Jets Draft

Recommended Posts

This is the first year I've really gotten into reading up on the draft as a Jet's fan. Usually I'd just catch parts of it as it played out on ESPN. I've gotta say I'm torn as far as what I want them to do with the 4th pick.

The biggest question for me is what to do if Leinart is available at #4. I personally out of the big 3 (Leinart, Young, Cutler) would want Leinart, but I wouldn't want to trade up to get him. I'm not a big fan of college football and only saw one or two USC games but what exactly is wrong with Leinart to have so many questions surrounding him in this draft. I can't separate the smokescreens from the truth.

I hear alot about his "weak arm". I just don't understand how he could be as successful as he's been with a "weak arm". Pennington was always labeled as having a weak arm, but before his rotator cuff injury he was extremely sucessful in the NFL.

I've even heard a lot of Jets fan refer to Leinart as "a left-handed Pennington". How can that be a bad thing?

So I guess I'm just looking for some good opinions on why or why not people think he can be successful in the NFL. From both Jets fans and just football fans in general.

I would sit back and draft whichever one of the concensus top four - Bush, Leinart, Williams or Ferguson - falls to you. Any one of them is a good pick and could be no.1 in a weaker year.

i heard they like the qb out of oregon and they can get him in the 2nd round so they might go williams if he's there and if not, ferguson.

I'm blanking on the Oregon QB's name, but I've heard a lot of good things about him too. Wouldn't mind drafting him at all.

My biggest gripe as a Jets fan is that I really want a franchise QB we can start to build around. I am a Pennington fan, but we can't keep going through this will he last a full season crap. I'm also willing to give Ramsey a shot, but based on what I've seen from him so far I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I'm kind of thinking they should trade up to 2 before the draft.

Then, if the Texans pass on Bush, they can either take him, or trade out. Either way that 2nd pick's value will sky rocket if Bush is not taken, so they'd be in a great position, having paid a lower price for it ahead of time.

If Bush is selected then you still get your choice of Lienart, D'Brick, or whoever, rather than seeing which one falls to 4.
