The Moz 72 Posted February 23, 2007 Okay just bought a Samsung 50 in DLP TV a few weeks ago ( after I turned in the POS plasma I bought at Wallmart ). This is a straight DLP and not a rear projection that runs DLP through it -- damn thing I don't think even weighed more than 50 lbs for a 50 in screen. Anyway picture is actually great and everyhting just I recently read where every so many years you have to replace the DLP bulb or something but it pretty much runs like new afterwards. Anyone know where you get the "bulbs " and the price tag on em ? I do gotta say it was suprising the picture qaulity ( HDTV ) is actually alot better on my Samsung DLP than it was on my focking POS Plasma that you couldn't even see unless the room was totally dark fue to incredible glare ! YOu should see the bulb information in your owners manual... otherwise online somewhere Im sure. For my DLP TV I can order through them and the replacement was $150 as of a year ago I believe. (I didnt need one, was just curious like yourself). Ive heard they are on ebay as well.... havent checked. Im all for DLP. Picture quality is great and as you said after 7 years or whatever and the bulb goes bad you have a brand new TV for less than $200. LCD/Plasmas are down the toilet at that point. Congrats on getting a good TV this time! The best way to get bulbs is to PURCHASE THE BULB REPLACEMENT WARRANTY!!! Seriously, you'll save yourself soooo much time and headaches this way. I know there are sites you can look for that have replacement bulbs, but they are a few hundred dollars apiece. This online retailier is good <--- you can pick different sammy bulbs, but cause I didn't know your model, that's all you get. lol Like 4-5 years ago, the bulbs were well over $500 apiece, so with even 1 bulb replacement, you paid off your warranty.... But yes, your bulbs will wear out and burn out. Alot of tv's have timers on the bulbs, so it'll shut down your tv unless you change them, even if they are still working. Just tell the tv you changed the bulb, and it'll be fine until it actually burns out. THen replace it, and presto, pretty much a brand new TV. Things you can do to help extend the life of the bulb greatly are, get monster (I dont work for them, they are just really really focking good) anyways, get Monster power conditioners, and if you want, the Voltage Stabalizer.... Between the two of them, you'll probably pay about as much as you did for that sammy 50" DLP, but you can plug everything into them, and everything will last so much longer. any other questions, feel free to ask. I did purchase a 2 year warranty for it this time as well for like 80 bucks. I can't understand why people are paying 1-2 K more for ( a good brand )plasma over DLP when 1st unlike plasma DLP have no glare issues , 2nd they last longer , 3rd they are more durable. LCD I understand as There isn't a better picture anywhere IMO than a 32 in LCD screen ( a good one ). With LCD you dont even need HDTV signal.

I got the 61" Samsung DLP at Christmas and love it. You are correct on the weight. I considered having it delivered but figured what the hell, I have a 16 year old son who can help me wag it into the house. We pulled it out of thte truck and both started laughing, the thing weighed less than half of the 31" tube set we moved out of the way.
