Yeah I get you. Though I like the idea of a set it and forget it. "You may not be able to predict the performance of the S&P 500 Index for the next 20 years, but you are not alone. In one of his annual letters to shareholders, Warren Buffett included an excerpt from his will that ordered his children’s inheritance to be placed in an S&P 500 Index fund because the “long-term results from this policy will be superior to those attained by most investors—whether pension funds, institutions, or individuals who employ high-fee managers.” Unpack that a little. Here's a guy who makes his money being the last thing on that list right? Essentially saying, we high-fee managers can't beat the index.

So maybe I don't do any of it... just put it all in VOO and let it ride. Or... much more conservatively... I have a Discover Bank savings account @ 4.30%. I'd get roughly $15K a year just leaving it in savings...
-
Yeah I don't NEED the 300 really. I'll have a pension, SS (early supplement), and TSP (401K) should be somewhere around $110K not to include the wife's job. So this is just... money to make money.
-
I'm not worried.... the SP500 has averaged 11.8% per year since 1957... wars.. rumors of war.. recessions... what have you. Yes... can I lose money? Sure.. I'm still down $100k from my high in 2021 in my 401K... But I'm not overly worried it won't come back... sh!t always goes up and to the right eventually.

So ran into some anxiety/depression issues a few years back. Apparently ptsd from seeing dead people in all aspects, people beat to a pulp, etc can wear on a guy after 20 years. Anyway... I went through a bout of seeing someone to help that out. During this time we started discussing different aspects of childhood and how I currently dealt with negativity etc. She asked what my inner voice was like? How did I Speak to myself if I failed something or how did I encourage myself?🫤 I was like... uhhh... well... it's mostly things like "You stupid motherfocker! Fock you are dumb!" "How the fock are you so dumb?" She was like WHAT?!! You actually say those things? I response hesitantly... uhm yes... all the time. My whole life. Why? Is that not what it's supposed to be? She said no... no that's not what it's supposed to be. In fact thats really bad. Oh....

Thr blood pressures going goofy... after being stable for a decade.
-
Yeah....can't prove it, but was forced to take the jab or lose my job in the fed with 3 years to retire. Anyway... my blood pressure started running away last year. After being in very minimal medication for 10 years for it. Finally got it somewhat calmed down with a pile of different meds, but still flares up. All happened a few months after the jabs....

Honestly... the S&P500 index fund. It has averaged 12% /yr since inception somewhere around 1957. Vanguard founder (dead) John Bogle said everyone tries to beat the market ie SP500 and it really long term can't be done. Mess around with some financial calculators, my favorite is the compounding interest one at investor.gov here: https://www.investor.gov/financial-tools-calculators/calculators/compound-interest-calculator Put in whatever you have right now say $5000... plus whatever you'll put in a month say $1000. Then say 20 years for a time frame @ 10% +/-3%. Straight math.. but yeah.

Dual wield rogue... yeah I remember digging the first one. I recall playing this one a little but but I know I didn't finish it. I'm digging it so far.

Haha.. I forgot we were PSN buddies. I was feeling RPG'ish and started playing last night.

Welp... she got the job! In the paperwork they're saying there's a possibility of a year probation. She's a little hung up on that as she's been a fed for 15 years. She doesn't want to be at the whims of a new supervisor like that. So she's going to chat the HR lady up tomorrow prior to accepting the tentative offer. Reading the email I think it's more a generic letter, so it won't even apply to her. Looks like we're heading on an adventure soon! Weeeeeee!

Promotion at work.. also fostered a 2 year old little girl which we adopted. Started over with child rearing essentially.

Ah... I knew you'd come shadow. Wait... I actually forgot about you, but here you are. How's life? You seem as chipper as ever Ehore.

Been playing in my geek league non stop. Juat got pretty meh with the Trump/Biden BAD rinse and repeat cycle that seems to inundate the bored. Thanks for the welcome back!

Dig her... she can say a lot of truths many conservatives can't without coming off rasis. Has some good thoughts, though every once in awhile she shows she may not be as intelligent as you first think. Also... would schmash in fairytale land.

Army... DoD civilian.

Yeah, I thought about that right away. Guess we'll see if she gets the offer. Hopefully in the next week or so we'll know. Looking on line they say learning to speak Japanese is actually very doable. Learning to read/write it, yoooge painful endeavor. Luckily in this day and age you have apps will read it from your camera or speak translations. So at least I'll be able to order food or find the pisser.
-
Pretty sure that counts.

I have a pule od WR's that scored 15-20 pta last game... feel free to offer.
