Will Burleson become a #1 again?

Recommended Posts

I was traded Burleson and he's a back up right now, but wanted to know if you think he'll bust out.

I think so. Culpepper really likes getting the ball into his hands because he can turn short passes into big gains. IMHO he'll re-emerge as the clear #1.

He has never been a #1 Wr...how can he re-emerge as one?

He was the #1 at the beginning of the year and for a brief stretch last year, which included-

10/17 @NO W 38-31 Yes 6 134 (Moss went down)

10/24 TEN W 20-3 Yes 6 53 (decoy)

10/31 NYG L 13-34 Yes 6 43 1 (decoy)

11/08 @IND L 28-31 Yes 1 8 1

11/14 @GB L 31-34 Yes 11 141 1

11/21 DET W 22-19 Yes 5 52 1

2005

09/11 TB L 13-24 Yes 3 45 (tough pass D)

09/18 @CIN L 8-37 Yes 3 48 (tough pass D and injured)

He scored in 4 of 6 weeks last year while Moss was injured. This year is his 3rd year. If you were counting on him at the beginning of the year or can get him cheaply there is a good chance he can put up some decent numbers as the Vikings fight for a playoff birth in the NFC North.

Their upcoming schedule-

Sun 10/30 at Carolina 1:00 pm

Sun 11/6 Detroit 1:00 pm

Sun 11/13 at NY Giants 1:00 pm

Mon 11/21 at Green Bay 9:00 pm

Sun 11/27 Cleveland 1:00 pm

Sun 12/4 at Detroit 1:00 pm

Sun 12/11 St. Louis 1:00 pm

Sun 12/18 Pittsburgh 1:00 pm

Sun 12/25 at Baltimore 8:30 pm

Really only Baltimore is tough against the pass and they may have given up by then. Pitt has a tough D, but it is susceptible (sp?)

What exactly was Burleson when he racked up 1000+ yards 9 TDs last year while Moss was out/gimpy nearly the entire year? Don't be stupid.

He may have a hard time becoming a #2.
