Seems that white people are treated differently by Summit public schools in California . “You get presented with, on equal merits, like a white person or a black person or whatever. Yeah, we're going with the black person,” revealed Jonathan Ferrer, Director of Human Resources for Summit Public Schools, a charter network operating in California and Washington, to an OMG hidden camera, admitting to employment practices that violate federal and state anti-discrimination laws. During the hidden camera investigation, Ferrer acknowledged that hiring decisions are often made based on race. He explained further that hiring is evaluated in terms of the school’s perceived cultural needs, adding, “Who do we feel is best for kids right now in the context of that school site or that classroom? So if it’s a person of color, great. If it’s a trans teacher, great.” Ferrer also discussed how the district’s DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) priorities impact candidate selection. When asked if there are certain quotas they try to meet, he explained, “Obviously we have a lot of kids that identify as LGBTQ, maybe even trans. So we have one trans teacher in our district… and so I think it’s just culturally, we just naturally look for those folks.” Ferrer also admitted that political ideology plays a role in who is and isn’t hired. When asked if Summit Public Schools would ever hire someone who supports Donald Trump, Ferrer bluntly replied, “I don’t think we would hire them.” He elaborated that the school uses DEI-based interview questions to filter out candidates who do not align with the district’s values. “We do have DEI questions built into our selection process,” Ferrer said. “We have a rubric… if they say any of these things, this is not someone who's answering the question the way we’re aligned to answer the question.” He provided an example of the kind of response that would disqualify a candidate, saying, “If the candidate or teacher is like, ‘Well, I want to make sure that [students] learn about conservative values,’ blah, blah, blah… that’s probably not what we are looking for.” -
https://twitter.com/thomascatenacci/status/1912850130341933058?s=46&t=6lIrLFMCF1K0N7A7JwF7fg NEW: Bernie Sanders has been railing against wealth disparity and “oligarchs” during his ongoing speaking tour. But campaign filings show one of the tour’s largest expenses is private jet travel. Bernie’s campaign dropped $221K on private jets over the course of just one month. The revelation is just the latest contrast between his socialist rhetoric and his millionaire lifestyle. The Vermont senator used to rail against "millionaires and billionaires" in his speeches denouncing oligarchy—until he became a millionaire himself shortly before his 2020 presidential campaign, at which point he trained his fire on "billionaires."

GPs are super sweet dogs but are barkers. Gentle giants. We had a neighbor with one behind us when we lived in Mass. We have a 85 pound lab and was dwarfed by the GP

From Cenk Uygur If @nytimes is right and Trump refused Israel's request to attack Iran, he deserves a ton of credit for that. Times reporting @TulsiGabbard made the argument against the strike - huge credit for that. @JDVance also spoke against. Not a lot of good news lately, but this is great. -

I’m done here. Nothing numbers wise has been posted in good faith from ChatGPT The average annual cost to house a prisoner in the United States varies significantly depending on the state, security level, and specific facility factors. National Averages Most estimates place the average annual cost per inmate between $30,000 and $60,000. For instance, a 2022 report from the Vera Institute of Justice found the average cost per inmate was $36,299 per year across all 50 states. State-by-State Variations Costs can differ widely among states: California: Approximately $132,860 per inmate annually, driven by high employee compensation and healthcare costs. New York: Around $106,089 per inmate per year. Florida: Approximately $54,522 per inmate annually. Texas: About $22,012 per inmate per year. Louisiana: Roughly $16,807 per inmate annually. Factors Influencing Costs Several elements contribute to these cost disparities: Staffing: Salaries and benefits for correctional officers and administrative staff often constitute the largest portion of expenses. Healthcare: Inmate medical and mental health services can significantly impact costs, especially with aging prison populations. Facility Operations: Maintenance, utilities, and infrastructure upgrades add to the overall expenditure. Security Level: Higher-security facilities require more resources, increasing per-inmate costs. Rehabilitation Programs: States investing in education, vocational training, and therapy may have higher upfront costs but potential long-term savings through reduced recidivism. Federal Prisons In the federal system, the average cost to house a prisoner is approximately $36,000 per year. Understanding these costs is crucial for policymakers aiming to balance fiscal responsibility with effective correctional strategies. -
