dogbert 0 Posted August 24, 2007 What do you guys think of him? I grabbed him in my auction last Saturday for $3. He's my fourth receiver and I have Drew Brees. Do you think he'll step up and produce at all this year? I think he'll have about 600-700 yards and 4 tds.
Razin 0 Posted August 24, 2007 from rotoworld.com: "The New Orleans Times-Picayune believes 2007 could be a "redshirt year" for first-round pick Robert Meachem. With the way Lance Moore, David Patten, and Terrance Copper are playing behind starters Devery Henderson and Marques Colston, Meachem isn't needed. The Tennessee product has looked lost throughout the preseason." i wouldnt touch him anymore.
Saintmaniac 0 Posted August 24, 2007 He would be cut if he were not our 1st round pick. You wasted $3. I was pissed when the #1 offense in the league passed on Posluzny for a freakin WR.
HenryChinaski 1 Posted August 24, 2007 Yeah.. As a Saints homer -- you wasted your money. As of right now, he shouldn't be draftable. We have too many capable WRs ahead of him on the depth chart, for him to make any kind of impact. Besides - he looks really bad. He doesn't look like a 1st round talent at all, it's really hard to see what made him so good @ Tenn. He is supposed to be big/fast/athletic and we're just not seeing it. Not in practice and not in the games.
Skinny_Bastard 157 Posted August 24, 2007 I was very vocal about this pick during draft day. It made NO sense at all. The Saints have a team capable of winning it all this year. A rookie WR has a 2-3 year learning curve unless your name is Randy Moss. Greg Olsen would had been by far the better choice.
santa*69 0 Posted August 24, 2007 He is doing very bad in the pre season. If he was not 1st round he would get cut. No way he sees the field this year. I think they might try and sneak him on the pup list saying it is his knee etc but he just has been very bad. He will not see the field unless 3 or 4 get hurt. He was by far their highest rated player at their draft spot. The thing with Olsen -- Sean Payton wants a tight end that can block first catch second. Obviously Olsen was not so much of a blocker, so I really don't think that he exactly fit our system. Yeah he is a good talent.. But I think Eric Johnson is very capable when healthy. Billy Miller also did a very good job last year, and he was just a free agent pickup. I think tight ends are easy to come by.. Tall/Athletic/Very Fast WRs aren't as easy to find. With that said.. I think Meachem will be ok. I think (hope) that the injuries just set him back a bit.. But I have faith in our scouting department - we sure did ok last year
dominus florenzus 0 Posted August 24, 2007 From what I hear this is pretty common with rookie receivers coming out of the SEC.
HenryChinaski 1 Posted August 24, 2007 From what I hear this is pretty common with rookie receivers coming out of the SEC. Yeah it sure seems that way. Michael Clayton, Josh Reed, Matt Jones, Ike Hilliard, Reidel Anthony, Donte Stallworth... Just off the top of my head.
aldrichastern 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Saints homer here. Anyone remember how garbage Dervery Henderson was in his first year/training camp? In contrast, remember how Onome Ojo and Talman Gardner were supposed to be the amazing wideouts of the future because of their training camps/preseasons? Give Meachem some time before the final verdict is called. He could end up like anything at WR.
Saints1 4 Posted August 24, 2007 Another 2 cents from a Saints fan, as you saw last night Patten and Moore looked good in the Saints offense. You just don't know after Colston who will step up week to week. As a fan, I love Payton's offense but picking the highest point getter week to week is a gamble after Brees, Bush, and Colston in my opinion in the passing game. Dr. Hardbody 0 Posted August 24, 2007 From what I hear this is pretty common with rookie receivers coming out of the SEC. True, but at the same time he seems like he just has a work ethic problem. Well at least thats what i've picked up from reading stuff, but then again i'm not a saints homer.

Saintmaniac 0 Posted August 25, 2007 When did he say that? He started a thread last year saying:You are hearing it first, Reggie Bush will be a bust" He stood behind that and argued and argued and was an ass about it. Who's laughing now?
