Mike FF Today 752 Posted July 17, 2006 Hey guys,  I'm sure a lot of you have played in the FFTOC previously, but if you haven't you might want to give this format a try. You can start any NFL player you want - but only once... an interesting way to play outside your typical head-to-head league. They have games for evey budget ($60, $250, $1000) and all of their games offer Early Birds 100%+ Payouts in Cash and Prizes! Check out a few details below... Teams compete in the twelve week FFTOC regular season Finals prize awards are determined by highest cumulative scorers over weeks 13, 14, 15 and 16 of the NFL season. Six teams per bracket and each bracket winner doubles their money Top 33% of teams advance to play for four weeks in the Finals Waldman, MacGregor, and myself will be participating this year, so come compete with us in the FFTOC! bleedcoltsblue 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Please set me straight on the FFTOC. The way I calculate it, only 36% of the money goes towards prizes. Is that correct? If so that is worse than a state lottery.
Greg Alan 0 Posted July 21, 2006 Hi guys, Greg Alan here. I have a stake in the FFTOC, so please caveat or challenge my comments extra hard as you see fit. Okay, with that disclaimer in place, I’ll jump in…  Actually the FFTOC Early Bird packages give out over 100% - this is a critical part of the FFTOC.  Its critical because we want a game where the best players can consistently make a profit. Sure it might not happen every year, but in the long run, its important good players have a positive mathematical Expected Value.  As far as I know, all the other big prize contests completely fall flat here.  EXAMPLE: Vegas and AC Events -- tons of fun, but lets break them down… The math is completely against you.  Two guys team up and fly to Vegas to compete for big bucks.  Entry Fee – $1400 or more Airfare – 2 tickets for $500 Hotel – room for a couple nights for $200 Other Event Fees - $150 or more A co-manager fee - $100 or more Tip the cabbie, waitress, etc, 20 more bucks gone!  Your talking about investing $2,500 dollars to win a small fraction of a million dollar prize pool.  Now, the math shows the average player has a 1/800 chance at the money and that yields an expected value of only $1,250. In turn, the average team playing in this type of event is going to lose more than $1,000 each year in the long haul. Its fun, but not good math.  So, Who's Really the Best Fantasy Football Manager in the World? We say the best fantasy football manager isn't necessarily the guy who can afford to take a week off of work, travel to another city, and drop $2,000+ into entry fees and add-on costs all to win prizes that are a fraction of the entry fee. Do you agree?  Well, the FFTOC requires none of that. And, the FFTOC cash and prizes come to over 100% for all Early Birds (in by 8/5).  I love drafting a team too, but I firmly believe when you’re playing for big money, against 100s of others, the following limitation are just not expectable:  * Payouts close to 50% (consider all the costs) * Random draw getting a bad draft position (you want the #4 spot this year?) * Limited access because trades are not allowed * One or two key major injuries can really hurt your team (forget the Grand Prize if a few of your top picks go down) * Playoffs that pit teams paying 1% of their bank to get Gado against others that required 50%. Same with Droughns, the prior year (huge problem after you advance beyond your league of 12)  With millions of fantasy football managers, we simply felt we needed a better way to crown a champion – a true Online Championship.  Further, its critical to me, FFTOC events offer at least one game that’s financially within reach -- the FFTOC has a $60 game, $250 game and a $1000 game.  Doing the math on the 2006 FFTOC $250 game, it looks like this…  FFTOC puts $5000+$1000 (early bird) into the pool to get things started. Then, 80% of each $250 entry fee goes into the prize pool.  As a bonus… Managers get a 4for4.com subscription - $25.95 value Plus, free MyFFTOC Software - $33.95 value Plus, free pcDrafter Gold Draft Software - $14.95 Plus, the winner takes home a "7ft Trophy Winner's Trophy" - $2,000 value  Now, lets say 200 managers play in this event. The math comes to…  Average Payout = $230 All the bonus stuff = $25.95 + $33.95 + $14.95 + $10.00  Add it all up and it comes to $314.85 (for an entry fee of $250).  That comes to 126%.  Not bad at all, especially when you look at other FF contests.  In short, I believe the FFTOC is the best way to crown a champion – the fairest format with payouts that allow the best managers to consistently win more money than they put up.  That is our formula.  Greg
jacklesize 0 Posted July 21, 2006 Hey- I think It's a great concept. I think it's easy winnings for the FFer who knows what he's doing. Â I was in the $50 contest last year - won my bracket and doubled my money. I love this game so mush I've moved up this year to the $250. Hopefully, I do as well as I did last year and take home the $500.

If I could play, I'd probably try for the Regular Season bracket each time and try to formulate a plan with 2nd tier players that have great matchups in the Finals. What do you think? Â BTW, here's an article Todd Charnetski shared with us. Todd won his bracket and $10,000 last year. He shares a few tips (but naturally he doesn't give it all away). If interested, his article is here... http://www.fftoc.com/todd-c.php
jacklesize 0 Posted July 21, 2006 Thanks for the heads up on the article. I'll take a look and and see if there is anything I can add to my tricks.
Restricted 0 Posted August 20, 2006 This is a format I want to try but don't want to pay for it. Anyone know of any free ones running on any sites?
gffootball 0 Posted August 22, 2006 That guy won his bracket and doubled his money? That doesn't sound like good odds to me; if I win my bracket, I want to quintiple my money, at the least. Â I actually ran a version of this last year with a friend, just one-on-one, for bragging rights. It definitely is a fun concept. Just make sure you get paid.
