Yeah... 180 days, BUT as we live on a US base, they can quarantine from home. Our civilian vet focked up the series of rabies shots. Knowing there is a 180 day in country quarantine we started the rabies series back in Febuary. You are supposed to wait 30 days between the two rabies shots. Well... the smart girl doing the scheduling forgot to thing about their being a short month in February, so our 180 didn't count, cause she f'd up the timeline. I had to bring the bulldogge into Ft. Carson this week to get her another rabies shot and FAVN test. So now... while we had planned it perfectly for her to be out of the 180 quarenteen before we flew her out in October, her timeline starts over. Thank goodness they will let her just quarantine at home. Only decent thing that came out of the mess up is the civilian vet acknowledged their fock up and said they would pay for the re-vax and FAVN test again.

Bringing our son with me this time. He took leave from the .mil, and this will be his first time overseas. Looking forward to seeing the fam after this last 2.5 months away. Once I get back.... I'll have 35 work days left. I've figured it that October 18th will be my last "office day". Essentially just fedex'ing out my computer, phone, credentials, vest, and glock. Burning 200 annual leave hours at the end so my official "retirement" date is Nov. 30th, but... I already have a one way ticket to the Japans for Oct. 19th. Telling you... if you haven't brought a dog overseas it is a YOOOGE pain in the ass. Lots of vet visits for series of rabies shots and tests. Then within 10 days of flying out a .gov vet clean bill of health. Oh... did I mention it's $3,100 to ship our bulldogge? Sheesh... Anyway, after working in this field for 26 years I'm soooooo ready to call her good boys.

Yeah maybe that's why it's irritating. I really doubt the majority of the nastiness would be said to a guys face. Not that a good political argument is a bad thing face to face, it's like anything else on the interwebs, lotta tough guys. In real life most people can have a conversation.

So I've been married 23 years. Over the years we've been apart quite a bit as I was sent out for weeks to months at a time for TDY's. During that time I'd be able to come home for a week or so in between if it was a particularly long stint. Now... wife in Japan and me here in Colorado Springs, it's been about 2 and a half months since I've seen her. Boys... this seriously focking sucks. I'm absolutely not a fan of being away from my wife this long. Unlike some who like to b!tch and complain about their wives and how this would be great... no... this is terrible. I don't know how anyone wants to be single in their 40's or 50's. Granted... I realize there are some really bad situations that need to end, but for my situation... ya this sucks.

She doesn't. We moved to Japan. We're on an Army base there for 3+ years. I'm heading over as soon as works "done".

Yeah I'm sure they loved it and we're glad they weren't home. Don't be stupid and try to compare different sh!t.

I can't retire until I'm 50... at the end of October I'll have enough leave built up to be done... albeit I retire as a GS 14/07 with LEAP on 11/30/2024. Then... I'm done. Totally done... at 49 yo and 2 weeks shy of 50. I'll have my pension, RAS (retirement annuity supplement ie fake soc security from 50-62), and early access to my TSP (.gov's 401k) totalling around $114k gross a year for life.... from 49, almost 50 on... I'll never have to work again. We tried to push the Japan pcs thing back as far as we could but they made her go in May. The last 5 months I have left HAVE be done from the States... so... it is what it is. Other side of the coin... she's super jelly of the time I get to spend with our son here. This isn't just a quick money thing... this is the last part of a 26 year career. Can't be fluffed... can't be negotiated... gotta be done. We knew it was gonna suck. It just.... does. Haha... but I think this next three weeks will really help recharge the batteries for the final push of the last couple months left.

I appreciate it man... I really do. Drifting I to some depression spots now and again. If it wasn't being able to see my son stationed here in the Space Force and lifting 4 days a week I'd go crazy.

We'll do 3 years and then they move us back with a guaranteed job return for her. She has a pretty good opportunity for a GS-13 next year when her boss rotates out, but if she doesn't get it we'll put in for Germany or Italy.

Yeah heading back with my son next week. We'll be in Japan for 3 weeks. Then I come back and do 2 more months before I retire and move over permanently.
