DeShaun Foster misses Monday practice

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Dan Morgan and Julius Peppers both expect to play this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, but it's unclear how effective Carolina's two defensive stars will be.

Morgan has a shoulder injury and Peppers missed practice Monday with a broken hand. Both were injured in Carolina's Oct. 16 win against Detroit and used last weekend's bye to rest.

The extra rest means Morgan won't miss a game. The linebacker said he'll play Sunday with a harness on his dislocated shoulder.

"I'll be limited, but I'll just go out there and play," he said.

Morgan said he had the same injury three years ago and needed surgery to correct it. He said he's trying to avoid an operation this time around and is trying to treat it with rehabilitation focused on improving his arm strength and range of motion.

Peppers, meanwhile, has a thick black cast on his right hand after breaking it against the Lions. He returned to the game but was only used in third-down pass rushing situations. Until he tests his hand in Wednesday's practice, he said he wasn't sure what he's capable of doing with the cast.

"I haven't really tested it out to see what I can do and what I can't do," he said. "I am expecting to play like I normally play."

The one thing Peppers said he won't do is use the cast as a weapon and hit opposing players with it.

"It's not really that hard," he said. "I would probably hurt myself more if I try to whack somebody with it."

Also missing practice Monday was running back DeShaun Foster, who has been bothered by a bruised knee and did not play against the Lions. Quarterback Jake Delhomme was back on the field after sitting out last week. He was knocked out of the Detroit game late in the fourth quarter on a hit by Kenoy Kennedy.

I am starting to think that Nick Goings will be a solid play during the fantasy playoffs.

Where do you get your info? The Carolina Panthers are one of our clients and we uplink the Panthers Presser every Mon. and Wed., they canceled today because there wasn't anything worth have a conference about since they were on the bye week and all.

Just curious.

Damn, last week they were making it sound like DeShaun was practically ready to play...

Hopefully they are just resting him still but this is bad news...I thought for sure that he would be back and would start to get more carries.

Oh yeah, the Panthers Presser is the ONLY place to get news about anything. If it's not in the Panthers Presser, then there's no news to tell.
