Rasmussen Sun Reporter Originally published May 2, 2007, 9:53 AM EDT Gordon Scott, who played Tarzan in five films during the 1950s, died Monday from complications of surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was 79. Scott, who was befriended by a Brooklyn couple, was taken into the couple's home where he has lived since 2002. "My husband has been a fan of his since he was a child. When we were in Hollywood about eight years ago, we looked him up. They called each other several times, and then we invited him for a visit," said Betty Thomas, a local actress whose stage name is Betty Willey. "He came and never left," she said. Mrs. Thomas said the actor had been in and out of the hospital since October.
