Roster Evaluation & Rookie Outlook

Here is my team's offense going into the draft (12 team IDP keeper league):

 

QB – Matt Leinart (Ari)

QB – Tony Romo (Dal)

 

WR – Laveranues Coles (NYJ)

WR – Donald Driver (GB)

WR – Randy Moss (NE)

 

RB – Larry Johnson (KC)

RB – Clinton Portis (Was)

RB – DeAngelo Williams (Car)

 

TE – Owen Daniels (Hou)

 

A few things. First of all if you could identify any weaknesses in my team I need to address in the draft. Secondly, I am eyeing Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, and Calvin Johnson (I have the 5th pick overall). If they are available, should I take one? Also which one?

This looks like a very solid team. I actually like Romo above Leinart. Your WR's are great, all #1's basically. I like Larry Johnson, Clinton Portis scares me, and DeAngelo Williams at this point is just a backup. Owen Daniels does the job. If Marshawn Lynch is available at your pick, I would snatch him up. He is the undisputed #1 and should get you solid points

if this a pure rookie/FA draft? if so, AP/marshawn/CJ are the first 3 picks for sure leaving you with a big dropoff in talent.

 

as said, QBs and WRs are great in a 12-teamer. RB2 is a worry with portis and deangelo not yet taking the reigns. maybe package a 3rd WR to try and upgrade there but i'd shy away and keep the depth.

 

ideal move would be package deangelo + 5th pick for top pick + 3rd tier Rb if that's what it takes for marshawn or AP

I like your team. Clinton has injury concerns this year, but in a keeper he has great value and lots of upside and he is still very young. Your WRs are getting old, but they are solid. I've been burnt by Moss so I'm not so high on him. Going into this draft based on the players your keying in on. I them in this order: Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Marshawn Lynch. McGahee did nothing in Buffalo, I don't expect much out of Lynch either. Calvin is in the right situation to have Moss like numbers once he matures. Adrian Peterson is in another good situation and just needs chester taylor to leave town before he blows up.

I'd go for some youth at wideout. You don't know how moss will perform, and driver failed a physical
