I can't retire until I'm 50... at the end of October I'll have enough leave built up to be done... albeit I retire as a GS 14/07 with LEAP on 11/30/2024. Then... I'm done. Totally done... at 49 yo and 2 weeks shy of 50. I'll have my pension, RAS (retirement annuity supplement ie fake soc security from 50-62), and early access to my TSP (.gov's 401k) totalling around $114k gross a year for life.... from 49, almost 50 on... I'll never have to work again. We tried to push the Japan pcs thing back as far as we could but they made her go in May. The last 5 months I have left HAVE be done from the States... so... it is what it is. Other side of the coin... she's super jelly of the time I get to spend with our son here. This isn't just a quick money thing... this is the last part of a 26 year career. Can't be fluffed... can't be negotiated... gotta be done. We knew it was gonna suck. It just.... does. Haha... but I think this next three weeks will really help recharge the batteries for the final push of the last couple months left.

Okay Jerry Rogan...

I appreciate it man... I really do. Drifting I to some depression spots now and again. If it wasn't being able to see my son stationed here in the Space Force and lifting 4 days a week I'd go crazy.
-
We'll do 3 years and then they move us back with a guaranteed job return for her. She has a pretty good opportunity for a GS-13 next year when her boss rotates out, but if she doesn't get it we'll put in for Germany or Italy.
-
Yeah heading back with my son next week. We'll be in Japan for 3 weeks. Then I come back and do 2 more months before I retire and move over permanently.
-
Dude that sounds so empty...

Time difference may jack me up... I'll be in Japan the next 2 drafts. But should still be okay.
-
We can write it in this year!
-
We thought you was dead Cleetus!
-
Well... including devilwoman that's 6 of us. Anyone have one of their guys say yes to replacing? I may have a guy as well.
-
I'm for replacement at this point, so we can move on with the draft. If we are in concensus let's decide today and get a new owner, today. Poll? Majority decides?

Yeah this is the other end of essentially waiving the rules for someone without any real communication (ie an actual response and good excuse). It's not fair to the rest of us. That being said I think we've been more than patient to a guy everyone has been messaging and texting for days now. Gypsy you are doing a good job. I can understand your compassion and just trying to make it work. Heavy layith the crown and all that bro. Devilwoman I'm right there with your frustration, but we've got a good thing going here. Hope you stick around. This will be a blip on the radar down the road, and a good league learning experience.

Yeah it's about that time.

While I would be fine with this essentially, we need to put something in the constitution regarding leeway. If not, then we're just making sh!t up as we go. That being said, I thought we had people emailing and maybe texting him personally yesterday? Uhhhh... what happened? No answer? Again... is he sick or dead? Again... not trying to be crass or unsympathetic, how do we know?

Ah.. so nothing. We never did put teeth I to that.
-
So what's the rules say? He gets all his picks skipped?

They've put me out to pasture boys. They know I'm retiring at the end of October. So they put my heir apparent into a "acting" me position for the next 120 days. They pretty much want him running the day to day. They've put me on revamping the policy/sops that haven't been touched since 2003. I'm supposed to help him with his questions, and mentor here or there. Honestly he'll do a way better job than me. He's still young enough and has enough time left to get after it. I'm not complaining... gives me time to lift 5x a week... cruise the interwebs. Though... I honestly can't freaking wait until October. This is a little brutal. Being no busy for the first time in 26 years is dragging... Plus... I miss my family. It's been two months since I left Japan. Going back the 1st week of August for 3 weeks, and then coming back to finish up. As of this week... 100% debt free... no house or car payments... no credit card debt... nada. It's a little weird feeling.

Right on the money with the SOP's. Right now our "handbook" is a weird amalgamation of policy and standard operating procedure. Meaning it's half "this is the rule" and "this is the agreed upon best practice/easiest way to adhere too or implement that policy". So we really need to separate them out. Going against policy will get you jammed up, legally even. Going against SOP... not so much. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I want to make sure just because you aren't doing it the exact way it says, you aren't written up for a policy violation, or "out of scope" and find yourself personally liable etc. for focking up. Really... I want the SOPs to be something a rookie agent can come in and say... how the heck do I do this? And the SOP can give them a guide, and as long as they follow the guide, they should be good to go policy wise. Most of its not rocket surgery, ie stuff like "when interviewing/interacting with an informant you are required to have more than one agent present". Just general stuff like that...
