Job market is kinda tough---especially late in the year. Glad you were smart enough to save a little for it

COBRA is definitely very expensive. Agree there. However it might still be a good idea to sign up for the crappy coverage, at least to protect you somewhat from a catastrophic event. TDS Ron mentioned car accident or some other event.

I'm asking you..if it isn't 100%, then what is it? Or are you just arguing to argue an have nothing else? -

Everything. The elimination of fossil fuels is the biggest of course. electric vehicles. Dumb. Eliminating gas stoves in homes. eliminating the use of natural gas...etc etc..... -

supermike80 replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I don't deny that the global temperature is rising. Anyone can see that. What I have serious issues with is blaming it entirely on fossil fuel use( or 99% cause Mike Honcho gets his panties in a bunch if I say 100%). And the response to that has been and seems like it always will be ineffective and un-implementable solutions. So that frosts me. That and the fact that you are an intelligent guy, and yet still a lunatic liberal. -
Just got a text from one of my kids teachers. She is having knee surgery Jan 6

In my experience with teachers, it is extremely forbidden to mention the summers off. They get super mad about that -

Because I respect you, even though you're a whack job liberal, I checked out the first two links: 1) wouldn't load. Probably got taken down for being wrong Ha...That's a joke..but it wouldn't load 2) Long article by an ensign about the impact of climate change. No discussion about WHY it is happening, just thoughts on how to combat the effects...which I have said from day one...It isn't about stopping it, it's about how do we adapt to it. My point was that I am not 100% sure it is as much man made as it may be influenced more strongly by other factors. Now...what are those? Well that's a great question and should be at least investigated. But Mike Honcho wants everyone to accept its by humans, and no other discussion needs to be had because anyone that disputes it is just dumb. That's not science to me ETA: read all of them, except the fake one that wont load. And they all say the same thing. -

You keep replying to my posts....so instead of just saying silly little things like "I am not going to debate you" spend the same energy and actually say something. Otherwise, why do you keep replying? Doesn't make sense -

supermike80 replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
So you are sayin, with no other discussion, that it is 100% humans fault. Period end of story. And if anyone disagrees, you take your ball and go home. Fair enough. Tough to debate that one -

Ohhh....So this is the "I have my opinion and since you don't agree, you're dumb" debate tactic. Good one -
Would you vote for a politician that thinks young people are stupid?

Doesn't pretty much everyone think young people are stupid? -

That's a great way to debate. So you win by saying someone that disagrees with you just doesn't understand it. No thought whatsoever to the other side eh? Fine. You have your opinion. I respect it. Sorry you can't discuss it however. -

supermike80 replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Ok so if I understand. Science has been able to determine the earth has gone through cooling and warming periods, so because of that they must be right about everything? Yeah that makes sense -

That's akin to saying if you pee in the ocean, you raise the global water level. It's a simplistic, and frankly, rather dumb thing to use with nothing to back it up. -

In my opinion, there hasn't been a single climate change--change--that actually would work. With the exception of nuclear power...and we all know the argument about that one. Electric Vehicles? Stupid. Especially with no nuclear power Wind/Solar? OK..But ineffective at providing the energy needed. Paper straws? No plastic bags....Well.... There is no chance--whatsoever....that humans will reduce their energy consumption--none. Humans are selfish. A functioning, growing society absolutely positively MUST have energy. Cheap, efficient, and in abundance. There is no other way possible. Now, some climate "scientists" say that this is the point, "we" need to reduce our energy consumption. But as mentioned earlier, they ain't doing it themselves. They are still driving, eating meat, heating their homes....because they want the good things society offers. This is who we are. -

supermike80 replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
See? That's such a simplistic answer it's hard to even reply but I will. What is the level of CO2 the Earth can safely absorb before climate change happens? Are we there yet? How do we know what it is? What is the actual temperature of the Earth supposed to be? We keep hearing about the rise in temps...and? What's the temp supposed to be at? Are we to assume it should stay the same FOREVER? Even with evidence the Earth has gone through climate changes through history? Big problem with the climate change alarmists are simple completely un thought out answers like you just gave me. -

Unfortunately we do live in a society where scientists have increased in their level of "can't be trusted." Why? I don't know. Is it politics? Money? Something else? I can't be sure. But there seems to be an increase in scientists with an agenda rather than being 100% factual. And that sucks because it's hard to tell who is who anymore -

supermike80 replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Well, the problem with the scientific community you blindly follow is they are wrong..a lot. They only know what they know and guess at a lot of the rest. I'm not saying they are absolutely wrong, but just cause they are from the "scientific community" doesn't immediately make them 100% right about everything. We as a society have followed scientists through human history, only to find out later they were wrong. I'm more careful and somewhat skeptical of the scientists out there. -

Meh...Don't care. If she's that great, let her contribute to her home country, that appears to need it more. I would rather an American born had her spot. These little one off stories are funny. Are pro removal of illegals supposed to say "Holy cow!!! Stop deporting now!" because of this? Nope. Keep shipping them out. Sometimes dolphins get caught in the tuna nets.
