Friendly Advice Please

Recommended Posts

I had the 4th pick (which I HATED; worst pick in the draft), and with Portis' status unknown, I really had no idea who to pick. Tiki is getting old and plays in a BRUTAL division, so I stretched like crazy and got Steven Jackson. This is how my draft turned out...

QB: M BULGER (6.7), t green (9.4)

RB: S. JACKSON (1.4), R. BROWN (2.7), w parker (7.4), m bell (12.7), c brown (15.4)

WR: C CHAMBERS (3.4), D. JACKSON (4.7), D. DRIVER (5.4), mi clayton (10.7)

TE: D CLARK (8.7)

K: J KASAY (13.4)

DST: JACKSONVILLE (11.4), washington (14.7)

Okay, so how do you all think I fared? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can improve this team?

Looks pretty solid to me, I don't see any blunders in there.

I think you got a steal in FWP round 7. My main concern is DJax coming off injury taking him round 4.

I also like C. Brown in round 15.

I love S Jax and am going to reach for him rd. 1, hopefully we don't get burned.

I agree with the above, and like SJax a lot, so Ilike that pick. You drafted well overall, think that you may have reached a little for Dallas Clark, but I don't know how the draft was playing out. Overall you did well, and the team looks pretty good. Anytime you can start your team with SJax and RBrown, you have a good start.

There was a huge run on TEs before I got Dallas Clark. I wanted Heap in the 6th round, but he was taken two picks before me, and Bulger and Parker were still left, so I gladly took them and waited a two rounds for the TE.

Some of the slips surprised me too. I got Ronnie because there was a run on WRs in the late 1st/early 2nd. I barely snagged Chambers (the person two spots behind me told me he had been targetting him for round 3 as well). Parker slipped because people concentrated on WRs AND there were early run on TEs (round 6). There were runs on DEF in rounds 8 and 9 and on kickers in rounds 9 and 10. I was able to get a couple better players just by waiting out those positions until the last rounds. Also, people weren't paying too much attention to the lesser known running backs (Frank Gore, Chris Brown, and Dom. Rhodes were still available in the last round). This is just a Yahoo league, but I finished near the bottom in my Yahoo league last year (got McGahee with 1.7 and Rudi with 2.4 and both were awful for the first eight weeks), so I don't exactly think I'm ready to move up.

One thing I was a little concerned about it relying too heavily on the Dolphins and Rams. I have starting RBs from both teams, a starting WR from the 'Fins, and a starting QB from the Rams. That wasn't intentional, it was just that Chambers was the best receiver available in round 3 and bulger the best QB in round 6.

Glad people like what I did. Hopefully it pans out well on the field too. I'm looking for changes to make, and the only real thing I can think of is trying to upgrade my TE, but I don't want to give up FWP (solid RB #3) or Bell (may do nothing, but if he does, the reward will be great), so I think I'll probably stay put for now. Thanks for the comments given, and any additional are welcome!
