Savage Beast 1 Posted June 10, 2006 If Dayne can't win the starting RB job in Denver this season, he is never getting a starting job anywhere in the league. The only RB competition he has in Denver so far this year is a few 3rd down situational RB's. If a NFL veteran like Dayne can't beat out situational RB's for a starting job, then he's just about done in the NFL.
Snowbound70 0 Posted June 10, 2006 The only way Dayne could have carried over his college "success" is if he had the same advantage, an incredible offensive line so that first contact was always 4 or 5 yards downfield, i.e. he would have had to come out in Emmitt's heyday, kill him and then run behind that Dallas line, otherwise he's exposed as having no decisiveness, power or heart. He does have the record, after being the starting RB for four years on a running team. Ricky was stuck as a fullback for his first two years at UT because his coach was an offensive genius (John Machovic) and still broke Dorsett's record. I would rather draft Ricky and wait a year hoping he comes back than take Dayne. If you must have him, I would wait until the 14th round.
