pick 2.09 in a 12 team league

Recommended Posts

This could be the situation I am in Draft Day and I was hoping to get some opinions.

12 team league. Performace scoring with all TDs, incl QBs, at 6pts.

QB-RB-RB-WR-WR-WR-TE-K-DEF

I am assured of Portis at #4 and that's about all I am assured of.

At pick 2.09 (my 2nd rounder) I will probably have the following to choose from (note: tiers are set at 16pts):

Tier-2 QBs: Hasselbeck, McNabb

Tier-4 RBs: Julius Jones, Joseph Addai

Tier-5 RBs: Willie Parker, Chester Taylor, Warrick Dunn, Corey Dillon, Reuben Droughns

Tier-1 WRs: Chad Johnson

Tier-2 WRs: Marvin Harrison, Donald Driver, Hines Ward, Chris Chambers, Darrell Jackson, Anquan Boldin

Tier-1 TE: Antonio Gates

I am leaning towards J Jones and taking one of the Tier 2 WRs on the way back. But I may be just as happy with C Johnson + Harrison/Driver/Ward and then take Dillon or Dunn in 4th. Thoughts?

Its also possible both Tier 2 QBs are gone and I have a chance at Fitz or TO at 2.09. We will call this Best Case Scenario "A."

And then any opinions on 3.04?

maybe chad and one of your tier 5 RBs. then come back w/ a couple of WRs.

chad johnson, then one of the rbs on the way back. maaaaybe gates on the way back, but i'd feel uneasy about waiting until 4.09 for RB2.

Well, with all TD's counting for 6pts, I would look at taking Peyton Manning 4th overall unless one of the big 3 backs fall to you. With Edge gone he's gonna throw it more and I wouldnt be surprised to see him approach 40 TD's or so with the weapons they have on offense and two mainly recieving RB's. With your second rounder I would take the top RB on the board and try to pick up Harrison in round 3 to get double the points because it seems that Peyton to Marvin is good for at least 12 TD's a year. A bruiser back such as TJ Duckett may also be a steal in later rounds with TD's weighing that heavily. Just some thoughts, something to change it up a bit from the "take 2 backs with your first two picks" approach. Hope I helped, and good luck.

Manning is #4 on my Overall sheet from CC/DB, and I struggled with this.

After seeking some advice and looking at some numbers I thought better of it for this reason:

12 teams x 1 QB = 12 QB out of 32 or 37.5% of avail

12 teams x 2 RB = 24 RB out of 32 - and thats IF all teams have clear #1, which they don't - 75% of avail

So I am definetly going Portis with #4.

try to pick up Harrison in round 3 to get double the points because it seems that Peyton to Marvin is good for at least 12 TD's a year

As for the Manning-Harrison hook-up: If Harrison and Manning hook up for 2 TDs, then having Harrison and Manning is better than having (let's say) Driver and Manning if Driver scores only one TD, but it's not as good as having Driver and Manning if Driver scores 3. I want to maximize my total amount of TDs. I don't neccessarily care whether they happen on the same play or different stadiums.

Just some thoughts, something to change it up a bit from the "take 2 backs with your first two picks" approach. Hope I helped, and good luck.

I agree - I don't think there is enough talent in a 12 team re-draft to bank on RB-RB after pick #6 - it just gets too thin at RB.

Thanks and good luck to you too.

I'd go for marvin harrison at 2.09 and then maybe another WR, and in round 4 you might be able to nab one of your tier 5 RB's in the fourth...you could hold off on QB's until a little later i think
