Sitting my studs! Am I wrong?

Recommended Posts

In one league, I'm sitting Portis for Frank Gore and Willis McGahee. My reasoning for this is that Portis is "injured" and has a tough matchup against Dallas. In all liklihood, he's not hurt and will probably have a good game, but both McGahee and Gore have better matchups.

In the other league, I'm sitting Rudi Johnson (vs. BAL) for Chester Taylor vs. SF and Fred Taylor vs. TEN (Brian Westbrook is on BYE). I like Rudi but he hasn't been money since week 2 and this is against Baltimore.

Smart Choice or Dumbass? If Dumbass, please explain cause I'm not fully convinced myself.

How injured is portis really? I would wait till sunday morning and see what the early shows say about that. Gore vs Minn is not a great matchup as Minn run def is solid and u know SF will pass like crazy ala NE vs minn last week. If you get PPR Gore is still solid option.

Willis Is playing a weak GB def so he should do ok and is a decent option.

Portis is just a step above this guys when healthy so if he is ok I would maybe flip a coin and start portis but I think all 3 could get similar scores.(PPR means alot here)

Good call on this one as CT is solid and FT should have a big game.

I sat a stud last week (tom brady) for a excellent matchup (leinart vs greenbay)...didn't work out so well...I also went with Chester Taylor last week and sat another stud because of matchup issues (gore vs chicago) if I would have started either one of those 2 and simple stuck with the NEVER SIT YOUR STUDS theory...i would have won..hth

Go with your gut... Your reasoning is good. Matchups are good. It's hard to know when a team will leave you scratching your head saying .... what the... but given your choices you done good

 No, no I didn't. - The team I sat Rudi on I still won, but barely (by 4 points).

The game that I sat Portis though....I still don't know what happened to McGahee, I'm guessing he got hurt, but he ends up getting 4 rushes for 15 yards. I couldn't believe it. Based on how Anthony Thomas did in his place, if he had played the whole game, I think he would have done well. But all the same, I should have played Portis.I'm currently 27 points down but I still have Harrison, Watson and Vinatieri to play...They're playing now. Hoping something good happens. I would still be behind right now if I had played Portis, but not by nearly as much. I need a miracle now to pull this game out.
