Help with the compiler and draft buddy.

Recommended Posts

I could use a little help with the compiler and draft buddy. This is my first time using them and I believe that I have entered all the info correctly but, when I look at the projection and see WR in the first round knowing that RBs and QBs tend to go first. I am pretty sure i did something wrong. If someone is willing I could use some help setting this up. Basically i would like to send my league's scoring to someone and see if they get the same output.

Mars, sorry I didn't get a chance to respond to your email earlier. I was just running through all my emails and the forum. To truly answer this question, we need to know your starters and backups by position, and number of teams in your league too. My guess is WR are probably more valuable than your league is giving them credit for. I mean, if you start the same or more WR than RB, isn't a Randy Moss with 13-14 TD and 1,400 yards better than the 12th-14th ranked RB with 1,200 yards and 8 TD?

He needs to know what starting lineup your league uses.

And how many bench players you have as well

Example:

1 QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR's, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K

Hi Mars. I finally was able to input your settings in the Compiler. I came up with a pretty similar list. I probably have the backups slightly different than you, and I didn't input the complete scoring. Here is the top 20:

1	RB	LaDainian Tomlinson	SD
2	RB	Priest Holmes	KC
3	QB	Peyton Manning	IND
4	WR	Randy Moss	OAK
5	RB	Shaun Alexander	SEA
6	WR	Chad Johnson	CIN
7	RB	Willis McGahee	BUF
8	QB	Daunte Culpepper	MIN
9	WR	Terrell Owens	PHI
10	WR	Torry Holt	STL
11	RB	Edgerrin James	IND
12	RB	Tiki Barber	NYG
13	TE	Tony Gonzalez	KC
14	QB	Donovan McNabb	PHI
15	RB	Deuce McAllister	NO
16	RB	Corey Dillon	NE
17	WR	Marvin Harrison	IND
18	WR	Javon Walker	GB
19	WR	Joe Horn	NO
20	RB	Julius Jones	DAL

WR are more important than you are giving them credit for, but not because of the scoring. It is because of your required starters and because you are in an 8 team league.

See, there is a sizeable drop-off in the receivers after the top 5, and again after the top 12. RB on the other hand, while the top 3 are great, a little further down the list they do get and stay fairly similar to one another. Overall, the RB position is much deeper for quality guys, which is what you need in an 8 team league to win. In a league with more teams, we would go deeper down both RB and WR lists, and then there would be a bigger drop-off in RB and WR would become a deeper position, and RB would be more valuable.

In your league, guys like DeShaun Foster and Warrick Dunn are ranked down in the 20s and are 60 points off the 7th ranked Deuce McAllister. The 20th or so WR, although they score less, are also 60 points off the top 7 WR.

BUT, you start more WR in your league than RB, 24 vs. only 16. That is why WR are increasing in value. You want to make sure you get these top tier WR so you have a clear advantage at those positions, and then you can still draft good RB later on to fill the RB starter spots.

Now, that isn't too say you should definitely draft a WR with a top 5 pick in your draft. If you can get a top WR (Chad Johnson, Holt, etc.) in the 2nd round, while still getting a top RB in the 1st, then that is the best way to approach your draft.

Sorry this response took so long.

How do I change the 300 yd per game to 400 and the 100 yd rushing to 200 yd to make it compile correctly?

also I see no where to put 2 pt conversions

and

our defenses get the six points on a return touchdown, but so does the player who did it...

thanks..great product...made me in our super bowl two years in a row
