pnorman 0 Posted September 28, 2006 I guess I'm lucky to have them both but which one do I start? Gates is usually a no-brainer but he's been used sparingly because of Rivers while Smith is on fire.

akaoni 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Gates is probably the play here. Even though San Diego has the tougher matchup, Gates is just a must start, he will get on track eventually, and could put up decent numbers as a safety blanket for Rivers. Just don't expect a trip to the end zone just yet. As of for L.J. He's once again fighting injuries. From Fanball: THE NEWS Eagles tight end L.J. Smith scored his first touchdown of the season on Sunday, but that doesn't mean he was healthy. Smith suffered an AC sprain (shoulder) in week two and fought through it this week. "L.J.'s shoulder was bothering him and he was able to make it through the game," head coach Andy Reid told the team's official web site on Monday. Our View Reid's comments suggest Smith will be questionable or probable and potentially miss some practice this week. The Eagles won't practice until Thursday and don't play until Monday, which means L.J. will have an extra day to heal this week. We expect him to face the Packers on Monday night. Even though he's expected to play, I think that you have to go Gates here.
