Dynasty FF league

Recommended Posts

I've been interested in starting a dynasty league with some of my friends. I was wondering if anyone could explain how to go about setting one up, or if someone could point me to a site where it's explained how to set one up.

The set up is no different than a redraft or keeper league. What differs is how you handle drafts, IR and roster slots the years following the inagural season.

Here are the rules for the LOD

I post them because the site has a funky color for the font right now and it is impossible to read at the league site.

THE LEAGUE

The Legion of Doom (LOD) is a dynasty league that was formed by geeks from FFTODAY in early 2000.

THE OWNERS

The LOD is compromised of 14 teams/owners from around the country. These 14 teams are divided into 2 equal divisions of 7 each, the Hall of Justice and the Hall of Doom.

THE SEASON

The regular season consists of a 13 week regular season, where everyone plays everyone else once. At the conclusion of the regular season , 8 playoff teams are identified. These 8 teams are compromised of the top 3 teams in each division, and 2 wild cards (the team remaining with the best win-loss record, and the remaining team with the most points scored) the points scored wild card will be choosen first so as to avoid any conflict and remain consistent.

Teams are ranked according to their Win-Loss record. The tiebreakers are as follows:

1. Total Points Scored

2. Head to Head Record

3. Divisional Record

In the event of a tie during the regular season each team will be credited with half a win and half a loss, during a playoff game both teams will advance to the next round making it a 3 way dance.

THE PLAYOFFS

The playoffs are single elimination and the 8 playoff teams (using above criteria) are seeded as follows:

1.Top Division Winner (see rankings above)

2. Other Division Winner

3. Top Second Place Team

4. Other Second Place Team

5. Top Third Place Team

6. Other Third Place Team

7. Points Scored Wild Card

8. Win-Loss Wild Card

The first round of the playoffs (Week 14) the matchups are as follows:

Game 1 1 vs 8

Game 2 2 vs 7

Game 3 3 vs 6

Game 4 4 vs 5

The second round of the playoffs (Week 15) the matchups are as follows:

Game 5 Game 1 Winner vs Game 4 Winner

Game 6 Game 2 Winner vs Game 3 Winner

LOD Championship Game (Week 16) the matchup is as follows:

Game 5 Winner vs Game 6 Winner

LOD vs XDL Championshsip Game (Week 17) the matchup is as follows:

LOD Champion vs XDL Champion

A LOD Championship Trophy was purchased by a former League Member (Kadaver) and goes to the LOD Champion, who keeps it for 1 year until a new champion is crowned at which time the trophy shall be shipped to the New Champion to hold.

THE DRAFT

The drafts will consist of 6 rounds, of which the first 3 will be in order from first to worst, after the 3rd Round we will switch over to serpentine style for the remainder of the draft. For purposes of draft seeding the first 12 draft positions will be filled with the teams not participating in the LOD Championship Game and will be based on the rankings (see The Season Section), the LOD Championship game runner-up will occupy the 13th position and the LOD Champion will occupy the 14th position. These drafts will be governed by the following rules:

1. The Rosters must be trimmed to 26, 2 weeks prior to the draft date, in the event a team fails to meet this deadline the commisioner will make the appropriate roster cuts (he shall attempt to pick the worst players from the team) Cut Down Date A

2. The draft will include that year’s rookie class and any available free agents.

3. There is a 24 hour time limit per pick, in the event that the time expires that owner’s pick will be moved to the end of that round.

4. Trading of draft picks is limited to the restrictions in The Trade Process Section.

THE ROSTER REQUIREMENTS

The standard roster requirement is 30 Active Players. Rosters must carry no more than 30 Active Players at all times except the period between Cut Down Date A and Cut Down Date B. Between these dates the rosters will fluctuate according to these rules. Rosters will be at 26 at Cut Down Date A, 32 after the draft, and back to 30 at Cut Down Date B.

Players may be placed on Injured Reserve if listed as Doubtful, Out, or IR (out for season) on the official NFL Injury Reports. A player must be removed off of Injured Reserve once they no longer meet the above requirements and appropriate roster moves must be made.

All player’s official positions will be determined by the commissioner, who will use the official NFL site to make his judgement.

STARTING LINEUP REQUIREMENTS

1 Quarterback (QB)

2 Running Backs (RB

3 Wide Receivers (WR)

1 Tight End (TE)

1 Kicker (K)

1 Defense/Special Teams (D/ST)

STARTING LINEUP SUBMISSION PROCESS

Lineups must be submitted not later than 12:00 PM EST on Sunday, if you fail to submit a lineup for a week then your previous weeks lineup will be used, with Week 1 of a season being the exception. If you fail to turn a lineup in for Week 1 your team will receive a score of 0 for the week. If you have a player playing on a Thursday Night Game or a Saturday game you must submit those players prior to the games starting, also if you have a player that you started the previous week and they play on Thursday or Saturday and nothing is submitted then they player will start for your team, thus if you don’t want that player(s) to start you must also submit that information prior to the games starting.

Lineups may be submitted on our Message Board (or the alternate board in the event the FFTODAY board is down), or via email to the Commisioner Justice (stephemotley@hotmail.com) and also be nice and send a copy to your opponent that week as well. Computer/internet failure or unavailibility will not be a valid reason for failure to submit a timely lineup.

SCORING

All scoring will be done by the Commissioner and he will be the final authority on any scoring disputes.

The scoring is as follows:

1 Pt For 10 Yards Rushing/Receiving

1 Pt For 20 Yards Passing

6 Pt For Rushing/Receiving/Def/St Td

3 Pt For Passing Td

1 Pt For Each Extra Pt

3 Pt For Each Field Goal

2 Pt For Field Goal Over 50yds (in addition to the 3 pt for a total of 5 pt)

1 Pt For 2 Pt Conv Passing

2 Pt For 2 Pt Conv Rushing/Receiving

2 Pt For A Safety

10 Pt For A Defensive Shutout

1 Pt For A Sack, Int, Fumble Recovery

1 Pt Per 10 Yards On A Pr/Kr When A TD Is Scored Only

THE TRADING PROCESS

Trading is allowed. However from Week 12 until the LOD Championship Game no trading is allowed.

Trading of draft picks is allowed except for those involved in more than 2 draft seasons away. For purposes of this section a new season will begin at the conclusion of the draft for that year. The number and types of players in a trade may be unbalanced. However, unbalanced trades must be accompanied by other roster movements in order to stay within the parameters of the rules. Once a set of owners has agreed upon a trade, they both need to email the Commisioner Justice (stephenmotley@hotmail.com) on the trade, and eithier the parties involved or the Commissioner will post the trade on the message board. The owners not involved will then have 48 hours to approve or disapprove of the trade, after which time a vote of approved will be entered for those having not yet voted. A trade must have a simple majority to be approved (at least 8 approved votes), disapproved votes should be reserved for clear actions of collusion or the most egregious violations of fairness.

THE FREE AGENT PROCESS

The annual free agent period begins after Week 1 and ends prior to Week 12. The weekly free agent period begins on Tuesday and ends on Friday at 3:30 PM EST. The process will utilize a waiver priority order which is based on the rankings using the current league standings for that week. Free agent moves are limited to 2 per week. Each owner will awarded one request prior to anyone getting a second request. Requests must be emailed to the Commissioner Justice (stephenmotley@hotmai.com) during the weekly period. The commissioner is not responsible for any computer/technical problems that do not allow the requests to be received during the weekly period. In order to add a player a player must be dropped or put on injured reserve (see requirements). Dropped players will be placed on waivers and will not be available for acquisition until the next weekly free agent period. No free agent acquisitions will be awarded that would bring the roster out of compliance (i.e. more than 30 players).

OWNER REMOVAL PROCESS

Please note that in order to remove an owner the cirumstances must be extreme. An owner may leave under their own free will at any time. In order to remove and owner at least 10 owners must vote to remove the owner in question.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCESS

If time allows all disputes will be resolved by the league, in the event that something needs to be done in a timely manner the resolution will be left up to the Commisioner Justice.

THINGS NOT COVERED BY THESE RULES

Anything not covered by the rules will be resolved by the league.
