  2. Great point. I do like the Alf Morris pick and Wilkens late. Both of those guys very likely will be week one starters. WW must be completely useless with the number of roster spots you have. Gives you potential to trade the RB depth for an upgraded WR situation.

Yeah immediate thought was "Morris has a big week 1 then trade for receiver"

  3. I was thinking Jimmy, Mahomes, Goff or Trubs. I like them all this year for their draft position. There are so many damn qbs this year.

Also funny you mention this, I was offered Rivers for a 2nd rounder in my dynasty recently. My qbs are Trubisky and Goff. I like my qbs enough this year.

I picked up Rivers during our dynasty draft. I had 1st overall, two twos and two threes. Brees, Jameis at QB. Took Rosen in 2nd and snatched Rivers when he was offered for my final third as insurance. Stream city.

  4. It is not surprising. But seems like some of you dont realize he is signed to a 1 year deal.

Then we have frozen telling us maybe they could trade Darnold if Teddy is good. Oh for what? They just focking spent the 3rd overall pick on him. After trading UP to get there. It would be a huge net loss.

People think this is a video game I swear.

You're going to be disappointed when egg head Darnold poops all over your MVP predictions. Historically the top of the first round of the NFL draft is not where top fantasy QBs are found. GL to you with your throbbing love for all those taken.

BTW Bridgewater's numbers were with a dumpster fire for an o line. It's a minor miracle he was able to post those results.

Keep up with the video game analogies tho, they are super neat.

P.S. Rosen will be the best QB from this class. Book it in your video game log.

  5. Before Bridgewater lost a knee his numbers were about the worst in the league. He hasnt showed anything dynamic what so ever.

But here we are. Has a good preseason and all the people who never learn that preseason is garbage are here telling us how good he is.

You know who else had a great preseaon? Nathan Peterman. The guy that threw 5 picks in a half starting over Tyrod and became the laughing stock of the NFL.

Darnold is a lot closer to throwing 5 picks in a game than becoming an mvp. Just because they took him high doesn't mean he's any good. See Leaf, Ryan. And to put faith in the fact the Jets organization likes him is like saying, "Hey that dog is licking its own butt, must mean it tastes good"

  6. Darnold has looked pedestrian at best vs 2nd stringers this far. Bridgewater is light years ahead of him. Good job by the saints if the negotiate in extension in next few days. Good job by jets to get a third for basically nothing but stupid to trade away their best QB. Darnold and Allen in the same division just as Brady is in his twilight. It's like handing the pats another half decade...

  7. Why would he regress?? Do awesome players regress? They don't, that's why they are good in the first place. Do you people really watch what Tyreek does and not see the incredible talent? Talent that no one else in this league displays quite like him? I don't get why people aren't getting more excited that the 2nd year QB seems to only have eyes for Tyreek, and he can actually take advantage of his ridiculous speed. Hill had a very good season last year and scored all his TDs from 40 yards out or more, right? He did most of that getting the ball underneath and then getting past the defense after he had the ball in his hands. He is still going to get that underneath work, but now the defense will have to be much more honest about covering him deep. To me, this looks like a match that could lead to something special. I know some of us are excited about him.

This. I just traded Julio for him in dynasty. His speed, his ability to go get the ball, his vision, if he gets route running down he's going to be a faster AB. He literally does everything and he does it in fast forward. This guy is undervalued IMO, severely by some people.

  8. I'm back again to give you guys insight into my beloved Dolphins.Take a look at my contributions to the Mike Gesicki thread if you're looking for a sleeper TE this year.

The number 1 issue with Drake? The Gase effect.

He simply doesn't like to use a bell-cow. Sure you'll remember when Jay Ajayi was getting 200 yard games... but Arian Foster retired and Gase was FORCED to dumb down his offense for Ajayi/Landry (notice neither is on our team anymore.)

He didn't want to do that.

So what can we expect this year when Gase finally runs HIS offense for the first time?

Take a look at the 2014 Denver Broncos:

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/den/2014.htm#all_rushing_and_receiving">https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/den/2014.htm#all_rushing_and_receiving

*Note - C.J. wasn't even the starter in a featured role until week 12 and he finished with those stats.

This is the thing. Every year the goal for Gase is to copy his Broncos of 2013 (when they broke all kinds of records.) Then at some point he switches to run-first-mode because its not going how he wants. When he does use of a bell-cow and go run first his RB's absolutely KILL IT...but the sad thing is...he never does this over a full season. So while Drake killed last year just like C.J. did in 2014, and just like Ajayi did in 2016....that isn't what Gase wants to do by default. So for us fantasy football fans...we never get the ELITE potential out of our players.

My concern is that were back to HURRY UP mode this year. Its been made a big deal in the off-season. That tells me he is back to trying to copy 2013 again. That's why we got rid of stupid players and now have highly intelligent players. I expect Ryan Tannehill to have a career year and for our offense to be immensely better...but will Drake be featured or not?

I expect not (as much as I'd like to see it happen) ...I expect Gore to take short yardage situations and very short goalline carries. I do expect Ballage to catch some passes later in the season but nothing significant.

So for Drake...expect 200 carries, 700-800 yards rushing, 400-500 yards receiving, and 6-10 total TDs. If you're comfortable with those numbers for a RB2 then by all means - take him there. Drake has a very, very high ceiling...but his floor brings his projection to what I anticipate above.

    Last word:

People talk about Gore and Ballage as legitimate threats to Drake. They also doubt his durability. All of that is rubbish. The bottomline is that it comes down to how Gase runs his offense. If you look at C.J.s #'s in 2014 and expand it over a 16 week season...you're talking the #1 RB in the NFL. Same thing with Ajayi in 2016. Same thing with Drake in 2017. The problem is that Gase doesn't want to give a RB 350 carries and all the catches - period.

Target Drake as your #2 only if you have a top5 #1. Otherwise target him as a RB3.

Fantastic post man, thank you for this insight.

  9. Hey y'all

Jordan Lasley is on the wire in a deepish dynasty and I'm torn on trying to make room for him. Anyone seen him live? Watched his usage in the preseason? I feel like the opportunity and skillset are there. Curious about if he's playing with both flacco AND Lamar (don't really care about rg3)

Thanks in advance if anyone is in the know.

  10. Kirk and Pettis will not be available for any price by midseason next year. I'd grab one of them in the 2nd round. If you're gonna miss out on Barkley I think Kerryon is gonna be special. Since none of the highly touted rookie RBs have cemented much yet I'd trade back for multiple picks late 1st early 2nd if possible (or flip draft pick, go fishing for Golladay or someone like that who's a sophomore in line to be WR1 by next year who will still ha e a strong season this year. Again, Golladay won't be available by end of this year, he's a last chance targets Rn in dynasty IMO.

  11. Doug you are an absolute gem and the Big Board is the best thing I read every year, even tho I haven't used it in practice for a while because DYNASTY. Thanks for providing all the writing along with it, your articles are thoughtful and fun to read.

P.S. Jamaal Williams is the back to own in Gb tho and Cain will challenge barkley for ROY. #BiasedPredictions

  12. I read somewhere that the CLE Org blamed Baylor for him not understanding the WR position. Maybe take a look in the mirror. You get multiple chances to meet and interview these kids. Art Briles is a piece of human and all, but no one forced you to take him at 16. You guys have one win in two years... How is anyone succeeding in that environment?

The spite cold Buffalo thing is pretty funny tho.
