Zap 0 Posted August 13, 2005 Man, this place is almost eerily silent. Maybe you're all boning up for this draft? Maybe you all have a life? My concern for 420 and his health issues has me seeking a possible standby, maybe a draft only replacement, maybe a full replacement. If he cannot make it, my nephew, a fellow IDP commish, has offerred to draft his team. I wanted to give you all a head's up on this since not only is he related, but also drafts 1st while I draft 2nd. I can only promise not a hint of collusion, but if any have misgivings in the least, I will can the idea. I don't really like it myself, because he'd be here in my house yelling "who should I take?" early and late in the draft. He's very sharp, but I've done this with him before (as he loads up on Yahoo leagues for practice), and he's an advice seeker. I could make him pick from across town or in my office though. One solution would be to trade 420s #1 slot to someone who wants it from the 7-12 spots. At least that way, his picks would be distanced from mine. Best of all another geek steps up for 420. So... Anybody want to pick first overall? This is a feeler, not an offer. Or. Anybody want to go second, and I'll take first? Man, I wish he'd pop his head in here and assure me he'll be around. This is my favorite internet league-- by a landslide. I love redrafts, I love IDPs, I love this league. The reason GOID fell in priority last week was only because all the other leagues were so active. One is done drafting, one is still drafting, but this is my #1 priority from now to draft day. I manage this team seriously, give it my best shot. Along with my local league, this one gets my most heartfelt projections, opinions, and attention. Diesel07 0 Posted August 14, 2005 Ohhh ok, i misunderstood you. Ya, this league gets probably most of my attention...awell im only in 2 this year, not counting the yahoo ones i do for practice. I was in one with Clash adn buncha other FFToday geeks, but havent seen any of them. I have to do some homework before the draft. Ive done so much in the offseason, i have a good feel for everything, but i just need to look overa few more things before our draft. Year 1 was awesome!! I hope the new members bring some enthusiasm and excitement to GOID, because last year it was lacking, but it was still fun nonetheless. Can you post the league scoring format again? Last year zman roooned this league by being a caustic jerk. This is a good format, and the competition I know, is very good. I'm pretty sure the noobs will be sharp as well. I was reading old posts from the last two years, and he really was the problem last year. Please tell me you are java capable this year. With so few responses, I may just can the vote and go with what's easiest for me-- the fanball room. Even the chat I'm considering is a java applet. Man, you got worked in the draft last year, but you have to get that pooter up to speed. No offense, but we're not enduring another 5 hour draft with five + minute waits. No way. I did a 25 round mock with a two minute timer, 12 drafters ready to roll-- 2 hours 16 minutes. We start at 9pm EST, and I am determined to have the east coasters in bed by midnight. Sonm is drafting in the late morning and will need to go to work that day. I will force picks from FFToday's projections, and I will do it first at 3 and a half minutes (rounds 1-3), next at 3 minutes (rounds 4-8), then it will be a straight two minute timer. Diesel07 0 Posted August 15, 2005 i think that homo xman was our problem. the hurricane really screwed me up, but it looks like there arent any comping my way, so i should be good to go. im going to try to figure out this java thing. maybe i can d/l it somewhere, i dont know. i was surprised with some of the pics last year. i didnt expect ppl to be THAT up to par.
