RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted July 31, 2006 I understand Bush is unproven and has not played in the NFL. I think it's safe to say that the leading reason why people are down on Bush is because of the presence of McAllister. Am I the only one who doesn't see Deuce as that big of a threat? Two things. He is coming off ACL surgery... it has been stated on this bored many times that a player never really fully recovers from that until two years after the injury. Second, and more importantly, did anyone watch Deuce run last year? He was 3 yards and a cloud of dust... totally reminiscent of Eddie George past his prime in my opinion. As football fans, and fantasy players, there is no doubt that personal feelings are in the picture... and I think the picture of Bush is being distorted. Look at what some of the players on the Saints are saying: From Joe Horn: "You ever seen "The Matrix" ... when he's dodging those bullets? That's Reggie Bush. I thought of that because it was real. That's what I was seeing out there. I mean, the guy's phenomenal with his moves and the way he runs with the football. It's fact." Michael Bennett: "I'm just looking forward to getting his autograph on a jersey," Bennett said after practice Sunday. "I'm not frustrated, because if I was an organization and the guy fell to my team with the second pick, I would pick him too. He does some great things on the field." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2534824 I am officially going to take Reggie Bush @ 2.6 (PPR league). I just hope that he doesn't do too much in preseason to move his draft status up.
akaoni 0 Posted July 31, 2006 My main concerns lie not with Bush, but rather with what surrounds him. Namely: The New Orleans Saints! Bush is an electric player with big time skills. The question remains, is New Orleans a good enough team to make use of them? I would have to say no. The Saints will be playing from behind all season, and even with Bush being featured in the passing game, it will take time for him to absorb the offense and be effective. Further, he'll loose some touches to Deuce, which naturally will decrease opportunities to produce. Finally, there's the wear and tear of the NFL season. As a Rook, can he shoulder the load? Don't get me wrong, I like Bush a lot, but I don't like him enough for a 2nd round pick in a typical 10-12 team redraft...
Watchdog 0 Posted July 31, 2006 Who exactly is high on McAllister?
Bad_Intentions 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I plan on taking him in one of the middle rounds of my draft, but i'm in a 16 team league so it will be tough to grab him, especially since I havent made up my mind that he is going to be a big time producer yet. I am in a keeper to so there is added incentive. Duece McAllister has been an injury waiting to happen the past few years, so I'm sure Bush will get his share of runs. Charger 0 Posted July 31, 2006 So, is everyone raking Bush higher than McAllister?
Sapronos04 0 Posted July 31, 2006 They are both #3 FF RB's at best. Thats not that high....
RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted July 31, 2006 I guess here's my question, how much do people see Deuce cutting into Bush's numbers? To me, a good comparison at worst is Fast Willie Parker and Bettis of last year. Upside is that I think bush is much better than FWP (conversely Pitt's line and team is much better), and that he'll be worth a lot more in a PPR league. ElvisMcCoy 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I probably have Bush ranked too low, but I have him higher than McCalister in a none PPR league. I've got Bush ranked at #30 overall and Deuce at 34. ADP for Bush is late 4th. I've made the decision that I will take Bush after the 4th round if no one else has snagged him. Have the Saints mentioned anything about Bush returning kicks this year? My league gets 1 point for 20 return yards so he could move way up my list if so.

You can't have it both ways. Clearly, if Bush loses significant touches to Deuce he's not shouldering the load. I have R. Bush projected somewhere around 1300-1500 combined yards. I'll grab him early so that he'll be on my roster for years to come when 2300 combined yards (rush/rec.)will be considered a given.
RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted August 1, 2006 How about this sports fans: Let's say Bush totals 1280 total yards (that's 80 a game), 48 rec (3 a game), and 6 TD's... does anyone know what place that would have put him in a PPR league last year for RB's? #14, 2 pts behind Mike Anderson and Warrick Dunn. Let's say we bump that up to 100 yards, 4 rec, and .5TD's a game for a total of 1600 total yards, 64 rec, and 8 TD's. I really think those numbers are easily attainable for Bush. That would have placed him 8th among RB's last year... 1 pt behind Portis. I think that's where he'll finish in PPR league's... somewhere between the #8-14 range. dynastybaby 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Ok, here is the thing to think about. Think of all the great first year RB's in the past 10-15 years. Let's examine if they had "Good" or even "Great" teams around them. L.T.-He was a beast as a rookie with NOTHING around him what so ever. Defense sucked too.... Caddie- Was good & would have been great if not for an injury. Simms is no better than Brees & I would take Horn & Stallworth over Galloway & Clayton. Let's not forget he came from a college where he shared carries. Faulk- Came in with a decent team. I think Reggie could duplicate his RC numbers. Barry Sanders- Awful team around him. Played from behind all the time & in a system that was pass first. (Run & shoot) Jamal Lewis-$hit offense, nice defense. Corey Dillon-Terrible team!! Dom Davis- Need I even go into the details?? The Denver RB's who had a great system, but not much in between Elway & Plummer. Please feel free to add to the list... I could go on & on... Last thing I am worried about is the system or the players around him. As for Deuce... He will get 10 carries a game no doubt. But Reggie will get 15-18 plus 4-6 catches. With what that he could be in for 1000+ rushing 600+ receiving & 10 TD's. Not to mention if you get long TD bonuses , he will help you there. The other thing is, the Saints did not give this guy 60 mill to be a part time player. He is the face of the organization with out taking a snap. He is also playing with a QB who LOVES to check down to his RB. (LT had 100 catches a few years back) I am taking him over guys like T.O., CJ, Holt, Fitz, Gates, McGahee, Westbrook, Bell etc... For those of you who dont, you will be very sorry come the highlights of week one...
