  1. Well, the injury bug has already reared its head with Henry, his preseason was cut short thanks to a knee sprain he fully healed from. Also, per ESPN:

Despite hurting his ankle in the third quarter, Henry carried the ball 13 times in the fourth quarter and in overtime in Sunday's win over the Raiders, the Denver Post reports. "My ankle was hurting, but I had to finish it off," Henry said. "I had to." Henry said the injury is not serious and added that he expects to play this coming Sunday against Jacksonville.

Henry (ankle) is not mentioned on the Broncos' Wednesday injury report. Henry tweaked his ankle (and play through it) in Week 2, so this looks like a non-issue at the moment.

    Maybe he's clear?

I think he'll be okay, and as a perfect fit in Denver and their offense, that means a very productive year - I'm expecting Portis-like numbers actually, which makes sense as Henry is the best RB they've had since Portis. I'm a Henry owner myself, and might offer him in a trade for SJax or LJ but I'm also content with him producing every week.

Who knows, Henry could end up being the most productive RB in the AFC West this year. I'm starting him this week against the Jags, Stroud and Henderson are dinged up and the game is at Mile High.

  2. There's also the matter of the Jets having a gaping hole at left guard, between two second-year pros, thanks to foolishly getting rid of proven veteran Pete Kendall (much to the great benefit of the Washington Redskins). That's not good for the passing game (QB hits anyone?) nor the running game.

  3. Someone just dropped Reggie Brown in one of my leagues as well, and I think I'll put my top spot on the waiver wire to use. The Eagles offense has played two of the best defenses in the NFC and McNabb is getting back in the thick of things. Brown will play the Giants twice, the Cowboys twice, the NFC North minus the great Packers defense, and the AFC East: a lot of shaky secondaries and good matchups lie ahead.

More importantly, my current receivers are Lee Evans/Deion Branch/Kevin Curtis/Vernon Davis (we start 2 Wrs and a WR/TE), so obviously there's room for improvement.

  4. I'm not so sure Bulger will have a great game this weekend, Tampa's defense puts up a good fight at home (especially this time of year before they are worn down). I'm debating whether I should start Bulger or Jason Campbell against a miserable Giants defense at home, and am leaning towards Campbell at the moment actually.

  5. i think you could probably get an LT or Sjax for travis henry from the right panicked owner.

As a Henry owner myself, I'm thinking the same. It might be too soon to test the trade waters though, maybe one more week will do it - Henry plays the Jags at home, LT a tough Packers defense at Lambeau, and S-Jax the Bucs defense in Tampa.

I wouldn't mind hanging on to Henry though, he's a very good back in a great situation. I think he'll put up numbers comparable to or pretty close to Portis some years ago, Henry is the best RB Denver has had since Portis. And I've definitely got Selvin Young on the bench, just in case.

  6. I still like Benson, personally. The Bears should keep the faith in him and keep feeding him the ball.

I wonder if Griese is the answer. He's never really proved much either. But if things don't change, its worth a try.

If the question is "how to get bounced from the playoffs?" then yes, Griese is the answer.

  7. Portis is a Top 5 back in this league when healthy. It amazed me beyond belief how many forgot that because of one freak injury-plagued season.

I gladfully drafted Portis in the 3rd round in one league, and would have drafted him in another if the pick wasn't 2.1 and Travis Henry was on the board.

  8. I certainly hope so. I need Duke and Matt Stover to overcome a 26-point deficit and outscore Anquan Boldin.

Helps that Arizona's pass coverage is painfully weak and Davis is a beast in the making, and the Bengals aren't that much better. I've said that the two most exciting teams will be the Arizona Cardinals and the Cincinnati Bengals, because both can score on anybody but will also be scored on by anybody.

  9. Well to be fair to Brees, the Colts - per their defensive scheme - played with two safeties deep just about all of the game. So while it's nice to say that Brees just should have gone deep, that's easier said than done (as the two interceptions in the second half clearly demonstrate).

I'm a Brees owner and am not worried at all. He's a Top 5 QB in the league, his schedule is very favorable (take a look for yourself), and it's a league which awards a point per completion and deducts a point per incompletion.

  10. I'm debating whether I should start Driver or Kevin Curtis, both playing in this game.

The Packers have a very underrated front seven and the best starting trio of LBs in the league imo, which means the Eagles' passing game will come into effect. Harris and Woodson were one of the best CB duos last year, but I think Curtis is a fantastic fit for this offense and can see a very good number of passes coming his way this game - especially attacking the underneath.

Driver could be hobbled by his foot injury, but could rack up some great garbage time stats (this is a PPR league) like he did against the Bears in last year's season opener - which was a 0-26 loss at home. 11 targets, 7 receptions, and 96 yards in that game for Driver, who remains without question Favre's foremost receiving option this season as well.

I'm leaning towards Curtis right now.

  11. I'm starting Portis this week, as my RB2 to Steven Jackson. I don't anticipate him having a great game rushing yardage-wise against the Dolphins' run defense, but I think he'll catch a good number of passes (PPR) from young QB Jason Campbell and can score a (goalline) TD. Playing at home definitely helps, I very likely wouldn't have started him had the game been in Miami.

My other options are Julius Jones, Lendale White, and Brian Leonard.
