I keep coming back to this thread. Maybe I'm in the mood for sad stories. My wife and I try to tell ourselves our animals were not intended to live longer than us and we take comfort in the fact that the life we gave them was safe and warm and full of love, treats, and friendship. Knowing how horrible people can be to animals at times, we feel good that we were able to give that to another. And once a fair amount of mourning passes for our buddies, we are off to the shelter to get another one and give them that life too. I love animals.

Previous dog to this one. He was struggling, you could just tell. I took him outside on a warm day and we laid on the grass together. Warm sun on him, me petting him etc. I wanna believe he liked that day. He died the next morning. Poor fella.

I've always said if there was something I wish for is our pets being able to tell us where and what hurts.
