remote controller 143 Posted June 1, 2007 June 1, 2007, 11:42 Titans :: RB Titans Want RB C. Brown Back? Jim Wayatt, Nashville Tennessean - [Full Article] Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt has recently had conversations with veteran RB Chris Brown about possibly returning to the Titans. June 1, 2007, 12:38 Steelers :: RB RB Parker Would Welcome Two-Back System Teresa Varley, Steelers.com - [Full Article] Steelers RB Willie Parker carried the rushing load last season, but he wouldn't mind having someone in the backfield to help with some of the carries. "I think the two-back system will work very well here in Pittsburgh," said Parker, who indicated that sharing the load can help make his career last longer. That help could come from veteran RBs Najeh Davenport and/or Kevan Barlow. "Those guys are great running backs," said Parker. "I think those guys will bring great things to the offense." May 31, 2007, 20:05 Jets :: RB RB T. Jones Impressing New Teammates Dennis Waszak Jr., Yahoo Sports - [Full Article] New Jets RB Thomas Jones has made quite an impression in the weight room this offseason. "He works extremely hard," QB Chad Pennington said. "He's never the first guy out. He's always staying in there, doing a little extra. He's a true professional." HC Eric Mangini also noted that "Every time I go down to the weight room, he's there, you can tell there's real progress in terms of his muscle mass. His work ethic on the field has been equally impressive." May 31, 2007, 16:27 Titans :: RB RB L. White Finally Practices Jim Wyatt, Nashville Tennessean - [Full Article] Tennessee Titans RB LenDale White practiced with the team on Thursday for the first time since straining his hamstring on May 8. The timing is interesting, as the Titans wrapped up camp today and will not re-convene for almost another three weeks. June 1, 2007, 13:15 Cowboys :: RB RBs Jones & Barber Playing For Extensions R. Carlos Zepeda, RealFootball365.com - [Full Article] Cowboy RBs Julius Jones and Marion Barber will both be playing for contract extensions this season. Jones will be an unrestricted FA after the season, but the Cowboys have made no attempt to re-sign him. Barber will be a restricted FA next year, giving Dallas the right to match any offer made, if they desire to keep him. But with two first-round picks in the 2008 draft, Dallas could target a running back in what appears to be a very strong running back class. May 31, 2007, 13:46 Steelers :: WR WR H. Ward To Line Up In Slot? Scott Brown, Pittsburgh Tribune Review - [Full Article] Steelers WR Hines Ward will get some action in the slot this season, as part of a revamped passing attack in OC Bruce Arians playbook. Ward could see less double coverage and more open space in the slot when the Steelers spread the field. "(I) can play outside, inside, line up in the backfield, move around to a lot of positions. It's going to give me a lot more opportunities," Ward said. May 31, 2007, 11:08 Chiefs :: RB RB L. Johnson To See Increased Role Jason King, Kansas City Star - [Full Article] Kansas City Chiefs HC Herm Edwards expressed on Wednesday his intentions to get running back Larry Johnson more touches, not as a tailback - but as a receiver. "That's the next step in his development as a running back in this league: His ability to come out of the backfield running routes," Edwards said. "We need to get the ball to our backs a little more than we did last year."

remote controller 143 Posted June 4, 2007 -- Titans WR Update -- Mon Jun 4, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The City Paper report offensively, Titans QB Vince Young appears to be throwing the ball with more accuracy, but desperately needs his wide receivers to be consistent. After a slow start, WR Justin Gage has come on, making several nice receptions in practice. The reclamation project from the Chicago Bears has demonstrated athletic skills, but must make that translate when the pads go on. Elsewhere, rookies WR Paul Williams and WR Joel Filani appear to be projects. WR Chris Davis could win the slot position, but was slowed by a hamstring problem of late. Veterans WR Courtney Roby and WR Roydell Williams are in now-or-never mode to make an impact, while WR Brandon Jones, the projected No. 1, also needs to step up in training camp and solidify that role. I forgot that Duece accomplished what he accomplished last season, after a major knee surgery. That allows me to upgrade Clash's pick some. -- Deuce McAllister's Knee Much Improved -- Mon Jun 4, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The Times-Picayune reports Saints RB Deuce McAllister, who tore an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in October of 2005, said he feels some minor aches and pains now, but it's a "world of difference" from a year ago, "just to be able to go out there and practice and not wonder or worry if you can go through and do something." -- Titans WR Update -- Mon Jun 4, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The City Paper report offensively, Titans QB Vince Young appears to be throwing the ball with more accuracy, but desperately needs his wide receivers to be consistent. Thank God for him he has the ever "on target" Vick to throw to him, but noted none the less. Don't take the above comment as slam against the pick of Vick in round 10. That was a steal. It is his receivers that have a tough row to hoe. -- Fred Gibson Impressing -- Mon Jun 4, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons WR Fred Gibson, the one-time promising collegiate star turned NFL footnote, has morphed from a Falcons roster hopeful to a player "very much in the mix." The speedy 6-foot-4 wide receiver has created a buzz during the Falcons' offseason drills by making plays — albeit in non-contact drills — at a position that needs playmakers. He also has done it in an offensive scheme that could be a perfect fit for a player who languished on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad the past two seasons. He was cut in 2005 after being drafted in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I'm just doing what I have to do," said Gibson, a former All-SEC player at Georgia who signed as a free agent with Atlanta last winter. "I can catch the ball and I've been catching the ball. I told myself to make all the plays I can make and not to worry about anything else." "He's really come in here and done a good job," said wide receivers coach Paul Petrino, brother of HC Bobby Petrino. "He's worked hard and done everything we've asked of him and he's right there with the other guys." I have a feeling he out produces Morency in the redzone. -- Packers RB Update -- Mon Jun 4, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Packers RB Vernand Morency ran with the No. 1 offense Thursday, as he has throughout the mini-camps, but rookie RB Brandon Jackson got a few opportunities to show what he could do as well. He runs low to the ground, is quick in and out of his cuts and appears to have plenty of speed to burn. "I'm not really worried about that," Jackson said when asked about Morency's current role with the No. 1 offense. "Coach told me don't worry about that, as long as I get back in and get in with the pace that we're going at right now." Indeed, one of HC Mike McCarthy's mantras during the minicamps was jobs weren't won and lost based on what had transpired thus far in the off-season. Even so, Jackson is shooting to displace Morency at some point, a goal he made clear Thursday. "That's every guy's outlook, to become the No. 1 guy at his position," he said. "Yes, I want to be the No. 1 guy. Can I say I'm the No. 1 guy right now? No. But, I want to, and I know it's going to take a lot of hard work because we've got four or five other running backs that are great and they want to do the same thing: They want to start. "I know it's going to be a lot of competition out there." -- Croyle Looks Like a Starter -- Sun Jun 3, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com AP reports today in practice, when the defense wasn't hitting for real, Kansas City Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle looked as if he's ready to start in the NFL. Does he feel like he is? "I do," Croyle said Sunday. "If you'd asked me the same question last year, I'd have probably said the same thing. But last year I wasn't. But through a whole year of learning and a whole offseason of continuing to get a little bigger, I feel like I'm ready to go." Whether he's ready or not will ultimately be HC Herm Edwards' decision. And there's no way the coach is going to show his hand. "I have a while to do that," Edwards said Sunday, the final day of the Chiefs' mandatory three-day minicamp. "The competition's been good. You don't rush it. It all takes care of itself." In the meantime, Croyle, Green and QB Damon Huard all continue to share the ball equally in practice. Green, the aging starter for most of the last six seasons, waits impatiently for the Chiefs to agree to a trade that will send him to the Dolphins. How much of an upgrade, if any, would this be. Anyone know anything about Croyle??

remote controller 143 Posted June 6, 2007 -- Redskins Injury Update - Portis OUT Until Training Camp -- Tue Jun 5, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The Washington Post reports Redskins RB Clinton Portis and director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer both said that he is recovering well from a bout of tendonitis in his knee and will be full-go for the start of training camp. He'll miss this month's mini-camp. LB Marcus Washington, who had all kinds of medical work done to him this offseason including hip surgery (the most serious of the procedures) was back to practice for the first time Tuesday. He was full go and able to take part in drills, a welcome sight for teammates and coaches, who praised his unwavering positive attitude and work ethic during what has been a trying few months for him. QB Mark Brunell said that he's going to be able start practicing fully on Wednesday. Brunell, coming off of labrum surgery on his throwing shoulder, had been limited to short throw this offseason thus far, but will be able to throw all routes and start stretching his arm in drills today.
