It's not always about "sucking it up" and dealing with the colder weather. That cold weather includes snow and other things that cause cancelled games. With MLB now pretty much interleague, it is extremely difficult to reschedule a game say between the Yankees and Dodgers. Not to mention, with Posty mentioning the union, you can't just make players "suck it up" and play in brutally cold conditions that can lead to increased injuries and less days off(which are mandated by the players union by the way) The union will push back on that hard.

The games already start in March. Lots of winter weather teams where that's a factor. The world series ends in November...again..Winter cities. If you wanna stretch the playoffs out even more, gotta give something back. reduce the number of regular season games,
