    Menage O Three Discussion

If we are talking fantasy football, it's probably Warner/Faulk/Bruce (or Holt?) or Manning/Edge/Harrison. But real life, nobody beats Aikman/Irvin/Emmitt. I know some will disagree, but I grew up as a little kid watching the Cowboys since my Dad was a diehard fan...They had a stretch in the early 90's that will be hard to duplicate. Obviously the 3 Superbowls were impressive, but how each performed in them was equally impressive: -Aikman: 56-80 (70%) 689 yards (8.6ypa) 5 TD's, 1 INT ~109 QB Rating -Emmitt: 70 carries 289 yards (4.1 ypc) 5 TD's 11 catches/56 yards -Irvin: 16 catches 256 yards 2 TD's Throw in Jay Novachek: 17 catches 148 yards 2 TD's. They won 3 SuperBowls in 4 years by a combined score of 109-47 They were fun to watch.

Ever had too many good players?

Drafted: Cruz Harvin Decker Wayne T. Smith

    Run DMC

Based on your team in your sig, I would really consider doing that trade if you have decent RB depth. Graham is a stud, and is much safer than McFadden because of DMC's injury history. EDIT: Just noticed your bench - looks like you don't have RB depth. But I'd see what you could get for B. Marshall (Lynch?) or G. Jennings (R. Bush? D. Martin?) and then flip DMC for Graham.
  4. QB's: Drew Brees - One of the best in the game, and will hafta put up 30+ points every week with that defense. Colston is getting healthy, and Graham will get going. Plus he's already on pace for 5,400/40. RGIII - Looks like a better version of last year's Cam Newton, most likely surrounded with a good team since he was a mid-rounder. Matt Ryan - Looks to be a top5 QB that was drafted in the 4th-6th rounds. It's scary to think that Julio has yet to get going since week 1. Ryan is probably the early-season MVP favorite. RB's: Arian Foster - Could get 400 rushes in an era that 300 is nearly impossible. Assuming healthy, a lock for 1,600 total yards and 15+ TD's. Ray Rice - See above, minus ~10%. Jamaal Charles - Probably won't keep putting up 20-30 points every week, but should be a top5 RB for someone drafted outside of the top10. WR's are harder to pick out since its such a deep position, but here are a few guys I like to be valuable in the fantasy community: Victor Cruz - Not taken until the 3rd or 4th round, but he may be a bigger, faster Wes Welker. 120/1500/10 aren't out of the question (on pace for 128/1552/8). A.J. Green - I stayed away from him in drafts mostly because I thought Dalton sucked. Dalton is locked in on Green, and he should be a top5 WR this year, with massive potential. Reggie Wayne - Won't finish as high as these other guys, but he could lead the league in targets (and be top5 in catches), and he was drafted as a WR 3/4. End-of-the-Year Breakout Candidates: (QB) Andrew Luck - already putting up solid fantasy #'s, but should only get better. He could be a better start than some vets the rest of the way (Rivers, Stafford, Romo). (RB) Ronnie Hillman/Kendall Hunter - Both backs are young, talented, and are stuck behind old but reliable veterans. It's tough to predict injury, but McGahee/Gore have been known to break down. If either of these guys become the starter, they could be top10 RB's during the final 4-6 weeks of the season. (WR) James Jones - Greg Jennings has a lingering injury and, from all reports, is probably in his final season with GB. The Packers will get an early look at his replacement, and he's got 3 TD's in 4 games already.

    Peyton

Well, so far in fantasy he's been better than Joe Flacco. Better than his brother Eli. Better than Aaron Rodgers. Better than Michael Vick and Matthew Stafford. Actually, despite playing his first 4 games in almost 2 years, and facing one of the tougher schedules in the league, he's the #7 overall QB in the league. Not a bad spot to be in after going in the 4th-7th rounds.

    Peyton

I don't get the Kyle Orton references. As for Peyton, he just played his first 4 games in 20+ months. He just played his first 4 games with a new coaching staff, new receivers, etc. He's played some stiff competition, including the #1 defense in the league. He has a much more friendly schedule for the rest of the season: New England, New Orleans, Kansas City twice, Carolina, and Oakland again. And, admittedly, he's still knocking off some rust. And he's on pace for 4,600 yards, 32 Touchdowns and 12 INT's. Yet you still have no faith in the guy. It's Peyton Manning. What makes you think it's only going to get worse, when nearly everyone has suggested that he should get better as the season progresses.

    Waiver WR rankings

What's the short term (next few weeks) and long term (next few years) outlook on James Jones?? Greg Jennings re-aggravated his hamstring again, and I wouldn't be completely shocked if he misses the next 2-4 games. Nelson is definitely Rodgers' first option, probably followed by Finley, but Green Bay's passing offense can definitely support 3-4 options. Jones put up one stinker and 3 solid games: 4/81/1 4/55 5/56/2 Also, with Jennings in the final year of his contract, and plenty of rumors that it'll be his last year in Green Bay, could the Packers be looking at Jones as Jennings' replacement? Not to get too specific, but my league allows us to keep 1 FA pickup throughout the season, so holding onto a starting WR in Green Bay's offense could pay huge dividends next year. I know Jones has been inconsistent over the years, but has he finally straightened everything out?

Who else broke their leagues scoring record?

In my 10-team, 2-QB, Keeper league, I put up 202 in week 2 (4th highest mark ever). This week I just put up 215.5 (highest ever): Drew Brees Peyton Manning Arian Foster Marshawn Lynch Victor Cruz Percy Harvin Eric Decker Torry Smith Rob Gronkowski Akers Houston DEF

Sure, you would have still had s Seahawks fans bitching about the call, but u get that from every fan base. You implied that the vast majority if complainers would be complaining either way. And that's just simply not true. Granted, I'm only 25, but this is by far the most blatantly wrong call in the NFL that I've ever seen. Like I said, this isn't packer fans bitching about a questionable call. This was about the entire country turning the NFL into a laughing stock because of embarrassingly bad officials that the owners trotted onto the football field.

The call on the field was terrible. 99% of the population knows it. This isn't a case of a biased fanbase trying to excuse a loss. This is about NFL fans being fed up with sub-par refs who are really over their head. People with no interest or stake in that game are in uproar with the result. This made national headlines. Not sports headlines. News headlines. The old refs aren't perfect, but nobody is in their professio n. QBs throw bad passes, WRs drop passes. Coaches call bad plays. Accountants screw up their numbers. Etc. Etc. Hopefully this gives everybody an appreciation for the regular refs. They may not be perfect, but they are infinitely better than their replacements...

    FF with the replacement refs

Not by much, and not directly. I don't think the replacement refs allowed a noticeably different amount of contact by the defense. But I do think they interrupted the play/pace of the game, which can prevent offenses from getting into rhythms. Taking a few extra seconds to spot a ball, determine a call, or line up properly is enough to allow a defense to substitute and keep up with an offense. It's slowed down some of the no-huddle attacks we've been accustomed to (Manning & the Broncos, Rodgers & the Packers come to mind). I don't think the difference was huge, I'm not suggesting that Manning & Rodgers would be putting up MVP numbers with the old refs, but that's the only difference that I've noticed having an effect on fantasy football #'s. That is of course unless someone actually played Golden Tate last week

    Theyyyrrrreee baccccckk!

Have you watched a single game yet this season? It's not necessarily about the number of calls refs make or don't make. They awarded the 49ers an extra timeout, which lead to TWO extra challenges. They marked off a 5 yard penalty as an 11 yard penalty. They marched off a 10 yard penalty as a 17 yard penalty. They literally cost the Packers a win, and even that took them 20 minutes to figure out. They've called teams by the wrong name. They've called teams "red team". They've pointed in wrong directions, assigned wrong jersey #'s to players that don't even exist. They've thrown a flag for PI (meaning they saw PI), then said there was no foul. They missed TWO block in the back penalties (one of which they even threw a flag for, but didn't enforce) on the same punt return for a TD. They awarded a fumble recovery to a team that didn't appear to fall on the ball, didn't exit the scrum with the football, and no camera angle ever showed them having possession. We had a quarter last over an hour. We've had games get extremely chippy/physical/dirty/chaotic because the refs have no respect or control of the game. The list goes on and on. And it's only been 3 weeks. Get outta here with the "the old refs are just as bad" bullsh!t.

I've never seen a player laying on his back with his left arm stretch out to the left (over another player) and have possession of the ball. It's pretty clear Tate was grasping at that point. Don't know where the picture is, maybe someone can post it?

Two things that I have an issue with: I don't think the "dual possession" rule refers to 2 players establishing the play as a catch (possession, 2 feet down, football move, etc.). It's my belief that they are addressing who controls the ball - as in with their hands, arms, chest, etc. Anyone who thinks Tate has possession of that ball (in the latter sense) before Jennings does is delusional. And I really question if Tate would have maintained possession without the help of Jennings. If someone has the ball in their chest/arms, and I place my finger on the ball, that better not be considered possession. At one point, Jennings has clear possession of the ball in his chest/arms, and Tate (laying on his back) has his left arm reached into Jennings, and his right arm flailing away. There's no way that can be considered possession.
  18. Didn't see one going, figured I'd get it started. I need Marshawn Lynch to score 15.5 points for my teams to improve to 8-1 on the season. Let's go Beast Mode

You do realize that Hakeem Nicks is returning from a stress fracture in his foot, and just missed a game without any apparent "setbacks".

    Late QB Strategy

Why would you use 3 games as a sample size to jump to a conclusion that you'll "never go QB again" early. Last year, Vick/Rodgers/Brady/Brees/Rivers/Romo/Manning/Ryan/Roethlisberger/Stafford/Schaub/Manning were the top 12 QB's off the board in most fantasy football drafts. With the exception of injuries (Vick, Peyton, Schaub), all off those QB's performed very well. The popular mid-round QB's were guys like Sam Bradford, Josh Freeman, Kevin Kolb, and Joe Flacco. The longer you waited on a QB last year, your QB production suffered. Sure, this season has seen some mid-late round QB's out produce the top tier guys. But you still hafta pick which one. To many, Romo and Ryan were a toss-up this year. Flacco looks like he's finally a legit QB after 3 seasons of off-season hype. Luck & RG3 are obviously the real deal. But people were also high on Cutler, and he's sh!t the bed. Oh, and we aren't even out of week 3 yet.

    It was sunday 12:45 pm...

It was reported before kickoff that Torrey Smith would be playing against the Patriots. As much as I know, Greg Jennings is still very questionable. Not sure why you didn't put Smith in for Jennings...

    J Charles

Don't know why you keep pointing to Charles' playing time as something that proves your point. We weren't arguing playing time. We were arguing the talent & effectiveness of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones. You insisted Jones was the better back, and questioned whether or not Charles would ever become a featured RB. Thanks for playing. I'm doing fine, thank you. Finished 2nd in my league last year, despite drafting Charles & Peyton - and that 2nd place finished ended my 3-year winning streak. And if Marshawn Lynch puts up 15.5 points tonight, I'll be 8-1 combined in my 3 leagues (first year in the other 2 leagues). Just like Charles, I seem to be doing just fine, and have been for quite a while Save yourself whatever spin off you're going to respond with to try and twist your words to make is sound like you weren't completely focking wrong about this, I'm done hearing your ego get in the way with reality

    Peyton

Really? Yeah, he hasn't quite looked like vintage, 2006 mid-season Peyton Manning. But after sitting out a full year, changing teams, and admittedly not quite 100% healthy yet, the dude is on pace for 4,100 yards and 27 TD's. And he's played 3 great teams, including 2 top defenses. Did I mention these were his first 3 games of football in 20 months? As for yesterday's performance - he got off to a slow start for the 2nd straight game. His offensive line got manhandled. His WR's dropped at least 5 passes. He was facing the #1 overall defense. And he threw for 330 yards and 2 TD's.
