  1. Looks pretty decent to me,

Colston, Cotchery and Hightower are all young bucks. I would personally rather have Brees than Schaub, at least this season. Smith is out the first couple, who knows how long 85 will last, I could even see Maroney losing a chunk of carries to Lamont Jordan(Bellichek said he liked how he was running, and he did post some decent numbers in that one preseason game). You've got Westbrook and Turner as 1 and 2 anyways. If Edge goes down you've got another starter this year, and he won't last forever down there, espeically if he struggles this year. I would take this in a heartbeat, as long as you can live with yourself if Schaub turns out to be the next big thing @ QB.

  2. Rudi Johnson signs with Lions

    by Tom Kowalski

    Monday September 01, 2008, 5:40 PM

According to a source close to the situation, free agent running back Rudi Johnson has signed a contract with the Lions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Johnson, who rushed for 1,000 yards in three straight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals (2004-06), is expected to replace Tatum Bell as the No. 2 running back behind starter Kevin Smith. The Lions, however, have yet to announce any roster moves. The addition of the eight-year veteran might mean the Lions will use more of a platoon system at running back.

After practice on Monday, Lions head coach Rod Marinelli said, "I just had a chance to watch him in some drills (during a workout) and he's impressive. He's a big, thick guy who has great feet. I played against him over the years so I know he's a very physical back. He's a guy with a lot of talent and a lot of experience.''

This is not official as of yet because it's a "source close to the situation". Tom "killer" Kowalski has been known to float out some garbage from time to time however I tend to believe this one because I saw Marinelli being interviewed and he was just glowing about him. I think it's a no lose situation for the Lions. It adds depth, and the promise of a 1-2 punch of varying RB styles.

Thanks for keeping us up to date!

  3. You guys don’t stand a chance. I totally killed it in my draft Friday night… check out this monster squad I drafted in my 10 team PPR.

After locking up 2 stud RBs, I couldn’t believe The Sasser was still on the board so I took the #1 TE and laughed at my league mates out loud. Then I solidified my WR corp with some good value picks in the 4th and 5th. I was a little nervous to wait so long for a QB, but as you can see it turned out to be a good decision. I was able to snag 2 borderline top 10 guys and play the match ups. I’m already counting my money…

    1) Trung Canidate RB

    2) Amos Zereoue RB

    3) Jim Kleinsasser TE

    4) Tai Streets WR

    5) Curtis Conway WR

    6) Danny Wuerrffel QB

    7) Rick Mirer QB

    8) James Thrash WR

    9) Tim Biakabatuka RB

    10) Brock Lesnar IDP

    11) Chris Gardocki K

    12) Lamar Gordon RB

    13) Keary Colbert WR

    14) Bennie Blades IDP

    15) Boo Williams TE

    16) Corky Life Goes On WR (sleeper alert)

    17) James Mungro RB

    18) Jesse Armstead IDP

    19) Jim Druckenmiller QB

    20) Merton Hanks IDP

PS – please don’t think I draft with a bunch of tards… the other guys really know their stuff, but I’m just that good

Amazing. I just hope Corky doesn't pull a Steve Smith on Brock and get suspended. Other than that you should be ok.

  4. How does it look? Where to improve? Who becomes expendable?

    14. TE Jason Witten DAL 8 NA

    15. D Buffalo Bills BUF 6 NA

    16. K Kris Brown HOU 10 NA

A few people in the draft took defenses and kickers in the middle and we had a QB run early so i got really stacked @ WR (i think). 10 teams. Not PPR. 1qb, 2 rb, 2wr, 1 te, 1 flex rb/te/wr, 1 DST, 1 K.

My RBs have a tough first week, and I'd like to package up D.Jackson with someone after the first couple weeks (if he does well) to get a better D or QB.

    Thoughts?

  5. I took him in the 14th (not keeper). I figure he will get his looks against the Rams in week one (even if hes not starting #1 or #2). The Cowboys will put up some big numbers so the Eagles will have to keep up with some passing. It's also a Monday nighter. If he puts up decent numbers the first two weeks (especially with everyone getting to see it on Monday night) I will package him up with someone else before he has to play the Bears and Steelers. IF not I can cut him for someone else. The first two weeks I'm rolling with my big guns and hoping there's no eggs laid, so if he decides to put up some nice numbers...great, dish time.

  6. I've won many leagues never taking a TE above Round 6. There is more value at the RB/WR positions during the middle rounds. An astute owner has the ability to find TE's "at the bottom of the barrel" and I always find them. This year it will be Zach Miller. Watch and see.

I watched the third preseaon game Raiders had, and I have to agree, Miller looked very good. Russell wasn't overly accurate but Miller was catching everything that came his way. With Walker becoming a question mark... could be some nice numbers. ROsario on the Panthers looked like he had a serious burst for a TE, but I don't know that he'll be in on too many sets with all the receiver additions they have in Carolina.

I had McMicheal to start last year and it was brutal. I ended up rotating until I got ahold of Heath Miller and he helped get me into the title game (he had some nice weeks towards the end of the season). This year I went with Witten because I got tired of looking at his stat lines compared to what my TEs put up for most of the year. No doubt it possible to get some great value, especially this year, I just got kicked in the pants when i tried it last year. SO this year, I went for Witten. Hopefully he can keep it up.

  7. 1. Moss puts up another 20+ Tds, leads the league in TDs

    2. Schaub top 5 Qb

    3. Grant top 5 rb

    4. R. Rice starts and doesn't look back

    5. Stewart is a beast and wins ROY

    6. C. Johnson is the Reggie Bush everyone expected, but much more

    7. LT doesn't finish the season

    8. LJ continues to struggle

    9. Ricky has a great season in Miami

    10. M Barber leads the league in rushing Tds

    11. Brady wins back to back MVP awards

    12. R Meachem makes his arrival known in the NFL

    13. C. Perry pushes R Johnson to the curb

    14. Chad Johnson is a BUST

    15. Roy Williams is a BUST

    #13

I like the chances of 4 and 7 as well, nice calls

  8. Chambers or Vincent Jackson if Gates is out.

Someone said Eddie Royal, thats a good call.

Desean Jackson. I don't care if he's been pegged slot, he's too fast not to get some deep routes. And Reggie Brown (along with Kevin Curtis) was still hurt last I saw. But maybe Andy Reid is going to peer pressure him into starting like his kids @ hawaiin hotbox.

Ray Rice. Cincy's D still sucks right?

  9. Tomlinson- He's been injured, he's getting older(ish). He also has the highest expectations of any other player, since he is usually first overall. Merriman's injury that he intends to play through could cost the defense later on, Gates still isn't 100% and PHILLIP and LT2 love yelling @ each other. Also, he wouldn't take his helmet off last year while he was crying on the sidelines which was silly. I mean, he didn't wear it in the press conference when he was crying, why'd he keep it on the field?

  10. In my sig - Forte, Chris Johnson, Rice and Stewart.

This is our sixth year, and we average 6 QBs in the 1st 3 rounds every year. We changed the scoring after year 2 from 6 points to 4 but all of them still think QBs rock.

They're all straight line thinkers so as soon as they get their starters filled out they start taking DTs and Ks in the 9th/10th, while I'm robbing quality backups left and right. SSDD, every year it's the same, I can predict 90% of their picks (same guy has drafted Galloway 4 years in a row as his WR3).

Totally spaced on getting any decent backup WRs, so I'm hoping one of the kids blows up soon.

Draft yesterday I saw the same thing. QBs went early and kickers and defenses in middle/late rounds. We had changed our QB points from 6 to 4 as well, and I made sure to point it out like 5 times, but everyone wanted a QB once they started coming off the board. The kicker thing freaking floored me though
