  1. LOL "I think McCoy in Round 2 is a bit of a stretch now, but he does have the potential to justify taking him that high if Sproles gets off to a slow start next year"... My statement is basically the same as yours...how does it sound?

Best free site for keeper league

I'm the commish of a keeper league with rules similar to what you described. Owners select 3 players off the previous years' roster and the players are slotted 1 round earlier than the previous year (last years 5th round pick will cost you a 4th round pick this year). I've used Yahoo (online draft) for 8 years, and it's worked out great. When setting it up, I use the section under "Draft Management" that says "Edit Draft Order and Assign Keeper Players." This allows me to manually assign keeper players in the appropriate round before the draft, which sounds like what you're trying to do...

    Ethics: Vary League to League?

Looks like you didn't read my last post...I decided not to throw it, and play it straight up. Plus, I'm hardly a "newbie"...been playing multiple $ leagues ever year for 10+ year. I'm pretty sure the majority of seasoned players on this board would agree that vetoing deals as part of "strategy" isn't exactly ethical...the point of my original post is whether you can apply different ethical standards to different leagues, based on their cultures. You sure you aren't the newbie?

    Ethics: Vary League to League?

Of the key players I was dealing, L. Bell is my weekly flex and Cruz is my WR2. The owner I was trading with is alternating Joique Bell and Brian Leonard as his RB2, and playing Charles Clay in his flex. Clearly, he's got some gaping holes in his lineup this deal would've filled... Regardless, I really wasn't trying to get everyone's opinion on whether the value exchanged was fair or not. My original post was more about whether I would've been justified in "retaliating" by tanking my match. Anyway, I decided not to...at the end of the day, I'm just not willing to do something I know is wrong to gain an edge in a fairly meaningless game... Thanks for your feedback, gents...

    Ethics: Vary League to League?

I appreciate your response...well thought out, and actually pretty close to what I know is right. If I have to compete with a handicap, so be it...it'll make my eventual victory that much sweeter. As for looking for a new job, not really an option. I'm in sales and have a well-defined territory, so there really is no ability/incentive for back-stabbing. I actually like these guys on a personal level...I just think some of them are a little less seasoned and don't understand the ethics behind fantasy.
  6. OK, so I'm in 3 fantasy leagues - 2 of them I'm the commish in, and 1 is my office league. I've always been a "by the book" commish, with well-documented rules and code-of-conduct in place so shady moves won't/can't happen. No lopsided deals, no league vetoes, no dumping, churning, etc. My office league is a different story...they go by a "code" that would never wash in most $ leagues. They'll lobby to have other owners' trades vetoed; owners with $0 FAAB will have buddies pick up a player off waivers and immediately deal them...that kind of stuff. I kind of blew it off until today...my team is now 10-1, and assured of a #1 seed. I worked out a deal to get Calvin Johnson in exchange for LeVeon Bell, Victor Cruz, Keenan Allen, and Greg Olsen. I intentionally overpaid...and still, it got vetoed (7 votes). The commish even came over to tell me that they had to kill it because allowing it would basically be "handing me the championship" (sorry, but any team can be beaten). This week I'm matched up against the weakest of the teams contending for the playoffs. Normally, I wouldn't even consider it, but I'm leaning towards dumping my match to him and and push one of the other (stronger) contenders out. I know, bad karma...whatever...I'll take my chances. These guys play by different rules than I, and most posters on this board, are used to. So my questions to you all are: 1. Would you dump your match if you were in my position? 2. Do you adjust your ethics from league-to-league, based on how your competitors play the game?

    Husband and wife trade... collusion?

My wife and I have owned separate teams in the same league for 7 seasons now (and I'm the commish). Thing is, we have an unofficial "no-trade" rule with each other. It's not illegal for us to make trades with each other, but we're conscious of the scrutiny we'd come under if we tried....so we just don't do it. If we were ever to do a deal, it would look a lot more even than the trade described above. There needs to be some strategic logic for both sides behind the deal, and there is none for the husband here...

    Cam or Freeman?

I know you're not supposed to bench your studs, but Philly can't stop anybody these days so Freeman looks solid. Who to roll the dice with?

    QB and Flex Help

I'd play Jones...we learned last week that Minn won't throw it if they don't have to. Against Tenn, they might be able to run it all day (although Rudolph is still a good play). We know Green Bay will be throwing it a ton...think Jones is a bit safer. As for your QBs...can't you trade one of them? Flip a coin, because they're both great plays...there is no wrong answer, so just play the guy you like better and enjoy...
  11. Keeper league...each team keeps 3 players/year. This deal just went down, and I'm the commish (and the only one with veto power): Owner #1 (who's 1-3) gives: - Chris Johnson (can be kept for 2nd round pick next year) - 8th round draft pick Owner #2 (who's 2-2) gives: - Shaun Draughn - 4th round draft pick Neither owner has Charles, so no handcuff play. In 6 years, I've never vetoed a deal, but this doesn't smell right. Interested in getting others' thoughts...

    I BROKE MY OWN RULE

So who would you have taken in the mid-first round instead? Calvin? CJ0K? McFadden? Too soon to come to any conclusions...
  13. Drafted from the last slot (#12) in both of my money leagues. Waited on drafting QB in both leagues (Roethlisberger and Freeman as QB1s). Picked up Cam Newton after week 1 in both leagues. Won the championship in both leagues...

WR conundrum - all in on Dallas?

If Ben does play, Brown's a no-brainer. If Ben doesn't play, SF will stack the line against the run, so Pittsburgh will be forced to throw. Brown should still get enough short- to intermediate routes to give him some decent #s (not so sure about Wallace, though). In Dallas, you've got Dez, Miles, Laurent, and Witten all sharing targets...plus, Tampa is terrible against the run, so expect a lot of Felix. Dez only had 1 reception for 50 yards and a TD last week in a shootout. He seems like high risk, high reward. Crabtree just isn't very explosive, so Taylor should shut him down. Spiller could be worth a shot, but Miami just doesn't give up many yards or TDs to anybody. I'd expect around 5-7 points from either of these guys. So in the end, I'd look at who your head-to-head matchup is with. If you're favored, play it safe and go with Brown (I'd expect 7-10 pts from him). If you're a dog and need to gamble on a big game, I'd go with Dez...could be anywhere between 3 and 15 pts.

    Cam or Tebow?

First off, I'm in the semis in both of my $ leagues and have Cam as my regular starting QB in both. Tough matchup with Houston has me a little nervous. In one league, he's a must-play since I have Big Ben as a backup. In my other league, Tebow's my #2... Do I go "all-in" with Cam in both leagues with a tough match-up? Or do I "diversify" by playing The Chosen One in my 2nd league with a nice match-up at home against NE? I'd really hate to see one horrible Cam outing kill my chances in 2 leagues...
