Trent Green

Recommended Posts

Most experts and others have been really down on Green for this year due to the new system Edwards brings to the team. With Roaf now gone as well where would you put him. I think he is out of the starter range but is he still a good number 2? Would you put him above Mcnair and Brunell as a back up?

He had a bad time of it last year when Roaf was out. Before this injury I placed him as a marginal #1, decent #2, now I'm thinking I'll let some one else remember his glory days and draft him, there're plenty of other decent QBs to select from.

lets just say DEs should have a field day against both tackles

to sufficiently block they may need to chip with a TE on both sides.... not good in my eyes

He's 36 years old and he lost both book-end tackles this off-season.... Dicky and Saunders are gone... Mr. Conservative (Herm) will be helping calling the plays.... He's on my roster and i'm not too happy.... Lets Hope Mike Vick turns it up a notch this year...(well at least I hope that :D )

Anyway I'm sure Mr. Green won't be his cool collective self during those playaction passes when he used to have all day to sit there and pick the defense apart... you know he'll have happy feet knowing that big Willie isn't there protecting that blind side anymore after the first few times he gets buried from behind... that's just not a good thing

H-E-L-P-I-N-G... you gonna tell me he has no say as to what goes on when he's managing the game, what so ever?

misread, my bad

but yeah, he has never had much of a say at all during games

his philosophy is to give the co-ordinators full reign of play calling

he is the face of the team on the sidelines and will get in peoples face or give advice but he is mainly a motivator and does most of his work in practice

I just know he's weak from what I've seen.... I mean I've seen the Jets running the ball 3, 4, 5 times in a row down by 17 points in the 4th quarter (granted the Qb was Bollinger) but $hit man give um a shot.... Oh well......cheers

So with all of the obvious bad news in this is Green an acceptable #2? He was an outside #1/good #2 before. Would you rather have guys like McNair or Brunell

I would be really surprised if Green throws for more than 20 TD passes this year as Herm wants to be more dedicated to running the ball than the Chiefs were last season.

The impact of Roaf's injury last year was more on the running game. That has been dealt with elsewhere. The impact on Green was less pronounced, because Black was a better pass blocker than a riun blocker, though still not up to Roaf's level.

IMO the new OC will have a bigger impact than Roaf's absense, because more of the patterns will be downfield, and fewer pass rush deflating screen passes will be used. Green will get MORE long TD's, but fewer in the red zone, because of the bigger focus on power football. Martyball.

Green is still a far better #2 option than Brunell or McNair. The Skins and Ravens want to win with defense. Edwards would love to play that way also, but his personnel and division opponents dictate that they're going to have to score some points. Even a best case scenario for Brunell or McNair (and I'd lean to McNair) shouldn't approach Green's production.

;)

Your OC will have more of an impact than a first ballot HOFer. Keep thinking that.

 ;)
