Trade Which D? Indy or Carolina?

Recommended Posts

Due to a glitch during CBS draft my queue disappeared and by the time I got it to reappear with a refresh there was hardly any time on the clock so I took the first thing I saw -- a decent 2nd D that maybe I could trade later -- rather than get who knows what.

Now I want to trade one of the two Ds I have. Which should I trade? Indy? Or Carolina? Neither had a great week 1 but it's early so I don't want to take away too much from that. I am going to see how this weekend goes and then try to trade next week. Indy seems to play in the weaker division so to me it's not clear cut to dump them.

Also, look at my roster -- biggest need is WR tho the RB isn't that splendid either (stud, a handcuff, a guy on a horrible team, an injury prone RBBC guy, and a gamble on JJ). Let me know what sort of players you think that the D you suggest I trade could fetch alone and/or packaged with someone else (and let me know who you'd package). I know it's hard not knowing other teams rosters but that would make this post huge and generally I note that long posts don't garner many replies. It's a 12 team league, non-keeper.

The rest of my roster is (starters in parentheses):

QBs: Bulger, Rivers (1)

RBs: Tiki, Jacobs, Jordan, Foster, Barber III (2)

WRs: Boldin, Evans, Moulds (2)

TEs: McMichael

K: Akers

Hey, you league seems a lot like mine things can tighten up on you really quickly. While you RBs look like they could use immediate help I couldnt see you getting much for either of your defenses. I would recommend you pick up another reciever and wait for Barber to get a few more games under his belt. Tiki is a stud and will carry your backs for now and Foster very well could have his best year ever. Look for someone who has a deep reciever core and try to pick up one with a lot of risk/potential. If you can swap your defense and a third string RB or WR for a good reciever I'd definately take it and pick Gado up in the FA market. He might not get in there quick, but once he gets some carries he's gonna pound you to a few 100 yrd games this year.

Not real sure here, kinda tough question. Neither of your d's are of top 5 calibur that will get you much. Indy probably has the most value, but just not real sure what you'll get for them. Maybe like a Jordan-Indy trade for say Frank Gore and Stallworth. Trying to get a rb and wr combo that both have alot of upside. Something like that. Sorry for not too much help, tough question to answer.

I think you can trade either D as they are similar - though you might be able to get more for Indy D now than Carolina, and I'd personally keep Carolina first as they'll be off the field more when Steve Smith gets back

Your 3 WRs are serviceable - RBs a little shaky I'd try to get DeAngelo Williams first, to back up Foster who will get hurt - I think DeAngelo will have a great year and be ROY

If not him, maybe Maroney for the Pats - though peopel are high on him now after last week - if neither of these, maybe Norwood for Atlanta as Dunn will get hurt at some point

might also be able to take a handcuff to another owner & package with a RB/WR trade

I agree that both D's are about the same value, so it doesn't really matter which one you trade. I would keep Indy because I think they have a slightly easier schedule. I'd pair Carolina with Barber and try to get a servicable wr (someone like Bryant maybe - I don't know . . . just guessing). You might be able to trade for a player who is struggling now, but who has upside; some owner with with Horn or somebody who just did nothing week 1 might panic and pull the trigger on the trade. Since you already have foster, maybe you could trade for D. Williams (just a thought).

Good luck.

i think carolina's def will be considerably better than indy's ff-wise thisyear (depite their breakdown in wk1). but trade whichever the other guy wants. as far as what you can get owners vary a lot in how they value a defense, but it's probably not much. target someone w/a crappy matchup this week and offer 'em either of your d's for a bench guy w/some breakout potential (norwood/barberIII) or a receiver like either of the clayton's.
