed your inguinal region recently without lead and/or a physician's supervision?

  8. To those who feel surprised taht J Lewis fell to the 10th round, most autodrafts require you to fill a roster before making bench picks. Chances are that a full set of K's and a full set of D/ST's went before Lewis.

Good call on that...I checked it and it looks like you're right; all the starting D's and kickers went out rounds 5-9. Some other RB3s in the league: Curtis Martin, Corey Dillon, Tatum Bell. That would explain it.

the best part of the fantasy season is the draft so I dont quite understand where you are coming from..

Second of all, if you don't have the "time or will" for a draft, then you should find a new hobby. The draft MAKES the fantasy season for most of us, and bagging your draft due to a lack of "time or will" is kinda like taking your sister to the prom: sure, she might look nice, but you can't get excited about anything happening afterwards. And if you do, you're just sick.

Well, there are some things not agonizing three hours over to me, such as "LT or SA??" I'll save the decisions for the season. Making midseason roster changes to add to the W column is more fun than speculating on whether I think Player X is going to taken the next round or should I grab him now...I enjoy fantasy football, but I'm not that hardcore over it. :-P

I'm high on McNair as a player, but I'm not sure I want to be in a situation where I'm forced to start a QB/RB from the same team.

Benson just got carted off the field. Scary, too early to make a move on him yet.

Thanks for the input, everyone. :P

  9. I had a Yahoo! autopick draft (10-team league) because I didn't really have the time or will to stick through a live draft...of course, even messing around with the preranking of players can be a little arbitrary. Wasn't exactly what I wanted, but:

    1. R. Brown (RB)

    2. S. Jackson (RB)

    3. C. Palmer (QB)

    4. D. Driver (WR)

    5. J. Galloway (WR)

    6. A. Crumpler (TE)

    7. L. Evans (WR)

    8. PITT DEF

    9. J. Wilkins (K)

    10. J. Lewis (RB)

    11. B. Watson (TE)

    12. D. Bennett (WR)

    13. NEW ENGLAND DEF

    14. C. Pennington (QB)

    15. C. Jackson (WR)

So, I looked at the draft results and it seems some wacky things happened, such as Hines Ward being taken in the first round.

I've got a #3 out of 10 waiver position currently, and there are a lot of decent choices on there, though keep in mind - it's a 10-team league. I'm wondering if I should grab some of these people right away, or wait a couple days when they become FA's:

    A. Green (what's the story on him, anyway?)

    F. Gore

    C. Benson

    A. Brooks

    S. McNair

    P. Rivers

    C. Frye

    D. Carr

    J. Kitna

    B. Volek

    C. Rogers

    Ma. Clayton

My thoughts - well, I'm a little reserved about Jamal Lewis, even though after browsing here and hearing tons of effusive predictions of him, I'm not so sure. I'm currently angling to get Ahman Green off waivers for Chad Jackson to shore up some depth at RB - but between those three available RBs, I'm not at all sure which is the best bet.

For QB, I actually wanted Tom Brady but he got picked before Palmer in the same round - so I don't know if I can do a trade such as Palmer/Driver (or another one of my WRs) for Eli Manning/Tory Holt, because I'm a little concerned about Palmer's health. And my backup. There are probably a host of better choices on the waiver wire as listed above, but - I can't get over watching Pennington play in the '02 playoffs. Every year I think, okay, this'll be the year he replicates 2002. Is this just a blind hope?

For TEs, I'm excited about Ben Watson despite his cellar-dwelling projections on Yahoo!, though I'm not too familiar with Crumpler. WRs - I have to hope Driver pulls off something amazing, with Javon Walker gone, but is he really a WR1? I was expecting to get a WR in round 3, but the autopick worked out differently. As for Galloway - he has an absurdly favorable projection on Yahoo! in my opinion (1200 yds / 8 tds); I always thought he was on the decline and may get supplanted by younger guys. Of course I'm not too familiar with the situation in Tampa Bay - what do you guys think? How about Lee Evans? Who's passing the ball at Buffalo, anyway?

I'm *very* surprised at getting Drew Bennett in such a late round. I remember a few years ago, he and Billy Volek saved my ass in the final stretch before the playoffs; now, well, Volek is starting (for how long? I'd think rookie QBs get a year on the bench)...so is D. Bennett just being severely underrated, or is the consensus really that he's not going to do well this year?

I guess I better just hope for the best. Kickers and Defenses are always ambiguous, at least in my eyes...it's hard to really say from what yard-line a guy will take his field goals any given week, or how many sacks a defensive will force...but I think I should get some preseason management out of the way, and that I should use my 3rd-ranked waiver spot to my advantage should there be an immediate scramble for the waiver wire.

By the way, apologies in advance if some of my opinions are horribly misguided. I'm not quite an expert :-P
