The Moz 69 Posted November 24, 2006 Anyone know how much this costs to get a HDTV reciever. I have had a HD ready tv for a year now - I just got another one and figure may as well finally join the rest of the Football fan community in getting HDTV. Anyone know how this has to happen ? such as - do i need new equipment ? , cost a month , and is it worth it ?

Call them and tell them you want to cancel your account, tell them your cable company is giving you a better deal. They will try to give you stuff to keep your business, tell them you want an HD receiver w/Tivo for free or you are gone Worked for me, got the receiver, 6 free months Showtime and HD channels, and half off the NFL superfan channel. The Moz 69 Posted November 24, 2006 you have to pay for HD channels ? I thought once you got the reciever you were then just able to get them ?
Big_Pete 0 Posted November 24, 2006 you have to pay for HD channels ? I thought once you got the reciever you were then just able to get them ? no, it's like $11/month for HD channels. THey dont have an HDtivo anymore, as they are coming out with a new one, so they wont do that for you, but they'll probably give you a free HD receiver ($50 value probably) and probably give you hbo/showtime for a few months. They'll send someone out to change your dish to an oval dish as well.
SigEp316 0 Posted November 24, 2006 I got the HD DVR a while back...they had to come upgrade everything, including the DISH. There really is no substitute for HD, I've got it on all 4 TV's in the house.
Chiefs04 0 Posted November 24, 2006 I agree...there is really no point in having the TV if you dont get HD. They will need to put in a new dish also. Ask for the brand new 5lnb dish and make sure you get the new receiver as well. They will be adding 100+ HD channels in the next year with mpeg4 as well and you will need this equipment to get it(My buddy works for Directtv)....There is nothing...NOTHING...like football in HD.
