Not to single you out, because I hear this kind of thing all the time, even after the missed DPI in the NFCCG last year. But here's my problem with "The refs didn't blow it. The team blew it all by themselves": Every game is decided by a million different variables. Particularly in a close game, you can always point to one thing and identify it as the decisive factor. It's like when Congress passes a bill by a single vote; every vote can be called the "deciding vote".

But the reason games like Saints-Rams -- and, to a lesser extent, Lions-Packers -- rankle is because the vast majority of those variables involve the two teams on the field. When an outside variable like the refs play a decisive role, it seems much worse. Sure, I could point to a million things the Saints did wrong in the Championship Game. But the fact remains that if the refs had made the right call, they would have won. Monday's game wasn't nearly as black and white as that game was, but it's the notion of a blatant missed call at a decisive moment late in the game.

I may be a Lions fan, but I'm the furthest thing from an apologist for them. Hell, there's a part of me that expects them to find a way to blow close games like this. Lions gonna Lion. So I have no argument with your list of all the things they did wrong. And I can't even say for sure they would have won with better reffing. But it definitely had an impact on the game

Right... but at some point you're going to need to move past the reffing and examine the nuts and bolts of this game.... And that, unfortunately, for Lions fans is that the Packers completely dominated this game after the beginning.  The Packers back-up running back and weird, raw practice guys like Lazard, Shepard, and some long-haired white Jesus hippie dude from UW-Whitewater were going up and down and up and down and up and down the field on your defense. That should be your concern.

Just imagine what Davante Adams would do. Think about that for a second.

And offensively. after the 70-yard gadget play worked on the Packers back-up safety and another long play worked, the Lions were completely stoned on offense. Zilch. Nada. Johnson : 2 yards a carry. Offense: 10 yards a drive for the last 8 possessions. The Packer defense dominated the game (say that out loud; that's weird to hear😀 as a Packers fan). That also should be your concern.

But your concern is the refs. Not, however, the refs gave Detroit 7 points that they never got. The initial guy that called touchdown was 60 feet away and out of position. Nothing showed that he hit that line. But of course refs are too proud to reverse themselves.

I don't really care about that bad call in the long run. How did the Packers play? They dominated yardage (with practice league receivers, mind you) 466-290. The drove the ball consistently. Detroit was stoned 8 times in a row from the 2nd quarter to the end of the game.

It's unfortunate that last call was made. But after Crosby instead makes as chip-shot 35 yard FG, why is it a guarantee that Detroit would march the field with no timeouts and a minute left to score after they got stoned the previous 8 times? So how bad are you really getting jobbed? Is it worse than Rusty Wilson throwing an INT on the last play of the game and a Seattle player coming over and touching the ball in the defender's hands and the refs calling that a touchdown? I doubt it. Stuff happens, though

If Detroit would have dominated the game and lost because of bad calls, I would be much more pissed as a fan. As it was, they probably never deserved to win. They were dominated for most of the game.

The Packers didn't deserve to win either with all the stupid mistakes they made.

The Packers are overdue for a good ass Fockin from the refs in a big spot. They always seem to get the breaks in big spots.

Yeah... Like the end of the Eagles game where the defender held down both of MVS's arms at the game-winning goalline catch and the ball bounces off his chest (cuz he has no access to his arms) and is intercepted ending the game....

Packers always seem to get the breaks in the big spots :wall::wall::wall::wall:

    2 things.

1 - The team with the best stats doesn't always win the game.

2 - If the situation was flipped,  you would be unpleased right now.

If it was flipped, I would be wondering how my team's offense could be completely shut down for 3 quarters and how I let the other team go up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down the field with practice squad receivers...

I've seen a ToucheCeption. I've seen Jerry Rice fumbling that should have ended a playoff game and it not being called. I've seen Rodgers pulled down by his facemask to end another playoff game but it wasn't called.  I've seen far worse reffing than this.

This was a missed call, too. But c'mon. Detroit sucked in this game. They were gifted two turnovers by a practice-league receiver and another by Jones. The couldn't capitalize. Beyond the first quarter and a trick play or two, they were completely dominated.

    3 plays, -8 yards

    4 plays, 2 yards (FG)

    7 plays, 34 yards (FG)

    5 plays, 6 yards,

    4 plays, 8 yards (FG)

    6 plays, 16 yards

There is the 2nd half by the Lions.

Their pts were FGs.  Mostly gifts.  And another a 50 some yard FG.

But the narrative is that the Lions took it to the Packers and the refs were rhe reason the Packers won.

    THIS ^

Meanwhile Packers had drives of 85 yards, 70, 58, 74, 72 .... with practice squad wide receivers and Aaron Jones fumbling and dropping easy touchdown passes 🤣

I sometimes wonder what games people are watching😎

Where is Swampdog when you need him?

    Love that guy! Miss him...

Getting lost in all this mess is the superior job the Pack did on defense... Outside of the first couple of series where Savage's back-up got really confused and gave up two bombs (please come back soon, Savage!), the Pack D completely clamped down and suffocated the Lion O. Carryonmywayward Johnson averaged about 2 yards a rush for the entire game... he had nowhere to run... And after the first few series, the Lions averaged 10 yards a possession for the last 8 possessions... Shut down!  Meanwhile, Rodgers was going up and down the field with some practice-league receivers... What was the final yardage .... like 466 to 290?🤣

What evidence does anybody have that if they don't call that penalty and Cros goes ahead and makes an easy 35 yard FG that Detroit is going to march the field with no timeouts in a minute. Based upon their past 8 previous series where they were completely shut down?😀😀😀

    GTFO🤣

Beiotch about that call, but the Packers dominated that game. Can't wait to run it back. Next time with Savage and our #1 and #2 receivers in tow.  (MVS also got hurt for a good portion of this game)....

  6. Packers hold all the time. This is known.

HAHAHAHAHA.... There's literally 40 stillshots of Cowboy holds that weren't called on Skip Bayless's Twitter page... A couple where the Dallas player is literally undressing the Packer player....

Glad to see you are still    uncontrollably and enjoying your 90s music from the last time the Cowboys were relevant

Enjoy watching figure skating next week :pointstosky:

  7. Should have had 0 TDs and Edleman should have had 3.

edjrLogic™ determines that the pass interference call on Gronk that allowed Edelman to be open for the touchdown shouldn't have been called because Patriots

Actually, Edelman should have had 9 touchdowns but the refs only let the Patriots play 60 minutes :P /edjrLogic

Love Lewis.... great pick-up by me :pointstosky:

  8.

Just kind of glanced through the dumbness of your post, you may want to educate yourself on this one though. This deal is very team friendly if they decide they want to move on.

When you spout this type of garbage it further proves my point that a large group of you, seemingly a majority of GB fans in this particular instance, are horribly ignorant when it comes to the intricacies of the NFL, the 49'ers, and just football in general.

I am actually embarrassed for you guys.

    :dunno:

You didn't evaluate my other points

I think those hit home too hard :(

You signed a sh!tty quarterback to a $126 million contract. How much he has gotten out of the contract and how much he will get is really rats a$$ for me....

Your franchise is screwed either way...

Enjoy your VHS tapes and watching the good football teams with the good quarterbacks play the rest of the way

ETA: and you didn't glance through my post... you read every word :pointstosky:

  9.

Always love to hear Packer fans take on Kap, especially considering what he has done to their team.

    3-1 vs GB with averages of 265-PaY 90-RuY & 2-TD's per game.

I'll take that all day, every day. These are averages....

    HAHAHAHAHA! Glory Days! :music_guitarred:

I guess congrats on unleashing a gimmick on the Packers and the Packers and the rest of the league taking a little bit to figure out the gimmick...

....but they and everybody else did

But here's where we sit today

*Kaepernick 160 total passing yards (including a garbagetime long pass long after being dominated the whole game) 0 TDs, 1 INT, 3 TOTAL OFFENSIVE POINTS in getting embarrassed by the Pack at home

    * Kaepernick now one of the sh!ttiest QBs in the league

    * 49ers stuck paying Kaepernick $128 million to suck it up for now and the future because SF believed in the gimmick that's been exposed by the whole league

*SF got rid of their best QB in the last 2 decades because of the gimmick... He's not that good compared to Packer QBs, but he's the best they've had in ages.

    * Packers currently 6-0, Super Bowl contenders every year and every year in the future... Have best quarterback in the universe

Have fun with Gimmick Guy and 3-13.... Maybe SF can be sh!tty for another decade to draft enough talent which you can completely ruin with a NEW GIMMICK GUY

Enjoy your VHS tapes and glory days!

  10. Packer fans just can't accept reality. A Hof QB for the last 23 years and 2 Super Bowls to show for it. But when you play in a division like the NFC north it's easy to get a superiority complex.

The reality is that the NFL ebbs and flows. When Favre and the Packers were at their best, they had to deal with two extreme powerhouse NFL teams -- Dallas and SF (and you could argue Denver later). Both Dallas and SF completely annihilated the AFC Champions in the Super Bowls. If the Patriots had to go through the Packers, Cowboys, and San Fran every year, they would have never sniffed a Super Bowl berth no less championships.

The Patriots barely barely barely beat 3 crappy teams (all of them has LOSING records the next year)....

Looks like Seattle is following suit this year

Jake DelHomme is not Steve Young.

Congrats to the Pats for being above average during a weak time in the NFL

Rodgers' injuries and dropped onside kicks don't help, but Rodgers still has about 8-10 years left to make his mark.

Let's just wait and see

  11.

Maybe during the regular season, sure.

1 Super Bowl in 7 seasons, 2 league championships in 7 years?

    Not impressed. r

Yeah... Brady won a Super Bowl throwing for 140 yards and a TD... a terrible half for Rodgers. Congrats, I guess.

    Great accomplishment!

All dat guy does is win, guy!

Defenses, coaches, running backs, kickers.... many things win Super Bowls....

Is Steve Kerr the greatest NBA player of all time (5 rings, baby!) Is Luc Longley?

Probably in your book .... but not the rest of us.

How many times do we have to rehash this stupid argument?

    Rodgers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brady

Brady has been a member of better teams.... as has John Paxson :music_guitarred:

  12. roflcopters @ yet another novice troll dude not actually interested in discussing a team he reviles, but trying to pull wings off flies - such is the current misery of the ne'er do well 9er fan. Hey 49er fan: sorry your team is so terrible - but stop trying to troll the fans of a 6-0 team who is beating the teams put in front of them.

That's what's for real, whether you're "convinced" or not.

Haha... you can only watch so many 49er VHS tapes from the '80s before you get bored enough to troll other teams

Just wish the trollin' was better

  13. They've been playing most of the season without their #1, #3, #4 receivers, without their best o-lineman, and with their #1 RB on a bad wheel and clearly not what he once was. Tremendous injuries on defense, too. Burnett, Barrington, Raji, Perry, etc.

Give them all a chance to heal up over the bye and they will be better....

That and the fact that Packers traditionally start slow and pick it up as the season goes along.

Sucks to be 6-0 at this point, but what can you do?

  14. Kind of a dumb post considering the 9'ers were the team most recently in a SuperBowl. Little advice, make it, then talk smack.

There's a reason Rodgers and Kaep have appeared in exactly the same amount of SB's.

You made it to a Super Bowl? Congrats! Did you win?

Unfortunately, you made it there on a gimmick... The gimmick's been exposed... You paid him $126 mil., he sucks so bad, and you're stuck with him

In the meantime, enjoy 3-13, enjoy watching Packer greatness, and enjoy watching 49er VHS tapes from the 80s! :music_guitarred:

Grandpa? Tell us another story about Joe Montana. please!
