Jay 0 Posted April 21, 2006 As soon as Houston decided to make a commitment to David Carr as their starting quarterback, they should have been on the phone finding the team in the top 5 that wanted to trade up to get Reggie Bush. It seems that there actually might be a taker in the Jets. As long as the deal is reasonable, they need to make that deal. Getting D'Brickshaw Ferguson is what is going to dramaticly improve this team. They've needed a franchise left tackle since inception, and they have a premier opportunity to move DOWN and still take a premier player at their biggest need position. I'm just not sure it's a good deal for the Jets. They look like a team that is going to be bad for a couple of years. Giving the likely first round pick to move up would likely mean two very high first round picks to Houston for a possible part-time player. Maybe someone will move up and NOT take Bush, and take one of the QBs. In any situation, if Houston can get a fair deal (or even slightly below traditional market value), I think they should jump at it.
mikeso 0 Posted April 21, 2006 i still dont know what the hell houston is thinking keeping carr....carr can not be the answer and leader of the future in houston....that beig said..houston drafts bush and keeps him...try out carr for another year and then if it does work out. time to look for a QB next years draft... Vikings4ever 550 Posted April 21, 2006 If they trade down, they likely won't get the Brick. He's the obvious choice for New Orleans (they have 2 young good DEs, just signed Brees, they have the Deuce, they're weak at OT, and Hawk is a slight step down in value). jocstrap 8 Posted April 21, 2006 Ahhh the draft - a most exciting and frustrating time. How do we know that carr isn't the Qb for Houston? Manning (peyton that is) would have spent his entire career on his back if he was at Houston. Address the O-line and see what carr can do.
Captian America 0 Posted April 21, 2006 I agree that Houston has to address the OL, but I would draft Bush and trade Davis for an offensive lineman that can help them. I would contact the Colts and maybe a couple other teams who are in need of a good running back.
Stars 0 Posted April 21, 2006 The right trade has to be the best move - it's a killer when the streets-ahead BPA is a player you don't need. Assuming that one of the Jets, NOS (or whoever they might trade with) or Titans selects Leinart - which must be a given in the circumstances - then one of Ferguson, Williams or Bush is guaranteed to be available for Houston at 4. Which would be fine - each is a very good player, and the no. 4 pick costs quite a bit less than the no.1. And they get an extra pick to go with it. Good business - if they can do the deal. Yes, maybe you should be helping the team out instead of Dan Reeves and Gary Kubiak. Hell, what do they know? Carr has great physical tools and has had almost 0 help on offense outside of when AJ and DD have been healthy. You can't expect any QB getting sacked over 200 times in his first 4 seasons to be consistent. Add in the fact AJ pulled up lame halfway through 2004 and was out for numerous games in 2005, what's Carr supposed to do, light up the scoreboard with Jabar Gaffney and Corey Bradford? Eriadoc 4 Posted April 21, 2006 Yes, maybe you should be helping the team out instead of Dan Reeves and Gary Kubiak. Hell, what do they know? Nice response. So many people post their opinions as if they have the One True Answer and they're simply amazed that no one can see their incredible football acumen. Personally, I don't know if Carr is the answer or not, but if Reeves and Kubiak see enough to re-sign the guy and move forward with him, then I'm inclined to give them the bnenefit of a doubt. How many Super Bowl appearances do Reeves and Kubiak have between them?
