alex5444 0 Posted August 1, 2006 What does everyone think about Leonard Pope, the rookie TE in Arizona, this season? From what I've heard he's expected to win the starting job in camp. I figure he has a very could chance to be a TD vulture at least. When the Cards get in the red zone this year, the defense will have so many different guys they have to account for....Boldin, Fitz, and Edge in the backfield. I figure with all the attention they'll be getting, Pope will either be completely ignored or he'll at least have one on one coverage. At 6'8", he should win those one on one jump ball battles with ease. I grabbed him in the last round of my draft. Also, if Warner goes down, which he almost certainly will, you'd think the rookie QB coming in will be checking his TE safety valve a lot in the redzone, rather than make a riskier pass to a wide receiver. What does everyone else think?
Ilov80s 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Too many other options. I was also never that impressed with Pope. I always expected more out of him. He looked clumsy and stiff. In a season with so many good TEs, I would not bother.
Belushi 9 Posted August 1, 2006 From what I've read, he's not much of a blocker, so he probably won't start. And with that group of receivers and Edge as a safety valve, I'm not sure how many passes will go his way each week. I'd say he's a bye-week fill-in.
