joeyt7 1 Posted September 27, 2006 This is from NFL.com before the draft. Marques Colston Height: 6-4 Weight: 223 40 Speed: 4.51 V Position: Tight End College: Hofstra Final Grade: H 5.5 WR GM JR Scouting LLC Grading Scale/Key SUMMARY Colston is an interesting prospect because of his size/speed combination. He was first graded on Hofstra film in 2003 and he jumped out and made some big plays, but then he missed the 2004 season due to injury (he redshirted the 2004 season) and then had a very good comeback 2005 season. His measurables make you think he has the speed to be effective playing outside as a receiver, but once you watch a little film it is clear he lacks the burst and speed to get separation from NFL cornerbacks and is best suited to make the switch to tight end. At tight end, he has the speed to get down the seam vs. linebacker coverage and can get separation out of cuts. He has the frame to eventually bulk up to 240-plus pounds, will be able to run strong with the ball and gain yards after contact. He will be a good runner after the catch for a tight end. Overall, Colston is going to be drafted because of his measurables and college production as a receiver, but should only be signed as a free agent because he is a 'Tweener' between receiver and tight end. He can make an NFL team now as a third tight end and special teams player and eventually could develop into a starter if he plays aggressively and raises his level of intensity on every snap. Colston was a TE in college how could these leagues know he owuldnt be a TE in NO? Stop whining all the people who didnt get him as their TE!!

16 and 33 0 Posted September 27, 2006 He hasn't lined up at TE all year. It's bogus. I have him in one league, and I play him there because he can outperform most TEs, but the fact is he's a WR.
jdswan922 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Actually, I thought he was listed at TE because he played TE at Hofstra, but I did further research. I went to Hofstra's webpage and found a couple articles, both of which he was referred to as a receiver. I think he is listed as a TE because many scouts projected him as a TE in the NFL. travjam 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Yahoo's policy: What determines the position eligibility for each player? At the beginning of the Fantasy Football season, Yahoo! Sports placed all players into positions based on information from official rosters. Some players might appear in multiple position lists and are eligible to fill any of those positions. In-season updates to position eligibility are made only if it is clear that the player's primary position has changed. Players do not lose position eligibility at any time during the season. Please note that players might not be eligible for all of the positions that are displayed on their Yahoo! Sports player profile. Those of you looking for it to be changed before next season will be out of luck.

He was not projected to make the team as a WR (due to being such a late round pick), so there was talk of converting him to TE.
